  1. The way I see it is Tarver, Garvin, J. Johnson, Fraser, and Barnes are easy picks to say are gone. I wasn't a big fan of Tate either... I think you will see a couple of surprise vets could be cut, among those I have a feeling Volny could be on the bubble, Dunn is not far behind him. Now regarding Suber, I thought he was getting picked on as well and I like how Markett played so there is someone to replace him. That being said I think that Walters could probably ship Suber somewhere for some possible NI talent. Just my two cents
  2. Well they do want to improve our ST this season... I guess this guy might fit in
  3. My two cents on the day would be that the coaches put a lot of emphasis on critiquing all the players and adjusting their mechanics. QB coach was working on the qb's footwork on drop backs and what he wanted to see. Wylie was working the boys hard on mechanics (their lifting of d-line, blocks) and the men seemed to be answering the call for the most part. As was said I was asking Kowalczuk about coach Wylie and he really liked what he was doing, said "it feels like we are doing a lot better, we hope you guys see that too" I'm not an expert on OL but when they were up against the defense they seemed to hold their own a pick up a couple blitzes. Special teams got a lot of work today, from what I saw had to have been 45 min to an hour of teaching the guys and then running some plays. Tonnes of coaching in this department, lots of questions being asked to coaches which I totally respect. Sears(hamsting/quad) and Volny(ankle) needed to be taped up a different times during the practice Volny got back in to playing but it looked like Johnny was testing his out and not pushing it too much. Robertson had a cpl of passes broken up, Randle had a solid practice, Suber and Anderson had good practices as well. WR's had hot and cold moments sometimes due to the qb's passes, but one thing I did take note of and liked was Willy running up to a couple of receivers if they didn't run the right route, cut it off, or whatever, and would talk it out with them and tell them what he wanted. Pretty lax practice, didn't seem like they were pushing the guys too hard.
  4. Guy, next to you... That would be me. The Linemen were pretty appreciative of the fans coming out and supporting them.
  5. No clue... never heard his name called out but I bet its pronounced Nzegwu And Coach Scheper was awesome to watch on the field, he was bouncing around so much I could have been convinced he was part of the departed swaggerville
  6. Alright for you folks near and far, let me attempt to give my impressions of today's practice. Keeping in mind that some of you did have requests how some players were doing I did try and key in to watch them during the practice session. That being said here I go: -Hall and Willy keep widening the gap between themselves and who's ever name is drawn out of the hat for 3rd. -RB's- Cotton is AWESOME, (not big news I know but...) Made some defensive players look ridiculous. Volny had a pretty decent day, Brooks had a fumble and ran decently, Grigsby did nothing to stand off the page. -Pontbriand had a really good practice showing some receivers how do their jobs by pulling in some beauty catches. Also laid out a DE in what of the "scrimmages" got some big cheers from teammates and coaches. -WR's- The usual culprits (Denmark, Moore, Urrutia, Kohlert) continued to show what they can do on the field. Big impressions made this morning by Feoli-Gudino (dropped one pass, got after himself didn't drop a pass the rest of practice, dude is also really quick!) Carter stood on his head for a couple catches, received a bit of a hard knock next to sidelines, got up in the db's face and got a positive reaction from Bellefeuille. I like his chances of making this squad. Kemp and Barnes made some good catches, a couple of drops. Tarver seemed to struggle a bit today. -OL- Had some really good battles when going up against the D-Line. Standouts were Goossen who absolutely plastered half the line, Stevenson (#59), and Everett. Everett is one quick kid, was all over the place. Neufeld also looked very good out there, pushing guys back pretty deep on rushing plays. -DB's- I had a hard time telling who was having a good practice and who wasn't... During the "scrimmages" Markett, Randle, Sears and Alexander were moving well getting to the ball. They all still seem to be struggling with Etch's system, you could hear him yelling all through practice where guys should be, but at the same time he was also challenging the players with questions. (For example on a certain play he was asking how many guys were supposed to be in the box and his players were responding to him) -LB's- Dunn, Kuale, and Newman stood out. Wild seemed a little frustrated at times but was asking coaches questions. All LB's seemed to get burned when they tried to keep up with WR's on one of the drills. -D-Line- I specifically was looking at Moseley,Tate, Fraser, and Nzegwu. Tate was the only one who was pretty meh to me. Nzegwu was in the backfield a lot and not many of our OL were able to block him very well. Fraser was quick to get in to the backfield as well, I think he could bring something to the table this season if they see fit to keeping him around, And lastly, Thomas had a solid practice, was squashed by an OL or two during some drills but got up quick and kept going at him. The coached tapped him on the helmet a number of times. ST- Hajrullahu was by far the best kicker on the field, beat out Maher in all aspects. That's all I got, if you have any requests for guys, I'm going back tomorrow, let me know.
  7. Actually it was a combination of Jahvid Best and Mikael LeShoure who pushed Smith out of a job which is odd because when Best went down with an injury for a week or two Smith came in and carried the Lions running game.
  8. I don't consider being the 5th/6th RB on the depth chart the "big league" but I guess there is always the PR.
  9. Smith is a great signing! He can also block and pick up the blitz well.
  10. For the years that I have been following some of you folks, I can't believe my first post is going to be in defense of Etienne. I think a lot of guys on here are going to be surprised this year with his level of play. With Sask's depth at Canadian receiver he may not be a starter but he will show up when they give him a chance. I don't know how many times I read how he isn't doing anything but iirc he was drafted when he was 21, not many guys are starting pro at that age. I just don't think the Bombers, let alone the fans had the patience to let this guy develop. My two cents... On a completely different note, love what you guys are doing here with MBB, keep the great work up. Cheers
