  1. I think Petan if he shows well tonight sticks, I'm gonna guess Morrissey sticks aswell, i don't care what anyone on the big breakfast or any media idiot really says, they really do just talk out their ass most the time. Jets lack skill big time, Petan and Morrissey brings a ton of skill. Everyone high on Lowry because he's hit a few guys, but... Petans skill level is so much more than lowry, Petan could play anyrole on any line, Lowry? He's not a top 6 guy at all, he doesn't have the Offense to be a top 6 guy. Petan and Morrissey both get their 9 games for sure, after that? who knows.
  2. Kuale probably had his best game as a bomber last week, For as much love as Kromah seems to get, he's been pretty invisible out there the last few weeks.
  3. I'm all for giving Volny more touches, but reality is, we don't even give Grigsby enough touches so I'm not sure making Volny the starter is the answer and I'm pretty positive it's not going to happen. Volny is a good capable i suppose backup, he's good in limited reps but... he will never be anything more than that. I mean really, the issue here isn't really the RB, it's the oline, if they aren't opening holes for Grigsby, they won't open holes for Volny. Honestly, I'm under the impression that it doesn't matter who the RB is, heck even a guy like Cornish, I'm not even sure he'd do much behind this oline. Our problem is we don't run the ball enough at times, but that problem probably exists because we don't have much faith in our oline to get the job done. Grigsby is better than Volny by a long shot, overall he's just so much better so i guess, if the idea is to get Willy killed, Sure go ahead and play Volny. If i'm an opposing DC and i see Volny lined up in the backfield, i totally ignore him and just send the house at Willy. Volny isn't a threat.
  4. Just for the record, i'm on the side of logic meaning the headset malfunctioned, That's really the only logical explanation considering that was what has been said multiple times now. Not sure why someone IN BC seems to think otherwise, and the explaining of the microphone TSN stuff was in response to Brandon who keeps going on and on about it was quiet in the stadium, It doesn't matter how quiet it is in the stadium or how loud it is really if the headset isn't working. The headset is used for MB to communicate the plays to Willy. If that mucked up then really, It's not like MB is yelling the plays to WIlly over a megaphone for gods sake, he's saying it to willys headset in his helmet, If that messed up then how quiet it was in the stadium makes no difference at all, hell people could have been hooting and hollaring as loud as they wanted too be and it still wouldn't matter if the headset mucked up like it did. Jesus, why is it so hard for people to understand that how loud or quiet in the stadium doesn't matter if the headset in willys helmet messed up.
  5. This topic is funny cuz it's a debate about 2 guys who haven't been playing this year... Is Adebayo really any better than Pall? I dunno man, It's not like either of these guys would really make that much of a difference, Just like Pall hasn't made much of a difference here (has he really been given that chance yet tho), I doubt adebayo does anything much in Edmonton either, if he's even given the chance. This seems to be one of those... Let's revisit this in the off-season when both are free agents cuz they both aren't very good actually threads. Honestly, both these guys have stuck around because they are Canadian. That's it. In the CFL, your passport matters cuz if it didn't, both these guys would be unemployed. I want to make a comparison though, just for fun... Yesterday i ate a banana, it was kind of bruised, a little black to be honest cuz i didn't put it in the fridge at work, anyways though i still ate it, later in the day i went to the bathroom and in the toilet, sure enough there was poop. Today i decided to keep my banana in the fridge, i ate it on break, went to bathroom later and in the toilet again was poop. Guess what i'm saying is eventually, both adebayo and pall will be evacuated from the CFLs bowels and be permanently flushed cuz they both are crap. Comparing crap to crap really.
  6. I don't see how trading our Canadians helps us, We lack Canadian depth so now we want to trade it? Doesn't make sense to me at all. Oh and anyone who thinks we can get a starting Canadian oline or dline for Watson, you have got to be kidding me. When was the last time a team traded a starting Canadian oline for a Canadian receiver who is injured all the time? Never? So not sure why it would start now. Are GM's dumber now a days than they were in the past? Only way you could probably trade Watson for a Canadian Olineman is if they Canadian Olineman was injured most the time too and how does that help us again? Seriously, reading some of these posts, one would almost assume some of you think we could get like Josh Bourke or some all star for Watson, NOT GONNA HAPPEN. At best we'd probably get a guy like Neufeld or Who was that guy we traded woodson for from Toronto? Parenteau? Yeah a guy like that, You ain't getting much for Watson so the best thing to do is hang on to him until you have someone who can replace him. As much as some think that guy exists, he doesn't right now. Draft Nic Demski? Sure then maybe we can think about moving Watson.
  7. They already threw Crompton away for White, why not Nichols too? I can't imagine why Edmonton would want to help the Riders though. They won't unless SASK gives them something that will help them more. Seriously, a canadian receiver and a 1st round pick? My guess is they do it.. what's the rumor? bagg and a 1st? Edmonton be crazy not to do that.
  8. Unamba has probably kept his spot because he is by far our best special teams player and leads the team in special teams tackles. Unless i'm mistaken but i doubt it, pretty sure he leads the team in special teams tackles and it's not even close. Unamba seems to get crapped on a bit but my guess is if you took him out of the line up, you'd notice how important he actually was to special teams. Sears? Meh he's a good player but the guy can't stay healthy, you got people wanting to trade watson a canadian because he can't stay healthy yet sears has missed as much if not more time than watson has the last couple years. Problem with sears is he's good when healthy but he's not that healthy always.
  9. Hank hasn't had much help but in the games i've watched, Hank is playing like total crap for the most part too. I just don't see how a guy could go all out for him, he doesn't seem to like to take the blame, he's always pointing fingers at everyone but himself. I'm not gonna kid myself though, the guy has had a very good to excellent career, He is still one of the best QB's to play the game in my time watching the CFL but... once you reach that certain age, your skills seem to diminish a lot quicker, and for some reason, this season seems to be showing that for as good as Hank was in the past, maybe he's reached that point where he's not so good anymore. I also can't completely blame Henry for the poor year, I mean ottawa was kidding themselves if they thought they would do much better, but... his supporting cast ain't the greatest either. Henry has been terrible this year but he also hasn't had much help however he is the guy that touches the ball on every offensive play the ORB's have had this season so he's gotta take some/most the heat for sure.
  10. I dunno, if it wasn't for our own mistakes the last several weeks (bc not included, due to willy being injured), we'd have probably won several of those games, the biggest issue with this team right now is they don't have the overall talent to overcome some of the mistakes they make, special teams blocked punt lead to hamiltons only TD, Willy throwing an interception vs sask, hell man, those 2 mistakes cost us those games, Sure there were other factors but... when you really break it down, we are losing because we are beating ourselves.
  11. Harris is a huge loss, tough to deal with i'd imagine. Not only do you lose your starting running back/ mr everything, he's canadian at that. Gonna have to start a Canadian elsewhere now.
  12. I tend to get the feeling that the TSN microphones might pick up more sound than actually is there, it really depends where those mics are placed in the stadium... I've gone to games in the past and it's been dead quiet in the stadium when the bombers are on offence, maybe you can hear 1 or 2 lets say 10 people making some sort of noise but then i go home and watch it on tv and those 1 or 2 or 10 sounds like it's half the stadium. Very sensitive mics i think. Has to be.
  13. Too much is being made of what line combos they are using and who is playing and who isn't playing. It's pre-season. It's pretty irrelevant actually. Maurice even said it's more about evaluating then it is anything else. Not surprised to see the Jets go with a very young roster tonight. Gotta see who wants it. Tonight will be telling. Hopefully a few of the young ones step up tonight, if not, it's probably back to junior or st johns tomorrow.
  14. why does any gm in any league leak trade rumors to the media? It's not like it's CFL specific here, it happens in every sport. The reason is quite simple, so then that GM can say he at least tried to get something done but didn't have a willing partner. This is all about Taman being able to say, well at least i tried....
  15. Turning in to a sask based fan site here it seems, Not sure i like that too much. Way too many topics about SASK on here but regardless, Seems pretty obvious Durant is done for the year, regardless of what a rider fan or 2 thinks. Pretty obvious that the deal Sask made with Ottawa or proposed deal with Ottawa for Buriss is legit, I mean, it's been reported by more than just Madani. Doesn't make sense to even propose that trade if you think Durant will be back this season, Fact is.. He won't be and the only reason Chamblin and whoever else "believes he might be" is because they have seen that Rider team give up and fold the last 2 weeks without Durant so they are just trying to give their other players a reason for optimism, Don't give up guys, Darian will be back soon. But reality is, he won't be. Pretty obvious watching SASK the last 2 weeks that based on the other players body language and all that stuff, they are done like dinner without durant and they know it. Maybe if the coaches showed half as much faith in their backups as they do in durant "maybe returning this year", that maybe just maybe those backups could get the job done, it's not like Durant was lighting it up this year, he was just managing the game and basically letting the running game win games for them. Sask is last in the league in passing yards per game are they not? Without a passing game you can't win in this league consistently and that's just being proven now. Honestly, even if Durant wasn't hurt, i still think the riders would be struggling right now, Teams have caught on to them, take away the run and make them beat you with the pass and they can't do it.
  16. I'm almost positive or starting to believe that the TSN announcers do influence the calls.
  17. Yeah for once someone will have a younger team then the Oilers In reality I believe the Jets v2 have been the youngest team in the league for years now have they not? Yup, top 3 or 5 in the league in terms of youngest. Believe the maple leafs are there too with the youngest teams in the league. We don't really have many guys older than 30 on our team, i'm not sure what our average age is but it's definitely pretty young.
  18. Yes Romby had his best game but overall I haven't been impress and I was a fan of bring him in. I just think the offense needs a spark and McGuffie might be the ticket and who else would you take out ? Or the bomber should start 2 Internationals on the Online and just add in McGuffie. We are not the same offense without Moore in the lineup so just trying to think of who else might be a spark... I'd like to see McGuffie too, from all reports he looks very good in Practice. Not sure, Think getting Moore back is huge, but.. who else? I dunno, i agree with maybe going with just 2 Americans on the oline and starting another Canadian there, could it be much worse? Who though? I dunno, Neufeld? Goossen? Hinse? Swiston? 2 are centers and our center has actually been pretty good this season, Morley has probably been our best oline this year, says something don't it when a converted guard/tackle is our best oline at center. Agree with wanting to see the "3 hour mauler" in Chad Anderson, Maybe replace January with Anderson and the oline improves? I dunno. In all honesty though, I think if we could just eliminate the mistakes, we probably win more. That's whats killing us, our offence actually moves the ball, our D, the only TD they allowed was on the blocked punt thing, they played well and have now for a few weeks, Eliminate the mistakes and the costly turnovers like the blocked punt that lead to hamiltons only td and i think we win more, maybe thats whats most frustrating about this little streak, we have played well enough to win most games(not the bc game) but the other games, man its the stupid turnovers and stupid penalties but more so the turnovers that are killing us.
  19. Thought Bryant had his first real good game vs Hamilton, odd time to crap on him now, think he was sufficient, definitely turned a few short passes in to big plays, get bryant in space so he can use that speed and he's effective, trying to hit him on 40 yard passes? not so much. Play calling has been suspect too, pretty much what to expect from Marcel tho, not sure why we have gotten away from what was working earlier in the year.. Do notice this, when they go to the hurry up offence they are much more effective. Probably should run the hurry up offence more. And I think i understand why, because they probably don't have much faith in the oline but... grigsby needs more carries and more touches, whether its screen passes, bubble passes, whatever.. whether its handing off the ball, 10 carries a game ain't enough. This is why i don't get people who want to see another running back on the game day roster, we don't use the one we have enough so why put another one on there, why? so he won't be used either. You got a pretty good weapon back there in Grigsby, he needs more touches. Stop with the running up the middle crap, it doesn't work, grigsby's best runs are to the outside, go there more often.
  20. So let's take a look, so far compared to the same point in the season last year Calgary, is taking 1 penalty per game more for an additional 8 yards per game Sask, is taking 1.25 penalties per game more for an additional 3.5 yards per game Winnipeg is taking .7 penalties less per game for an additional .1 yards per game Montreal is taking 1 less penalty per game for 2.4 yards per game less BC is taking 4 penalties per game more for an additional 26 yards per game Toronto is taking 2 penalties per game more for an additional 24.5 yards per game Edmonton is taking .8 penalties per game more for an additional 4.7 yards per game Hamilton is taking 3.5 penalties per game more for an additional 15 yards per game overall there are 2.8 penalties per game more for an additional 21 yards per game in penalties though 2/3 of this season vs first 2/3 of last season Well that is absolutely shocking for sure. Honestly just watching the games and all games i can, it sure seems like the refs are way more flag happy than just roughly 3 calls per game. Color me surprised for sure. Think the refs do play a role, the penalties do play a role though, think we are kidding ourselves if we think they don't.. Maybe its not the amount of penalties being called but penalties being called at the worst possible times? I dunno, maybe more context would help, wonder how many of those penalties took away big plays off the board for the offences in the league. When were they called? what was the call? did the call have anything at all to actually do with the big play? Or maybe it is as simple as the Defenses are just better. Who knows really.
  21. Gotta admit, watched a few segments of SNL this week and it was pretty funny.. The weekend update was good, the bigger woman and the host in the bar was pretty funny, the nfl on cbs thing running through the teams offences and defenses but instead of saying what college they went too, saying what crime they committed. Was pretty decent actually. The host was pretty good actually.
  22. I'm not sure i can blame Glenn Johnson, He's the guy in the command centre. On reviews? sure i can blame him and he does deserve his fair share of blame but blaming him is really ignoring the real problems and that's the guys on the field blatantly missing obvious calls and calling super weak borderline penalties. Hard to blame Johnson when Kim Murphy doesn't call a roughing the kicker call last week and does this week on a play that was actually less roughing/contacting the kicker than the one last week where he didn't call it. Not sure i can blame Johnson on the inconsistency as the inconsistency has been around for several years with the refs. It's just lack of training, lack of consistency... I'll admit it, i watch other games and i've said it before and one more time, I don't care if they call penalties, its irrelevant to me really but at least if you are going to call one time on a borderline call, call it on the other team too. Consistency i think is key, and that's the problem, from game to game week to week, you don't know what you are going to get. I think part of that might be because this year they use different crews for every game, last year and seasons past i believe, they'd have lets just say kim murphys crew working games together and then lets say andre proulxs crew working together every game, this year they changed that up and the crews don't work with the same ref every week. That might be part of the issue there too cuz a lot of the times, it's not the ref that's throwing the flag, it's the other guys.. However the contacting the kicker call, well that's a direct result of the Ref just being blind or a moron or i dunno what.
  23. The real odd part is they did replace someone during the bye week, whether its injury related or not, devin tyler started in place of cordaro howard. Tyler looked lost and this is a guy with a few years of CFL experience. Guess when you are surronded by ****, you become it too.
  24. I agree for the most part but i think numbers 1. and 3. go hand in hand. Thats where most your depth guys are used, special teams. lack of depth means special teams ain't so good.
  25. I noticed that in Edmonton v. Sask. Several big plays by Edmonton, taken back by calls, one a hold half the width of the field away from the actual run. It does ruin the fun of watching the game. These referees don't understand, we aren't watching the game to see them throw flags, and have meetings on national TV. The penalty call was for unnecessary roughness and it was deserved. Put the blame where it belongs - on the player who made a boneheaded play, not the official. I've noticed you like to stick up for the reffing a lot, do you have a family member who refs games? it has to be cuz you have got to be kidding me with some of these calls this year. Not just bomber games but league wide, the reffing has been awful and is the main reason why scoring is down so much this year.
