  1. Messam is hurt too, Bombers showed they could stop Ford, Not sure about Allen, but... If the bombers could stop Ford and Messam is still hurt, I'm not really sure what the riders could do against us next week-end. They have no passing game what so ever.. Not really too scared of the riders at all, with our without Durant.
  2. The score in that Ottawa Calgary game might have been close for most the game but it was obvious who the better team was and who was going to win... For a while there, i kept thinking, If Ottawa could get anything out of their Offence, they might win this one but... after seeing Hank check out of the game, earlier than he actually did, and seeing the receivers just flat out giving up on passes, some weren't very catchable, it was obvious Calgary was going to win. might have been 8-7 for a long time but that score flatters the redblacks big time cuz calgary pretty much controlled the time of possession the entire game, Ottawa did nothing offensively, at half they had 58 total yards and 52 penalty yards.. It wasn't as close as the 8-7 score indicated.
  3. I feel bad for their fans, first year back in the league and the get dealt a crap sandwich. Somewhat in the way we've all felt here the past few years. That's all. I think if their fans expected them to be very good, they were kidding themselves. If you go back in time and look at the expansion threads about Ottawa, it was almost unanimous on this forum that they wouldn't be very good.
  4. I'll bet he punted cuz Montreals offence was awful for several games, heck they went multiple games without scoring a TD. If that's against Calgary or someone like that, i doubt he decides to punt out... I'm also though under the impression that giving your opponents points is stupid. Make them earn their points.. Don't give them any. Unless, there are crazy circumstances like a big lead or a big wind, neither of which were factors at that point of the game.
  5. Ottawa brought this on themselves... Lets recap the brilliance of their GM. Expansion draft He takes a centre who said he was going to retire He takes a QB they didn't want He takes a guy from Winnipeg who had no intentions of leaving Winnipeg Free Agent Day Signs a bunch of nobodies and a almost 40 year old qb who is getting paid way way too much Had a full year to find 'new talent' but their best players are all guys they took in the expansion draft Walker, Shologan, Capicotti, Miles Honestly, I don't' feel bad for them at all, Their GM deserves this.
  6. I just don't see what constantly going on about it proves exactly. How many of these "refs suck" threads do we need. We all know there are issues, they aren't perfect but... you know what, if you don't like the job they are doing, why don't you go and apply to be a ref. It's really that simple. What games have you been watching? what blatant calls have they missed? a few PI's? a Few holds? It's football, it's sport really. It's going to happen, best thing to do is understand it's not going to be perfect because if you are expecting it to be perfect, it never will be in any sport which has that human element to it. It is what it is.
  7. Turner was tackled in to him, I'm not sure how he could have avoided that one.
  8. The fans were never the issue in Ottawa, not sure why anyone thinks that. They have had the worst ownership groups in the CFL in the past. The attendance has always been good. I can't blame them for booing, their team hasn't scored an offensive touchdown at home this year besides the trick play one and i believe that might be considered a special teams touchdown. And demarco is hurt on a tough play there, guy got tackled in to him, He done for a while now.
  9. Meh, i don't think it's as bad as it appears, if guys would stop hitting qbs late or interfering on passes, these calls wouldn't need to be made. Refs aren't perfect but they haven't cost anyone a game yet.. Refs are humans, just like in every other sport, they make mistakes.. It is what it is. It will never be perfect in any sport.
  10. lol it's 32-7. This game IMO was never in doubt, Calgary has like a 15 minute advantage in time of possession. This is ridiculous actually.
  11. I've been watching the game and it's getting quite nauseating listening to miller and forde pump ottawas tires so much. IMO, the biggest problem with Ottawa right now is the QB. Buriss ain't passing the ball, he's throwing it.. and he's missing receivers badly. I'd put in demarco if I was ottawa but because hank is signed to such a huge contract, i doubt that happens any time soon.
  12. If the only reason the 1 guy doesn't want HALL back is because he takes "too many penalties"... That's a pretty weak ass reason, I'd love to know how many penalties hall took for us the last few years compared to other pass rushing defensive ends in the league. Bet it's close. Bet it's being a wee bit overblown by the one guy. He takes too many penalties? That's the weakest biggest load of crap reason i've ever heard to not wanting a dominant pass rushing defensive end back with the blue.
  13. The media does play a role here, anyone who refuses to believe that has not been paying attention the last few years Coaches have refused to have interviews with us in the past... Anyone who honestly doesn't believe the Winnipeg media is one of the biggest problems in the Winnipeg sports world is seriously kidding themselves. They probably aren't a huge factor but you can bet your butt that they are a factor none the less in why people don't sign here.
  14. I hope to god Walters doesn't listen to ETCH here, i mean seriously, how long will ETCH be here? Walters will be here longer regardless so if walters want him, Etch will have to play him. I hope Walters signs Hall, we are severely lacking that pass rushing defensive end and Hall is that guy, I think it's a matter of time before Walters announces Hall is back in blue n gold or is it just blue?
  15. Kirk Penton @PentonKirk As expected, DE Alex Hall has been released by the Carolina Panthers. #Bombers were interested in him before he went to the NFL.
  16. Hall could be on his way here but Gaydosh is Hamilton property, they took him first overall in the draft where we took Mulumba, He ain't coming here unless we trade for him, which i doubt we will, pretty sure Gaydosh is hurt isn't he?
  17. SmokinBlue missed the point of this thread it seems... What part of 3 positives don't you get there BRO? For the Season, 3 positives in my opinion - Drew Willy looks like he will be a very good QB in this league for a very long time.. He's better than anybody we have had since Khari really, Yup, I'd say his ceiling is definitely higher than Kevin Glenns was. - Ian Wild. - The guy is a beast, Long snaps, plays LB, hasn't taken a penalty this year yet, that's amazing... IMO, He is our Defensive MVP so far.. by far - Mike O'shea. - Say what you will but, he's the best coach we have had since Dave Ritchie. Not really sure if we all truly understand how much of a difference having a coach that actually believes in his players is. I'm going to add a couple others... honorable mentions really -Rory Kohlert -Clarence Denmark -Bruce Johnson -Maurice Leggett - Teague Sherman I remember when the season began or training camp ended, there were posters on this board saying we will have guys on this team this year (the cfl rookies) who won't be very good at all, Some even suggested none of them would be any good Well, Leggett and Johnson have certainly proved those folks wrong.
  18. Can't blame guys for wanting to play close to home and I'm gonna be honest here, With our media and with the way the last few years have gone, I'm not even sure if i would have signed here if i played pro football.. It's all about winning and getting rid of the gong show reputation we had for the last few years, that doesn't go away in one off-season. Wouldn't surprise me to see more guys signing here in the future though. Besides, Nick Moore, Graig Newman, Chris Randle, Drew Willy... sure 2 of them were trades but they all decided to sign here regardless. They have all been pretty solid, outside of newman who has been hurt but newmans injury, if there is a bright spot in that injury is that it has allowed teague sherman to step up and become a player for us.
  19. Chris Jones is a real son of a ***** and i hope that Edmonton team struggles down the stretch, I don't think they are as good as their record... and I will love the day when they start losing.. Jones is not good for the league, refusing to shake hands at the end and all the other shennanigans he has pulled is getting ridiculous. Time to stop with the fines and start taking draft picks away.
  20. Why is everyone afraid of the riders really? we need to play 4 quarters to beat them? LOL, no we don't, we just can't turn the ball over against them and we should win.. I don't get it really, Yeah they are the defending grey cup champs but they have looked pretty average this season so far... Montreal gave them a run for their money last week, just like they gave us a run for our money this week, Riders did nothing for 3 quarters just like us and beat them in the 4th, just like us.. When we played SASK, we gave them the game off of turnovers, they didn't kill us, Heck i don't even think they scored an offensive touchdown against us... DId they? People going on about Messam but for all the running messam did, the sask offence put up 4 friggin points.. Don't get this 'gotta play 4 quarters vs sask to win'... I understand what some mean but... I really don't get why sask is getting so much credit here from some people... THEY kind of aren't very good this year, They have got lucky, We barely beat montreal? Sure, sask barely beat them too, When we lost to sask, we beat ourselves, sask didn't do anything really.. Not sure why anyone would be afraid of SASK, they aint what they used to be.
  21. Hmm.. Keep the divisions as is for now, It's just one season so far really...but... I do like the idea of Keeping the Divisions, the first place teams get a bye to the Semis.. so Lets say Calgary and Toronto right now So week 1 playoffs would see Team 3 (Edmonton) vs Team 6 (BC) and Team 4 (Sask) vs Team 5 (Winnipeg) The team who finished first overall in the league (Calgary) Plays Either BC or the Winner of the SASK/Wpg game since the first place team should play the lower ranked team.. So Lets say Edmonton Beats BC, WPG beats SASK.. Semis would be Calgary vs Wpg and Toronto vs Edmonton 1st place team definitely needs to face the lowest ranked team still available, In other words, IF BC were to beat Edmonton, Calgary faces BC Toronto would face the winner of the SASK/WPG game Winners meet in Final East vs West doesn't mean much when the West will more than likely roll right over them, Kind of brutal to think that a division with 4 teams, 3 of which have 1 win, Well, one of those teams are making the playoffs and it's likely a team who finishes .500 in the west... They aren't. Pretty weak really.
  22. From what i have read about pederson, He's a big time homer and does tend to make stuff up lots... I guess, if i had to compare him to someone, I'd say he reminds me of Eklund from hockeybuzz, Throws a lot of crap against the wall to see what sticks.. Sometimes, maybe 1 out of 20 rumours he spreads, comes true but for the most part, not really.
  23. Crompton looked good but, i guess when you have basically zero film on a guy, he's going too look good, Elliott looked good too, So did Lefevour, others have also. They have quickly faded into obscurity, ok Lefevour looked good a few games but still.... you get the idea. One game doesn't mean much IMO. Let's see what porn stache does next week.
  24. The Good - The story on Lirim before the game, amazing story and i'd recommend it to those who haven't seen it to definitely try to check it out... - The OL run blocking in the 4th quarter - The tackling by our Defence the entire game - Kromah, Wild, Johnson,Randle, Leggett - Stoudemire - Jones with the blocked punt - not sure what it finished at but they say the 50/50 was over 60,000 at half - Over 97000 pounds of food for the purolator thing - Washington for getting nailed on that one play and continuing to play and then making a few big plays later - Denmark The Bad - Glenn Suitor going on and on and on about the PI call - Alex Brink - SJ Green - Nick Moore - Paris Cotton in the third quarter - Whyte and Lirim both nailing the goal post - The fact that Grigsby leads the league in rushing but we are dead last as a team in rushing yards per game The Ugly - The Playing Calling through 2 quarters and 10 minutes - Tom Higgins, just in general... DEAD MAN WALKING - The Entire first half by both teams... Worst first half of football I have ever seen, Just 2 and out after 2 and out by both teams. Just want to add, The really Good, the unexpected, the who would have thunk it - at the half way point in the season, we are 6-3.
  25. Never hope for serious injuries, I've cheered though in the past when certain players got injured and had to leave the game, but those are guys who i'd consider dirty players, like if hebert or shea emry got hurt, I wouldn't be too upset, Don't want them to have serious injuries though. Hell, i'd go as far to say that when Calvillo was playing and we were playing Montreal and he got hurt, that i cheered lol. I don't see the harm in hoping a guy gets injured, maybe not hoping but if he does, i ain't gonna cry over it that's for sure.
