The problem with your argument is that it ignores that in most cases churches have been set up for systematic monetary gain and have doled out systematic abuse in parallel from the power and privilege they've gained meddling with people's internal psychology. The actors may change from century to century but the wealth accumulation and the abuses have been continual attributes of these organizations from the beginning. So it goes a whole lot deeper than blaming a mountain of atrocities on a few bad apples, when every one of these apples has been raised and educated within the church.
