  1. was it saunders that refused to play preseason game with the stamps 2 weeks ago just prior to being cut? if so, doesnt sound like the kind of player attitude Walters and MOS have been pretty vocal about being just as important as talent.  Maybe there was more to the story, or maybe im confusing him with someone else?

No, you got that right but don't know if that was the reason he was cut.  Probably just got beat out by someone with more versatility.  Would be a great temp. fill in for Stoudermire but nothing more.

  2. @sportscage: Taman says Pierzchalski's and Woldu's Rider days r done. Still settling on PR. No one's agreed to a PR agreement yet.

@scruffyregina: Many reports coming about @Pierzchalski18 signing with REDBLACKS. #CFL

    Darrell Romuld (CTV) @CTVDarrell

Riders GM Brendan Taman says Alex Pierzchalski was offered a Practice Roster spot but declined; wishes him luck.

Brohm is Willy without the accuracy. MB doesn't have to change anything in the offensive plan if he has to use Brohm. MB has to change a lot of things if he has to use Marve because he's a very different type of QB.

If true, that would be weak sauce on MB's part.

One of the most effective backup situations, is when the #2 can throw defenses, a change up. If Marcel could or would not "change a lot of things" simply because of different styles of QB (which many other teams have handled in the past)........then we need another OC, here.

Just because Marve is "#3" doesn't mean he can't come into games as a change of pace QB. I think we will see Marve more this season than the last.

Unless O'Shea has changed his mindset from last year the only way #3 gets game time is if #1 and #2 are knocked out. I don't see an indication that O'Shea has advanced his strategic thinking on this so I expect we will see the same plan this year.

  4. @AJonSports: REDBLACKS GM Marcel Desjardins says they could be adding a Canadian receiver this week. Hearing it could be Sask cut Alex Pierzchalski. #CFL

Not a chance the Riders are letting that guy get away.  Even if they handle their PR a little differently the message is the same, "hands off".

  5. Ti-Cats finally announced there cuts this morning.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made announced their cuts Sunday morning but the most critical news for them could be those they placed on the injured list.

  6. You know what was the single biggest thing that scared me last night? This is one of the first times I can remember a MOS team looking totally flat and having no energy. At no point in that game last night did I feel like we were in it, or had a chance. Hamilton dictated play and it felt like we were just out there going through motions. That's not the MOS way and I don't care to see it ever again.

The Bombers have laid some pretty big eggs at IGF, must drive Miller crazy.

  7. Tear up knee in preseason, get released.

Does Anderson take anything away besides a wrecked knee? Any kind of injury compensation or extended insurance or what have you? That's super shitty if he doesn't.

I would guess there's some kind of insurance payments to cover this but it's probably not much.

  8.

Pierzchalski is cut. I believe he played well in pre-season games. He's a big receiver.

He's expected to land on the Riders PR. Riders announcing their PR early this week.

I imagine it's an unwritten rule not to pick off a player between being cut and being placed on the PR?

  9. Esk. cuts, Goltz is gone again.

The Edmonton Eskimos released a veteran offensive lineman in Brian Ramsay and added another one, Simeon Rottier, to the six-game injued list.

  11. I said it last year, and I'll say it again now - I think Marve is our next QB. I know we are committed to Willy, and Willy most likely will be. This is just me, and what I see. Willy doesn't seem to have that 'internal clock' to tell him when to throw. I still remember last year after the first 6 games how he really started struggling but they left him in until he physically couldn't compete. In comes Brohm, then Marve, and though they didn't blow the doors off - same personal, same schemes, they did ok - much better than a battered and shell shocked Willy.

I think this season the Bombers will maintain the status quo at QB, Willy, Brohm, Marve because that's what Marcel and Mike decided in the off-season. The Bombers had an opportunity to divest themselves of Brohm in the off-season and yet they actively pursued him.  If Portis doesn't accept another year on the PR he will be gone and maybe Yantz can fill that position while they search for the "next up".

If Willy is the designated starter for the next 4-6 years many QB's will come and go during that time, including the 3 current wannabees.  Getting excited about the future prospects of the underlings as more than temp. fill ins is rather pointless as long as the Bombers are heavily invested in Willy,  both Marcel's and O'Shea's careers are riding on his back.

  12.

No way.  LaPo is yards better then MB.  And what are you talking about?  Last year that's all MB did was have Willy throw short yardage when we needed 8+ yards.

Wrong on both counts.  Whenever Durant was not behind center, Lapolice's play calling stunk to high heaven and was unwatchable.  Unacceptable on all counts and if he was as good as people say he is, every single one of those 7 other teams would've been pounding on his door and blowing up his phone telling him he has a job as coach or OC after he got fired here.  That didn't happen and for good reason.

And trust me there were way more long balls thrown by our offense last year on 2nd and long than there had been in a while.  It was sometimes good, sometimes not good, sometimes Willy did need to check it down instead of trying for a home run like he did in the Banjo Bowl, or against BC in that final game last year.  But all in all, at least I can say this offense wasn't playing not to lose like that f***ing clown Lapo tried to instill here.

I believe LaPo has turned down a few OC jobs as he only wants to be a HC.

  13.

Probably cuz he was a cfl rookie last year. Really the most silly thing to do would be to make a rookie with no cfl experience back up in his first year. That's how careers are ruined.

Marve and willy have similar numbers but Marve is the only bright spot? Unreal.

Marve's accomplishments occurred with under 6 minutes of playing time. Willy played an entire half + the first series of the third.

Marve also played against a defense who was very obviously playing to prevent anything big and left the entire intermediate portion of the field wide open.

Not to sensationalize things, but Marve was essentially 0/3 on throws he actually had to earn. He played well, but that performance didn't inspire much more confidence in him than I already had - a moderate amount.

Agreed, just pissed off that they relegated him to that portion of the game.  Reeks of Max Hall before he was cut.

I totally agree.  It was meant to be an exaggeration.  That fellow that pooped himself in front of us was obviously not indicative of the median standard for our "enhanced" society, but that being said, when some brain-washed leftist tells me that no one should be elevated above anyone else, where's the bottom line then?  What's the standard?  That's where I get a million different opinions from these people.  I had one English major tell me one day that no one in Canada should make over $75,000.  Anything above that should just be "given" to the government.  And she is telling me this with a straight face.  Like good grief, Lord help us all if our country's tax policy is ever handed over to English majors.  Yet if you look at Norway's tax policy, they almost have such a system in place, in that if you make over $100K in Norway, you get to keep almost none of the money above that $100K mark.  And that's a sure-fire way to encourage stagnation, as the best and brightest leave your country for greener pastures elsewhere.  And rightly so.

As for a more common story, my neighbours next door to me won the inheritance lottery and were able to buy the house next door.  The mom, grown adult son and grown adult daughter all live together, and all are on welfare.  The only time I see the son when he's not video-gaming is when he is outside lighting up a joint.  When I ask the mom if the kids are going to get a job or go to school, I am given the mantra that "it's really hard to find work out there" and "the kids don't really want to go to university".  Of course not.  They can survive on the government teat, so why go and make something of their lives?  Meanwhile, the grass in the back yard is 3 feet high because they refuse to mow it (I wrecked my mower last year trying to mow it for them) and the fence is crumbling.  These are the kind of people that take advantage of our already extremely generous social safety net.  It bugs me to no end that somehow idiots can claim that Canadians don't have enough empathy, or should be more like crappy countries like Norway.  Canadians spend billions of dollars every year propping up people like my neighbours, who make enough off the government to not even bother trying to find work.  I think that there should be some sort of way of monitoring able-bodied people who are perpetually on welfare, as they just have no incentive to ever go off of it, if there is no one telling them they have to.  That's not right.

Much better example.  I see you is angry for good reason.  People who slide by on welfare have low expectations and often are content not to try to better themselves.  A sliding scale of decreased monthly payments might give some of them a spark, there are enough unemployed people to replace every T.F.W. in the land.

  16. LeFevour has had more playing time then Crompton and if the coach thinks that he is the better guy then why not make the move right away rather then waiting until it's to late.

Crompton IMO did a good job last season considering he came in cold and just won... but lots of those wins were Bishop in Toronto going 12-2 type of wins...

From my observation LeFevour seems to be either hot or cold so far, much better as a fill in or change of pace QB than an actual starter.

  17. Yes.  But, I dont think its that simple anymore.  i felt the same way: "If you want more money, get a better job".  But in some cases, we're talking people that are doing the job they can do.  And if they are loyal, hard working, pleasant and do that job well, shouldnt they get more for 10, 15, 20 years on the job?  How many McD's employees have been there 20 years?  Paying a premium at certain anniversaries cant cost that much.  And quite frankly, I'll pay an extra 50 cents for my quarter pounder...

I agree, but the fact is they don't honour such commitment.  Ask yourself why there needs to be a minimum wage set at all and the answer is clear.  Many companies would pay as close to zero as possible for labour and don't have the integrity to regulate themselves.  Dog eat dog is the motto.
