  1. The question is NOT what do you think the Bombers SHOULD do BUT what do you think they will do: Are they going to make small incremental changes going into next year? or Are they going to make some major changes and shake things up a bit? They have not made the playoffs in a while ... are they just going to add a couple of better cogs to the machinery ... will they think that's enough to change our destiny?
  2. end of 2014 cap money means should be some activity .... big Q is will we lock up any more of our key free agents before year end nothing great or poor here
  3. Leaving Sears as a healthy scratch, continuously playing Kuale, Bryant & Grigsby. Roster decisions like that really make me question whether or not O'Shea will be a successful coach for us. This is what worries me about MOS whether these personnel decisions were stubbornness, phiilosophy or poor judgment
  4. Any body following how his year has gone? How about other 1st year CFLers down there?
  5. I thought contracts were good till February .... are PR contracts different?
  6. We might possibly see a contract extension or two with the balance of the remaining 2014 cap money ... but holidays are now going to dominate .... can't see any coordinator moves muddying the seasonal celebrations ... time for contemplation & reflection Think on you managers ... critical decisions coming up soon clarity coming to a town near you
  7. Since we want to toughen up our D maybe we could bring in Angelo Mosca as DC and to keep things lively Joe Kapp as OC
  8. When was the last time a "virgin" American came in as a coordinator and done a good job? (By virgin I mean not coached recently in the CFL)
  9. "gettin' any younger" ... OL playing years can be very many if health holds ... only kickers and maybe QBs last longer
  10. When you don't have a destination HC or co-ordinator job (and coming off of 5 really bad years, we don't), you can't walk around like you have one. If you'll recall, the exact same line of thinking you are espousing, is what got us stuck with Etch last year. The better guys took the better jobs, and we got stuck with what was left. So we can live with Etch?
  11. Actually it has a lot to do with the other CFL clubs. Both in individuals that are now available (Would Benevides be an improvement from Etch as a DC?) and also in the size of the contract needed to secure a coach in the future. Also in another form do those open jobs hold any interest in current Bomber coaches. Everything that happens in the CFL has a ripple effect on the other teams. The coaches in CFL bounce around from team to team. For every move in one direction there has to be a move in the other direction. The coaches are looking at their options too so there is going to be delays on both sides. Even if deals have been made, announcements might not want to be made to space out the media attention if nothing else. I understand impatience but maybe I am wrong but expect a lot of the posters here have been around a few years or been involved in some business and understand these things are complicated with lots of competing agendas. Above all I can't imagine anything more ridiculous than announcing firing someone without having a replacement in hand. fire first hire later is common ... it does a fine job of achieving clarity for all involved you would only look for upgrade with the incumbent in place if you are reasonably satisfied with his work
  12. " I would suspect they have made at least one if not more coaching decisions, and are simply trying to "time" releasing it to get the best media impact (or something.)" .... I don't think you can sit on announcements like we did in the good ole days ... too much social media leakage
  13. Barring a complete implosion of epic proportions, O'Shea has to be safe until at least the end of next season. All coaches are on borrowed time and darned few leave on their own terms, but O'Shea's achilles heel may be his stubborness and being unwilling to change things /people when they are not working. I agree that it would be a very bad sign if we go into next season with the same cast as this year. Change for the sake of change is pointless but change when it is warranted is a good thing. "O'Shea's achilles heel may be his stubborness and being unwilling to change things /people when they are not working" ... you can say that again ... my biggest worry about him really
  14. What often gets left out of this thought process - maybe they just have better things to do with their time than appease the fans with a pointless press conference. I'd rather they be working, myself. Impatience debatable, entitlement no. If one says, impatient or not "I'd like to know, I need to know, We should know now" does not mean they think they are entitled. If however one starts to say things like "Management owes me an explanation' that's another story. This thread isn't about entitlement or impatience ... never was ... some want to frame it as that but that is just plain missing the point Since MOS took over this ball club, his communication with the fan base has been ... well, I don't know: lets say limited (or inadequate, politically correct ... rarely frank) ... that's the point Walters & Miller have not made up for O'Shea's shortcomings in this matter The other original point was about our fear based on last year's tardiness in grabbing coaching talent ... no one wants to experience the same problem twice We are hoping for better but fearing the same ... that's the 2nd point We are looking for some communication of confidence .... not being some little impatient school girls Condescending .... sheesh
  15. Your Post - - This is what I am trying to say. I am looking for some sign of life from management .... not entitlement to every little detail. This feels like the silent treatment to me ... and we as fans are just supposed to be good soldiers and endure whatever the generals send our way .... I have got better things to do with my life
  16. I will take false entitlement over no entitlement ... fans are not ever entitled ... they just vote with their pocket book ... they sort of know how management feels about them ... and sometimes they just feel small, diminished
  17. "It's being handled internally":... Not since the Mike Kelly days have I personally been so put off by media relations between our Blue executive and the faithful posters on this board. Or more precisely, the lack of any substance being put forward to us. Maybe it's just me imagining things but as a fan I feel like I am being "handled" although not so blatantly as in the Kelly days. I don't like the "polite" communication I feel like we are getting. Are we as fans getting the respect we deserve from O'Shea, Walters and Miller? I don't want them throwing people under the bus but I would like to see some frankness and open honesty. Media things can be played too close to the vest sometimes. Is it happening now? Either management is deliberately keeping us, the fans, in the dark, for whatever reason. Or else, they are very slow deliberators and decision-makers. I hope the problem I'm feeling is about their communication style and not about the ability to formulate a new success plan for next year.
  18. I thought Barker has done a good job fo the Argos .... huge injuries and no $$$ to bring in replacements
  19. I am not at all confident about what the Blue are going to do about our coordinators .. in fact I feel nervous about what is being argued out behind the scenes
  20. Wally is a real arm-twister ... it may be what he is best at ... intimidation .... possible reason for not so great team chemistry ... ask Andrew Harris
  21. Go Bombers .... next year's champs not chumps
  22. Based on what? There's literally no trend to support this statement. JJust my own observation
