  1. What is the strength and weaknesses of our Canadian starters? What kind of two year plan do we put in place to improve the talent level of our Canadians?
  2. Stubler (I think) said the whole concept of "half-time adjustments" was something coaches made up for half-time TV interviews. Yes all-the-time adjustments are required ... that's what press boxes are for
  3. Is Drew Willey going to be treated as the anointed one? How hard will we work at re-signing Brohm? Will there be an open competition for the starting spot at QB? Will Willey have a lot of latitude or will he be on a short string? How will the backup QBs be managed? Will Walters & Miller have a role to play in QB management?
  4. I neither love nor hate Hall ... he has a track record such as it is What's the downside on Hall? Did the Riders fire him for no good reason? Are the Riders stupid? Or was it just time for a change, sorta like time to change your underwear?
  5. Same gut said 4 burgers was a good idea....My gut told me to have 4 rum & cokes last night, a bag of chips, chip dip & then finish off a turkey wing & leg while watching a John Wayne DVD (Angel & The Bad Man) at 1 am this morning, Bad gut. Baaaaad gut!!! Ugh!!! just shows how gut is related to judgment
  6. all analytics .... what's your gut saying, really? it's not about being right .... it's that little voice in your head called intuition a couple of cogs in the wheel is not going to be the deciding factor for the year, is it?
  7. I go into each year with such lofty expectations of the Blue ... and lately I have been so disappointed I know what my heart says We all have our analytics about how the Bombers look for the coming season ... but that's left brain What is your right brain telling you about what's ahead?
  8. Agreed. The CFL needs a strong Toronto franchise. Hopefully get them out of the Dome and onto to BMO field. Maybe Torontoians will now realize the city isn't NFL material after the Bills cancelled their Toronto dates, and actually embrace their CFL team. Toronto is all about trendy ... A NY or California wannabe ... they have a small but dedicated fan base but good luck adding to that ... BMO field would make things more intimate and affordable (its very, very easy to spend $200 on a CFL outing: downtown and the SkyDome is major expensive)... the CFL will never satisfy the trendy mindset and that's why its been a nightmare for traditional marketing ... they need to develop some kind of new niche/specialty fan identity (non trendy types) to add to the existing fan base ... that means marketing has to change their methods and quit being so shallow ... they need a brand that fits and has the right distinctness ... "bigger & better" won't work in Toronto & "just as good" certainly won't ... they need to find that portion of the population that would be proud of our long time Canadian heritage that care more about football than keeping up with (not the Jones but) NY & LA
  9. Well I was certainly wrong about nothing happening till the new year .... I would like to be wrong more often
  10. we may think highly of Brohm but is the rest of the league seeing him as more than a retread?
  11. Add Washington to the list? Anybody know if Washington is determined to become a free agent?
  12. The question is NOT what do you think the Bombers SHOULD do BUT what do you think they will do: Are they going to make small incremental changes going into next year? or Are they going to make some major changes and shake things up a bit? They have not made the playoffs in a while ... are they just going to add a couple of better cogs to the machinery ... will they think that's enough to change our destiny?
  13. end of 2014 cap money means should be some activity .... big Q is will we lock up any more of our key free agents before year end nothing great or poor here
  14. Leaving Sears as a healthy scratch, continuously playing Kuale, Bryant & Grigsby. Roster decisions like that really make me question whether or not O'Shea will be a successful coach for us. This is what worries me about MOS whether these personnel decisions were stubbornness, phiilosophy or poor judgment
  15. Any body following how his year has gone? How about other 1st year CFLers down there?
  16. I thought contracts were good till February .... are PR contracts different?
  17. We might possibly see a contract extension or two with the balance of the remaining 2014 cap money ... but holidays are now going to dominate .... can't see any coordinator moves muddying the seasonal celebrations ... time for contemplation & reflection Think on you managers ... critical decisions coming up soon clarity coming to a town near you
  18. Since we want to toughen up our D maybe we could bring in Angelo Mosca as DC and to keep things lively Joe Kapp as OC
  19. When was the last time a "virgin" American came in as a coordinator and done a good job? (By virgin I mean not coached recently in the CFL)
  20. "gettin' any younger" ... OL playing years can be very many if health holds ... only kickers and maybe QBs last longer
  21. When you don't have a destination HC or co-ordinator job (and coming off of 5 really bad years, we don't), you can't walk around like you have one. If you'll recall, the exact same line of thinking you are espousing, is what got us stuck with Etch last year. The better guys took the better jobs, and we got stuck with what was left. So we can live with Etch?
  22. Actually it has a lot to do with the other CFL clubs. Both in individuals that are now available (Would Benevides be an improvement from Etch as a DC?) and also in the size of the contract needed to secure a coach in the future. Also in another form do those open jobs hold any interest in current Bomber coaches. Everything that happens in the CFL has a ripple effect on the other teams. The coaches in CFL bounce around from team to team. For every move in one direction there has to be a move in the other direction. The coaches are looking at their options too so there is going to be delays on both sides. Even if deals have been made, announcements might not want to be made to space out the media attention if nothing else. I understand impatience but maybe I am wrong but expect a lot of the posters here have been around a few years or been involved in some business and understand these things are complicated with lots of competing agendas. Above all I can't imagine anything more ridiculous than announcing firing someone without having a replacement in hand. fire first hire later is common ... it does a fine job of achieving clarity for all involved you would only look for upgrade with the incumbent in place if you are reasonably satisfied with his work
  23. " I would suspect they have made at least one if not more coaching decisions, and are simply trying to "time" releasing it to get the best media impact (or something.)" .... I don't think you can sit on announcements like we did in the good ole days ... too much social media leakage
  24. Barring a complete implosion of epic proportions, O'Shea has to be safe until at least the end of next season. All coaches are on borrowed time and darned few leave on their own terms, but O'Shea's achilles heel may be his stubborness and being unwilling to change things /people when they are not working. I agree that it would be a very bad sign if we go into next season with the same cast as this year. Change for the sake of change is pointless but change when it is warranted is a good thing. "O'Shea's achilles heel may be his stubborness and being unwilling to change things /people when they are not working" ... you can say that again ... my biggest worry about him really
