  1. If true, this is nothing less than insane. None of the Argo QBs have a good track record, Collaros could have his concussions reappear when he sneezes, Bethel-Thompson could not stick here the first time and Franklin has been a complete bust. What is there to like?
  2. Hell, I would help O'Shea pack, but Walters has done a very good job, especially considering that he was a rookie GM when he stepped into the job. That is not to say that he is irreplaceable, but its hard to fault Walters on the basis of the body of his work thus far.
  3. "Doing their jobs" is not good enough, particularly when other teams can rebuild on the fly and compete. That is damning with faint praise. Would you go repeatedly to a restaurant that consistently served mediocre food?
  4. As the RedBacks are demonstrating, any team that can do not better than these two is in trouble.
  5. It still comes down to the concept that the truth of our lives is not in what we say but what we do. And O'Shea has kept and defended his coordinators for years in the face of good evidence that they are not doing the job.
  6. He may have been attending a necktie party.
  7. But they were the head coaches, so your logic is flawed.
  8. If the criteria you use to assess a coaching staff is regular season wins, then why agitate to fire the assistant coaches, yet keep O'Shea? Why are there playoffs at all? If the point is not to win the Cup, what is the goal?
  9. If I follow your logic, the Als would have kept Sherman and the Argos should keep Chamblin and the Lions should keep their head coach as well.
  10. Let's see how many playoff games the Bombers win- the sum total to date under O'Shea is......one.
  11. "Everyone"??? Hardly.
  12. That was one game, and hardly representative of a trend any more than a cold day means climate shift.
  13. And keeping this lot hasn't in six years, either. While O'Shea was head coach, During his time, several other clubs have resurrected their fortunes, most recently the Riders and the Alouettes- both with rookie coaches.
  14. And this is why I believe that O'Shea has used up all of his Mulligans. He just cannot see that there are any significant core problems.
  15. When I was living in southern Alberta, I happened to meet a retired historian who had an insight into why Alberta and southern Alberta in particular is so like Alabama. Apparently after the American Civil war (and we know who lost that), a lot of disgruntled southerners went westward into what is now Montana along with slaves. When they found out that they could no longer keep slaves there, either, they had a collective hissy-fit and came up into the Milk River of Alberta area hoping that they could continue slavery there. When they could not, they decided to stay out of spite against their "oppressive" American government. Then the oil boom in the 20;s and 30;s came bringing scores of American oilmen from Texas and Oklahoma. And here we are.
  16. Miller and Walters have earned a stay of execution, but O"Shea is still exhibiting the same problematic behaviours and poor judgement that he has soon after he got here. O'Shea is responsible for hiring, supervising and keeping the underperforming assistants.
  17. This will be a shocking heresy to many in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
  18. How dare they add players to improve their team! Here we have stuck with the same old same old in compliance with league rules and they don't! Unfair and the league should fine them.
  19. The Bomber team that has played the last 6 quarters was not the same team that humbled the Riders and I wonder if they will be again. The Riders have gotten better over the season, especially their o-line with the return of LaBatte. Like it or not, the Bombers (including the coaches) have to be fighting for their jobs. I am no longer sure if the Bombers can win this one. If they lose, its officially free-fall.
  20. We can only hope.
  21. Might be worth hiring him for the entertainment value of watching his melt-downs on the sidelines.
  22. I am not sure that having yet another rookie head coach is a good idea- we suffered through a lot of teething problems with O'Shea and this ought to be enough of a veteran team that we do not need to go through another learning curve. Is Trestman available and interested?
  23. There has been speculation in this forum for some time that O'Shea's stubbornness/blind loyalty to "his" people would be his undoing and it appears we are pretty much there. His supporters will point to the quarterback problems and those game or parts of games when the team looked unstoppable, but he has had ample time to fix whatever the hell is wrong with the team and/or subordinate coaches. This is not a personal attack on O'Shea's personality or work ethic. I have little doubt that he has given this his best shot but the results are just not there to support his continued tenure as head coach. We are looking at the classic definition of insanity here if he stays.
  24. A legend in his own mind.
