I think we broke him....and his will to play
-
hasn't wowed me at all...and there are some talented guys in camp...ones with different body types aswell that I think would be beneficial...hopefully he isnt getting the spot....for the "just cause he was here last yr and we liked him" mantra
-
100%...and he still was impactful and teams schemed away from him...give him some actual legit help....he will flourish
-
thats what I like...if guys like him...Fox..Adams...eat em up...and Moses/Gemmel/Petrishen show well and make some impactfull plays...and based on all them save for Adams who hasn't played showing well then in 2 games...and against a lot of teams starters....how can they be sent packing?....make it hard on Osh so he just cant fall back on his old relieables....
-
Jefferson's game hasn't eroded at all...and I see him thriving if we have a solid active interior, and 2 other ends who will require attention...which he hasnt had the luxury of the last 2 yrs...and got worn down in games, and yes had to take some plays off and just look to bat a pass down...DE is a tough spot to play balls out for all your snaps if you don't get sufficient rotation rest...and I have said since last yr garbutt by what I saw was the best of the DE's other than WJ....so we in good hands with the 2 young ends The ace in hole is I think Younger...and how he will deploy the back end guys, and use them in blitz and scheme...whereas they are actually seeking and destroyng as opposed to just gumming up a blocker....it's gonna free up or dline to make more play....very encouraged from the small snippets I seen and some stuff I picked up on at TC.....I quite sure WJ will be our MODP candidate again and it will be a unanimus pick

With Wilson I'd like to see more progression from game 1 and if he looks even more comfortable...he settled in nicely as game went on, so hopefully the last week or so of practice really helped him along...Intruiged what Grainger will do with only 5 days here...he has a primo tool kit to work with tho....2 nice prospects none the less Smith I hope locks up that returner job and utility piece for the offence, as well as shows well that he can be a change of pace back...something we been really lacking....I said all along I expect him to impress and be on the roster the day we signed him...so this is his chance to prove it...Rosery is interesting...I can see him being turned into a Demski clone, and I like that prospect... The defence is where I am most interested...Does Adams make the case that 2 import DT's can't be ignored? I think he just may, and Woods as well is no slouch either....Wanna see what River's does with a heavier workload and make a case to be on the PR at minimum....and develop further as I assume Haba and garbutt must be locks for the game day roster barring injury....depending how we allocate our imports technicallly neither need to be a DI The real litmus test, and in my opinion huge decison is the linebackers...I am 100 percent certain Wilson will be one the starters...and 2 yrs removed from achilles should be back to being total Wilson...But who's in the middle....Gauthier is a nice depth piece but time to turn the page and let a new guy grow into it...we have 3 guys who are more than capable with a veteran laden unit we will be putting out there, and there is a good chance we cah dress 2 of Moses/Petrishen/Gemmel...so the time is now. Tre Thomas also deserves a hard serious look....He would be perfect in the role Cole occupied as a DI....
-
true....but the manlove is strong there too....a different love haha....and unless Walter's doesnt re-up him Osh will keep trottng him out there sadly
-
Thomas too...
-
If that's what you want to call it
-
Yup...agreed...time for him to transition like Miller...and if we need him in a pinch the last quarter of the season I sure we could milk 4 games outta him and playoffs with fresh legs...where he could make an impact playing balls out I think petrishen rotating with Wilson and Moses in middle..along side the human missile Cole in varying schemes and formations would be a killer collection...especially with a really active import DT and 2 athletic ends beside WJ rotating in...a second import DT spelled off by a Canadian not named Thomas would give us an elite front 7...and very tough to handle
-
Well history shows Osh will still dress his vets injury or no injury...slowed down play...ineffective over a full game...and basically said as much in recent presser...he will take the vet over pretty much any new or newer guy unless they really stand out with physical attributes..etc...so safe to say we are handcuffed with old in the tooth declining guys until they are literally unable to walk..unless Walter's takes it out of his hands and doesn't resign them And we know that won't happen as again...history has shown he won't take advantage of that to benefit his roster. Tho this yr he likely will to save an old favorite instead of using it on a usefully guy like Jefferson...Nichols...Wilson and then roster an additional new young hungry stud...
-
in some instances....he leans too much on the "veteran" narrative....once skill and effectiveness as well as durability trumps the veteran status...it's time to move on....or at very least transition on the fly
-
I expect to seefor week 1 Lawson..Biggie..Parker on the 6 game...BA likely on a perpetual 1 game for a bit, and likely another vet....Hopefully Thomas if our import rookies make it too hard to sit one not named Fox and Schmeck show's he can compete against the Cgy starters with a high dose of reps as the rotational guy to spell one of them off. Curious to see what Samson shows too...whom I think has a higher ceiling
-
A preseason...home game you have zero roster restrictions so point being made is there no excuse for a vet..who is a defacto starter to get even a few snaps...but that being said some vets have seen zero...and are they being gifted spots again and this group of talent brought in is just basically filling a roster in preseason as you have to basically with no shot at all. Is a Thomas...Gauthier...Alexander...even Biggie just awarded their spot...cause they been here? Have we had an in game comparison against the same players to compare? Swapping reps? Nope...so how can you truly evaluate...u can't. And the guys in this game vying for the receiver spot...playing with 2 raw rookies..behind a makeshift online...against 3/4's of Calgary's starters...how do you make a legit assessment there? Again you can't...sure you can see some things in practice and in 7 on 7's but it's not the same as a game...and some guys aren't practice phenoms but light it up when lights come on..whereas some are practice Allstars but it just doesn't translate in a game Only guy who can really flip the script is the running back if he can go off and make plays and churn out the yards behind a raw and newbie laden online I'm excited tho for the front 7 and if they produce...set the tone and eat up their competition you would think it bodes well for a Fox and say Adam's interior combo...and Moses and Petrishan being rostered...we can go all import front 7 easily and if these guys show well against the CGY starters why would you not go with them...some these guys already have vs sask starters as well
-
good question,,,the system sure didnt do him any favours in Sask....mind you the talent around him was sub par too Another question is what would the VAJ have looked like bhind our line...with a actual run game...and our receivers?? 2022 he couldn't move...plant...or throw on run and after firat quarter should have been parked....in 2023 he had 2 reciever who had zero explosion or ability to make any move (Schoen and Bailey) and another in Demski who was maybe 80 percent and serviceable....serviceable if youhad 4 other guys who were impactful. I hope this yr we can see him in playoffs as healthy as healthy can be now we have Strev here as I think the team will be more apt to put him in to close out games...or jump start us if we are stagnant than they were with Brown....and keep him from taking as many shots, and being more fresh
-
Yup...I think its Wilson or Mitchell...dark horse Johnson.....
-
not denying he wasn't...the stats for most prt had him atop most the categories...tho last yr too was a case of being the tallest short kid...or the smartest dumn kid too.....so there is that...I want him and nobody else as our starter and we in fine shape there...the only other guy I would have wanted other than ZC is a guy we signed as his backup...so we good!
-
yeah....I have zero worries of the offence....we will put up points, and we will grind teams out...I more curious as to what the defence loks like...and with Yunger running it...we may actually get a influx of new blood as he will def run a more aggressive and attacking unit
-
I had BO as our MOP....We did just fine with Brown and BO...but if BO was to have been out for an extended time...with what we had behind him...we'd have been hooped...and I dont care what TSN trumpets...means cacka
-
Her's a scenario...Tre Thomas or Petrishen earns the WIL spot...and Wilson with his experience slides to MLB....Moses DI'd and allowed to be eased in...I can see that also....would welcome it too....and we do well and Biggie "needs" another 6 games
-
If Haba and Garbutt both get awarded a spot on active roster...by yr end I can see Garbutt the better of the 2....but both will be in the upper tier of Ends....so thats a total win any way you slice it
-
theyare vying to play in lieu of gauthier...Cole has zero to prove playing besie a fringe incumbant...he already established a heavy rotation last yr in various spots withing various schemes....and as per some people presumptions of how a guy should be given his "spot" in the starting lineup...he put in his 1 yr as a Pr and odd ST service yr...a 2nd yr of rostered most of the yr...and solid and at time spectacular service...so yr 3 he should be handed the job...no? He also did a yr with the Elks too on a PR stint
-
and play the Jack too on occasion...as he did last yr I also think Kramdi is best served as that swiss army utility guy....I never said cut him....but he shouldnt be starting, and....but he can be a serviceable in game back up to injury at SAM...Safety tho....and is good on teams too. Garbutt is being rested as not 100 percent, and Haba I am sure was pencilled in as the end opposite WJ before camp even started, as thats how we seem to do things, but he has also earned it as well and appears even better than last year as well....A WJ/Haba/Garbutt trio will be really good, and assume is what we see Game 1. I sure hope tho someone steps up and makes it impossible to not roll with 2 import DT's who can run multiple techniques for us tho....raoter config wise we are able to do it...
-
If Kramdi...Gauthier..Thomas are in lineup starting with hardly a rep at all....combined with legitimate talent, superior to what they bring showing well....and I sure some will again tomorrow...then something is seriously wrong here
-
why?...he clearly isnt the best guy available for that spot...regardless of using "well he was there last yr" as an excuse...as he wasn't the best option then either...the bolded part is how teams start to fail...then fall...and fall hard.... he wasn't even the front runner on our team....
