HF..we are gonna hang 50 on them.
-
I'm a little surprised. I was told the Bombers were a shadow of their former selves and BC had surpassed us.

I agree

It was a clear horse collar. MOS challenge was more of a time out.

CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

He has massive deficiencies in his play. His high tackle totals are a red herring hiding the fact he can only play within the tackles and 5 yards of the LOS. He is a throw back MIKE. Defences use their MIKE differently now. -
I would say that the 5 games we've won have all been pretty dominant on the scoreboard....you know....where it matters. The lowest margin of victory in those 5 games was 11 points. I'm not turning a blind eye to anything. I just don't think it's realistic to expect any team to dominate all 4Qs of every game. It rarely happens, even in our Grey Cup years. Tons of people here thinking we were a lot more dominant than what we were because that's what happens when you are winning championships. We have had a couple rough stretches of play this year but we have absolutely dominated the scoreboard in victory, and shat the bed for a period of 3 minutes in Ottawa after completely dominating them for 57 minutes....and we got completely beat down by BC in one game. Just like last year when Hamilton crushed us, or in 2021 when we surrendered a big lead to the hapless Argos and lost. I don't get why people are questioning our offence? Yes sacks are up significantly which needs to be corrected but otherwise our O numbers are virtually identical to 2021 and 2022? Those years were good enough for our QB to win back 2 back MOPs.
-
This is how we've played ball since 2019. I think our Grey Cup champ status has a lot of people forgetting that we've pulled out a ton of victories on 4th Q dominance in the last few years. Also, DT has already confirmed that QB pressures are actually down from last year even though sacks are up. That's not poor protection, that's a change in our O game plan that can be fixed. We are 5-2 and on pace for a 12-13 win season...if that is shitting the bed I'll take it.
-
I guess we should just give up and start the rebuild if we lose tonight then. This is our playoffs.
-
You don't know that. Tons can happen. Tons. You are talking like teams have never fell off down the stretch, and it happens almost every year. Also, sometimes crap teams get their act together. It can happen. Are you willing to write off the entire league at this point save Toronto, BC, and us? I'm not. Last year Toronto was not very good through the first 9 games. They were 4-5 I believe and then became a juggernaut in the 2nd half.
-
Gotta remember that last game we played them we were missing half our secondary and half our starting DL as well. They rolled up some points on us and forced our offence out of the game plan. I just think we are fielding a vastly superior lineup this week.
-
I think what we have seen so far is game ones against the opposition. Once you face them a 2nd time the coaching cream rises to the top generally.
-
We were rolling on them early in the last game too, until discipline became an issue and things snowballed from there. I think a lot of people who've never played really don't understand the mental aspect of momentum sometimes. We got snowed under, and it was of our own making. They had a 80 yd TD drive on penalties. That shook our defence.
-
The players can yap all they want about just another game but I guarantee that guys like Stan and Yosh have had this circled on their calendar for a while now.
-
For sure. I will bet on Winnipeg over BC in the playoffs no matter where they play. It's the smart bet. We are battle tested with a far superior QB and we know that our D always ratchets up to a new level in the playoffs.
-
Don't get me wrong. I'm pretty stoked to see the additions this week. I, also, think that Hall and Buck will have masterful game plans ready with the extra week. Preparedness will not be an issue this week.
-
No, that's not true. It would be tougher for sure and out of our control, but definitely not impossible. You are assuming that BC plays at a high level all year. I am not willing to bet that quite yet. Yes, we would need help or a small BC collapse in the 2nd half. BC still hasn't seen the meat of it's schedule yet so don't count either of those things out. They get it pretty rough in the 2nd half. A lot of divisional games.
-
Yea...I hope we don't see too much rust but I expect them to be flying around.
-
Seasons aren't won or lost or determined over the course of one game or two in the first half of the season. If we lose tonight the only thing we need to admit is that we have some work to do before the playoffs come. Lots, and I mean lots of things happen in a 2nd half of a CFL season. Declaring BC the Western champs at this point would be insane. A loss tonight just makes our road tougher, it doesn't make the road end. That's just nonsense. However, a loss tonight would provide a pretty good gauge of what we need to do.
-
For sure. Physicality will be at a premium. I expect BC players to be taking a number of stupid penalties tonight. No one's punched them in the mouth this year yet. We will. I agree. Just pointing out that our roster, even though it could be slightly better, is a pretty darn good one. He may not be quite ready to go. Maybe he re-aggravated something?

I agree. I think Sankey is the most over rated MLB in the past several years. Great tackler but has areas of great weakness that no one wants to talk about. -
Not insignificant adds...also Rose. The guys are going bat**** crazy over roster management again but this is the strongest lineup we've had all year.
-
Yea....give him some work rotationally to earn his spot. He is a SY guy and very good at it. If he can spell off our DL starters for a few snaps a game it would be good rostering as he can be an emergency OL as well.

I have no doubt that Wilson can cover, Sankey is very one dimensional though and Alexander will have to cover his weaknesses down the middle. -

True....but they weren't completely incompetent either. I'm not a Sankey fan but Biggie at WIL and Sankey at MIKE would be pretty scary. Alexander would have to find his game pretty quick though. -
I like our OL a heck of a lot more than their OL. They haven't faced both the Jeffs yet. Evans will be creamed...book it.
