Fair points all around, I'm NOT trying to ban all roster talk, especially on game day. It is part of the game, and there’s legit analysis in how the roster is deployed. I guess where I’m coming from is that in the lead-up to the game, it feels like we’re stuck in a loop. Every week, the pre-game thread turns into “why is this guy dressed?” and “why is this guy still starting?”—and it’s the same exact arguments, just copy/pasted with new timestamps.
Meanwhile, deeper football discussion—like matchups, tendencies, coaching decisions, even basic excitement about the game—gets buried. I think we’d get more out of both if we gave roster discourse its own space where people can go as deep or repetitive as they want without drowning everything else out.
Imagine a dedicated “Roster Management 2025” thread where folks can:
Debate the PR guys getting starts
Vent about the GM’s decisions
Track the depth chart shuffles week to week
And then the Pre-Game thread could focus more on stuff like:
What we think the offensive game plan will be
Who’s going to have a breakout game
What we need to do to stop [opponent’s key players]
I think there’s space for both types of discussion. Just trying to keep things from feeling stale or one-dimensional. Just my .02.
Anyways, enjoy the game to those who are going. I will be there as well and enjoying a beautiful Manitoba Summer night!
