  1. What should he do? Congress wouldn't even pass a ban on assault weapons. Why does anybody need an assault rifle? I read a great line on twitter: "In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over." If the President of the United States can't rally enough support or power or favours or simply shame congress into acting, then there is no hope. I agree, why does anyone need an assault rifle. And there is no answer. It comes down to the American's misrepresentation of the 2nd amendment. And this warped idea that the people must be allowed to be armed like the military to keep the government honest. Which is absurd for many reasons, not least of which is, if the government wanted to wipe out some group of nutbars living in the backwards and armed to the teeth, they would. And they'd win. The American people get intimidated by the gun lobby. "If they take my assault rifle, whats next? Are they going to take away your internet??" Slippery slope BS.
  2. Someone who was pretty cool 5-10 years ago who will be in a thick parka and barely moving while their lips freeze and make it awkward as they try to sing along to their "backing track" and get the heck out of there.
  3. America has a problem that contributes to several other problems and that's the nature of their politics make their politicians gutless. The gun lobby are a bunch of morons hiding like cowards behind the constitution but they have enough puppets on congress to ensure no real gun control ever gets passed. The sad thing is, these mass shootings happen to the innocent. Just let one mass shooting happen at an NRA meeting. Oh but it would never happen because the tough NRA crowd would shoot back. Sure they would. Uh huh. Seeing people fawning over Obama's outrage is hilarious. Dont tell us you're angry. Again. Do something.
  4. I think that Justin is going to fold and retract his statement about not working with Harper. Let Mulcair ride that stupid train right into the sun. Imagine a scenario where shortly before the election, the Cons are in a fairly comfortable lead, not quite majority but within striking distance. Harper appeals to the public to return them to majority and avoid another immediate election. Trudeau responds by saying well wait, we would work with the government to avoid another costly election the people dont want. Harper replies but we wouldnt work with you. Wins majority. Well, one can dream anyway.
  5. Regardless, Im not sure if Peluso serves a useful purpose anymore. If they want the option of an enforcer for games where they think people will take liberties, then waive him to the Moose and sign Raffl
  6. Roseburg, Oregon (CNN)The gunman who opened fire at Oregon's Umpqua Community College singled out Christians, according to the father of a wounded student. Before going into spinal surgery, Anastasia Boylan told her father the gunman entered her classroom firing. "I've been waiting to do this for years," the gunman told the professor teaching the class. He shot him point blank, Boylan recounted. Others were hit too, she told her family. Everyone in the classroom dropped to the ground. The gunman, while reloading his handgun, ordered the students to stand up and asked if they were Christians, Boylan told her family. "And they would stand up and he said, 'Good, because you're a Christian, you're going to see God in just about one second,'" Boylan's father, Stacy, told CNN, relaying her account. "And then he shot and killed them." Boylan, 18, was hit in the back by a bullet that traveled down her spine. While she lay bleeding on the floor, the gunman called out to her, "Hey you, blond woman," her mother said. She played dead -- and survived. ****Gee if only all those student had guns too, this would never have happened. When will America wake up and realise MORE GUNS is the answer!
  7. I'd defer to the coaches. if they think it was a good thing, so be it. But Raffl didnt seem like he was hesitating. And he's not a "skilled" player per se who you'd want to protect from himself. I think it was Peluso looking for something all game, I bet and was going to make his opportunity to remind management what he brings to the table.
  8. At first I thought "way to go Peluso" but I think it was Peluso being very concerned. He didnt play well, has shown nothing and Raffl is a much better every day player on that 4th line. And if Raffl can fight, why keep Peluso. But now we will never know. I also thought it was cheap. If it wasnt Raffl...if it was Ehlers or Scheif or Petan or whomever, then all day long jump in and protect your guy. But if the roles were reversed and an opposing player challenged...say, Burmi to a fight and they dropped their gloves and suddenly that team's enforcer jumped in, we'd be calling for a suspension.
  9. Makes sense for Lipon to go back to Moose. Im on the fence with Petan. Realistically, he's good enough to make the team. If he loses the spot to Peluso or Raffl or Lipon or whomever, it wont be because they beat him on talent or versatility. But there might be something to be said for playing big time, top line, top PP minutes for the Moose. On the Jets, he will play the 7 minute 4th line role and Maurice will try and get him some extra minutes but it wont be the same as playing 20 minutes for the Moose. Hopefully they find a way to keep Raffl.
  10. That is one thought. But it's very odd for him. He's a supreme compNy guy and ratifs are tanking and he just regained the U.S. title. It's odd he's leave now. There is also talk it could be family health. His brother reportedly has cancer.
  11. Observer WWE U.S. Champion John Cena will be taking time off from wrestling shortly for what the WWE has described as personal reasons. While we don't know the exact time frame that he will be gone, the 38-year-old Cena isn't advertised on anything after the Hell in a Cell PPV special in late-October starting with the next night's RAW in San Diego, CA. As of now, he is being advertised for their December shows. As part of the time off, WWE officials have confirmed he will not be appearing on any dates during the company's upcoming 10-day European tour that will see them do shows in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Germany. Cena recently regained the U.S. title from WWE World Champion Seth Rollins at WWE Night Of Champions, and is set to face Rollins in a steel cage match for the title this Saturday at the Madison Square Garden show on WWE Network.
  12. Yeah I saw some chatter about the audience laughing at JT. How can anyone take this guy seriously. And I agree about the bonehead move to basically announce they would force another election. I guess the plan was the opposition was ahead and felt the gun to the head would force voters to vote for them. Now the cons Are leading it might have the opposite effect. If the trend continues Id expect to see harper appeal to voters to return them to majority at some point.
  13. Thoughts Scheif is going to lead the team in scoring. He looks like the most complete player. Really like chiarot. Looks to have increased his offensive confidence. Petan makes things happen. Ehlers very exciting. Not much from burmi What was Peluso thinking? Probably that he had done nothing this year and was competing with Raffl for a spot. If Raffl can fight then sign him waive Peluso. Raffl is good. Ladd hurt already? Myers is very talented. Also hutch was solid.
  14. CBC Slowly but surely, the Conservatives have inched up in the polls, putting them in the best position they have held since this long campaign began to win the most seats on election night. The CBC Poll Tracker shows the Conservatives holding a modest lead over the Liberals, with 32.5 per cent support against 30.4 per cent for the Liberals. The New Democrats sit in third with 27.2 per cent of the vote. With the currently projected levels of support countrywide, the Conservatives would win between 115 and 159 seats, with the Liberals taking 79 to 122 seats and the NDP winning between 88 and 112 seats. The Bloc could take between zero and two seats, and the Greens one. This gives the Tories a significant edge in the seat count, but still puts them below the 170 seats needed to form a majority government. This is a more important number for the Conservatives to reach than the other parties, considering that both Justin Trudeau and Tom Mulcair have said they would not support a minority Conservative government.
  15. Absolutely. Very difficult for people to change their mind. I think what entrenches people is the cheap shots. No one party can be all things to all people. We know that. If you vote NDP and they win you know they will do some stupid things. And same for the liberals and cons. But the sort of hyperbole and stuff puts people on the defensice so they defend their position Which was my point on the wheat board. At least two sides to every debate. Ive voted for linerals and cons and very close to voting NDP. I like to think I'm open minded. Just this time, nothing has changed my mind yet. If the liberals had someone not JT as leader they would have had a better chance of getting my vote though.

  17. Remember that line when you're stomping your feet about a coalition government. Accepting what is possible does not preclude speaking out against it. I think Coalitions are idiotic and defy the intent of Canadians. But if the Liberals and NDP do it, then the blame lays with the voters who let them.
  18. @Teddier: Jets play 14 games in November only 4 are at home Trade them at Christmas!
  19. Not even half the games? Hmmmm Is it just home games? Couldnt they pick up the feed for away games from the other team?
  20. If this is just the foreshadow to a deal being announced, so be it. Otherwise, lost a little bit of respect for our Captain today.
  21. Negotiation posturing? negotiation tactic and quite honestly, Im disappointed Ladd would say that publicly. You're the captain of the team. Negotiations are what they but thats for your agent and the Jets to work on behind closed doors. Wrong thing for Ladd to say. If he DOES shut down talks, trade him. And I'd trade him sooner rather than later so we arent in the position of trading a core piece at the deadline that risks sinking our own season. I'd rather have a poor season on the back of a re-tooling then to fall out of the hunt after trading Ladd and Buff at the deadline.
  22. Is this "the many" you're referring to? In a September 2011 plebiscite (referendum) conducted by Meyers Norris Penny, 62% of CWB farmers voted that they wanted to keep the wheat board and its Single Desk power. A response only a politician could love. I have no dog in the fight on the Wheat Board but any suggestion "farmers" ie. all farmer were against it is absolutely false. And I believe support or lack thereof split down age and type of crop. It wasnt as simple as saying X amount opposed it. And again, Cons won. Did what they said they'd do. Dont like it, hope your guy wins because if he does he will do what he wants and the rest of us can whine about it but to the victor go the spoils. Thats democracy or something.
  23. Yup, PCW is us! Yeah Omega just regained the IWGP Junior title too. Not sure if he's bringing it this time. He had it earlier in the year and it was pretty cool to see. Mentallo trained Omega. So that match is going to be phenomenal.
  24. At the risk of shameless self promoting, reminder: Premier Championship Wrestling, this Saturday Night at Doubles Fun Club. Doors open at 8 (actually they are open all day but people like a firm time) Bell Time: 9PM. Here's the line up for those that might be familear with local guys Kenny Omega (New IWGP-New Japan World Junior Champion) vs Mentallo (worked Japan, CMLL, WWE) Antonio Scorpio vs Jackie Lee (trained by Lance Storm) - Match 3 of Best of 3 to crown new PCW Champion Mike Angels (worked Japan) vs Chad Tatum - Career vs Career London Dynasty vs Flex Appeal (great wrestlers from Saskatchewan) - Inter promotional Champ vs Champ unification tag title match Jay Walker vs Mystery Opponent - PCW Canadian Championship And more! This is an adults-only event (bar, VLT's etc). Venue has good sightlines, cold drinks and food menu. Tickets are $15. If you want to come, let me know and Ill comp my MBB friends (and frenemies).
