Im definitely ignorant to the business side of this. If I understand this correctly, we subsidize dairy farmers to the extent they are guaranteed a decent income? Should not be doing that. I do think there is merit to protecting Canadian industry and Im not necessarily in favour of a market that destroys that. I guess my initial reaction is simply that milk is not a necessity so the price isnt overly important. But as a taxpayer why are we subsidizing it? Is it one of those "we always did, so we always will"?

how much milk do you drink? It's not even about how much dairy I consume. Its about all the money our health care system wastes treating people with lifestly diseases (type 2 diabetes) when milk is 5 bucks a litre or more, artifically above demand due to commie practices and soda is a buck a litreNot the government's job to tell people to stop drinking soda by the keg. Although in general Im in favour of "sin" taxes including on things like soda which have zero value to humans and do harm (and I say THAT as a reformed Pepsi addict who LOVES Dr Pepper).Neither Milk nor Soda is a necessity. So the price should be market driven. I agree it should be market driven. Supply management isnt market driven. Im no dairy expert. Nor do I really care. If people drink Milk, that's their problem. Using Soda as an example, if Soda was $5 a litre, we wouldnt care if soda drinkers complained. Dont like it, dont drink it.

Tough decision though eh? Peluso fills the enforcer spot that you only want for, what, 30 games? Raffl is a far better player and can play every game and make the 4th line better. If Petan is on the 4th, doesnt Raffl-Copp-Petan sound decent?

I think teams are unlikely to ****** guys on Waiver. Need to settle their own line ups, play some games, see what shakes out. A guy like Harrison isnt so valuable you want to get him off waivers first and if you like him, he can be had pretty cheap at any time via trade. But I guess we will find out tomorrow if anyone was claimed. Though Harrison is a solid, if unspectacular veteran D man who comes cheap courtesy of the Canes.

how much milk do you drink? Realistically, unless you are a baby you shouldnt be drinking any milk. And even then it should be human milk. Dont get me wrong, I love some milk when I have some warm cookies to dip in them or cereal. But humans drinking milk is silly (and I say that as a reformed milk addict).

My guess is that anti-Harper crowd will find some things to complain about in this TPP deal and make it seem like the worst idea ever. Everyone else will accept it as a deal Canada had to do. Ive seen very, very little negative news coverage of this. Even CJOB had multiple "experts" on the other day and they were all in agreement about it being a "must do" deal that regardless of not being perfect, Canada had to have a seat at the table

@EdmontonOilers: #Oilers assign Leon Draisaitl to @Condors, finalizing 23-man roster. Jordan Eberle & Dillon Simpson not on active roster due to injury.
-
@reporterchris: Many veterans on waivers: #flames Mason Raymond (owed $6.3M the next two years), #bruins Max Talbot (owed $1M this season), among them.

Yeah I agree. If he was 24, its a no-brainer. But he's good enough he would have had other offers. For what he brings Im surprised the Flyers didnt offer him a PTO. Surprised if it's Ladd-Little-Wheeler and not Wheeler with Scheif. Though Scheif has looked good. He might be the Jets leading scorer this year.

Ken Wiebe @WiebeSunSports Looks like Jay Harrison has drawn the short straw for #NHLJets as @TSNBobMcKenzie says he's been placed on waivers As expected. He served us well. Will be a good veteran edition on the Moose if he makes it. He has value because Carolina is picking up part of his salary. Regarding Raffl, he said he'd take a two-way, then Lawless reported he wouldnt, then it was because his club team wouldnt allow it, then it was reported he would. So who knows. But I like him.

Couldnt the opposite be true? If you're an OC with dreams of a HC gig playing under a HC that could be fired... I could totally see Wade wanting Khari here and him being the guy promoted to Interim HC if MOS got canned mid-season.
-
I'd suspect he starts on the 4th line but gets PP time. Wouldnt surprise me to see some changes within or after the first month. If they feel Petan isnt developing enough playing 4th line (plus PP) minutes, he can go to the Moose for top line minutes. If Burmi doesnt adapt more to the Jets style, he might find himself on the 4th line...though he'd get PK time as well so his minutes might not diminish as much. On paper, he'd hate "4th line" but he might like it in practice as the 4th line should be more talented this season. I hope Raffl makes it. He's much better than Peluso and probably better than Thorburn.

U.S. Federal Election

@CBCAlerts: #HilaryClinton proposes tightening gun-control legislation, expanding use of presidential 'executive action' to mandate background checks. -
With #NHLJets sending Lipon to the #MBMoose, 25 remain. Roster must be set at 23 by tomorrow afternoon. Waivers have to be done today so we might see some movement. If the Jets cant trade Pardy or Harrisson (and I'd assume they'd prefer to trade Harrison), one will be waived and possibly lost for nothing. What did we give up for Harrison?? Edit: 6th round pick.

How could anybody have an opinion about the TPP when no details of the negotiations have been released? Anyway, I think the details of this agreement could be the tipping point of this election that breaks up the logjam. I would not only assume but expect the leaders to havean opinion, which ofcourse they do. Regardless, a good leader would have an answer. Trudeau might have a great answer, I was being facetious knowing he has been caught unable to answer direct questions in the past. I agree this will dominate the election for awhile. Some online play I've seen has sarcastically remarked that the opposition will accuse Harper of orchestrating this announcement. So I assume the feeling is this would be a positive for the Conservatives. Most of the media coverage has seemingly pointed out the positives. In any event, difficult for anyone to paint the Cons as unable to play with the big boys on the world stage now.

What a bonehead move by Trudeau to make a policy announcement at the same time the TPP gets signed. I realise he had this scheduled, but he should have pushed back. Knowing Trudeau, he would be asked about the TPP and have no reasonable response anyway. Apparently some news stations showing the JT announcement actually switched coverage in mid-sentence to the PM.

@CBCAlerts: #JustinTrudeau promises $750M increase to post-secondary student grants. More students would qualify, individual amount gets boost. #elxn42

This was funny: @charlesadler: Quebec #CBC host 2 #Mulcair "In Scrabble niqab is a word that's worth 14 points&that's about what you've lost in the polls over it" #elxn42

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Expect Nikolaj Ehlers and Nic Petan to be on WPG's 23-man roster. Jets trying to move surplus D (Pardy or Harrison) before waivers. @tommystwocents: @TSNBobMcKenzie Jets and Thomas Raffl are talking 2-way-deal acc. to Austrian newspaper. Is that true?
-
@TSNBobMcKenzie: LAK expected to put G J.F. Berube on waivers today (Quick/Enroth in net). The 24-yr-old could get claimed. More than one team with interest. @reporterchris: The #caps release Derek Roy from his PTO.

Globe & Mail A broad-cross section of Canadian businesses – from cattle ranchers and grain exporters to small-scale manufacturers – applauded Canada’s signing of the Trans Pacific Partnership, a monumental trade deal that will open up new export opportunities in a number of fast-growing markets along the Pacific Rim. The deal – signed Monday following negotiations that stretched over the weekend between 12 nations representing 40 per cent of global GDP – has the potential to dramatically reshape Canada’s trade landscape. It will gradually reduce steep tariffs on a number of Canadian exports to mature markets such as Japan and Australia, as well as emerging markets such as Malaysia and Vietnam, even as it opens up Canada to imports from those countries.

Given how corrupt the government is, they should have their own guns. That's the reason for the 2nd amendment. To defend against tyranny. And right now, they're borderline. No they're not. The 2nd amendment should have been altered decades ago. Its a shame it was included in the constitution to begin with.

"I keep a weapon in every room" That's hilarious. Maybe if I lived in Stony Mountain or something. I do have a blunt object near my bed as that's the most defenseless I'd be in my house. Even then, I only have it because I came into possession of it while working at a bar. I'd hate to be someone that is so fearful or paranoid they need a weapon in every room. To be fair though, I dont have kids. And Im not sure if that would make me more likely to hide weapons Dwight Schrute style or less likely.

This must be the polling Fraser was talking about. I hadnt seen til this morning The latest nightly tracking by Nanos Research for CTV News and the Globe and Mail shows the Liberals trending up, the NDP trending down, and the Conservatives holding steady. The numbers, which were released at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, suggest: The Liberals are at 35.3 per cent support nationally The Conservatives are at 31.0 per cent support nationally The NDP is at 24.3 per cent support nationally The Green Party is at 4.5 per cent support nationally **** What the heck happened to the NDP? What an implosion.
