Pressure on WWE now given Brocks second drug test failure. They don't seem to care thoigh as they "drafted" him tonight.
-
Brock failed a second UFC drug test taken the night of the show for the same substance as his previous failure. Same drug as Jones, estrogen blocker commonly used when cycling off steroids. incredibly stupid and disappointing.

They were fired years ago for stealing merchandise and selling it bootleg

Thats exactly what it is. Many of those guys have had relationships (including current I believe) with WWE. Sounds like guys opting to sign on in hopes of a payday. Its ridiculous. Claiming the company didnt protect you from concussions in the 70's and 80's using science known today and not then? idiotic. Part of the case is in regards to the Independent Contractor aspect. WWE does mis-use that status. Their wrestlers are employees in every sense of the word. The company controls their movement, actions, bookings, appearance, dress etc. WWE pays a comparatively very low percentage of revenue to talent (compared to major sports where its often around 50%). I cant recall off-hand what it is, but something like 12%. Which is not to say WWE doesnt pay its talent well. It does. But it also requires them to cover their own road expenses (hotel, rental car, food) unlike major sports. Wrestlers have tried to challenge the independent contractor status before and failed. It would take a big star and someone either currently or recently under contract to make a strong case. Linda McMahon took some heat during her election over it. Jesse Ventura tried to get the boys unionized in the 80's but Hogan ratted him out to Vince. Jesse also has said wrestlers should apply to SAG. WWE has been winning most of the developments in concussion lawsuits. And I hope they do here as well. A lot of these old guys sign Legends leads where they get money and royalties from WWE long after they are relevant and this is how they respond. Disgusting.

Speaking of... Netflix today announces that Executive Producers / Directors, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, are in production on new episodes of the Emmy-nominated MAKING A MURDERER. The new installments will take fans of the acclaimed documentary series back inside the story of convicted murderer Steven Avery, and his co-defendant, Brendan Dassey, as their respective investigative and legal teams challenge their convictions and the State fights to have the convictions and life sentences upheld. This next chapter will provide an in-depth look at the high-stakes post-conviction process, as well as, the emotional toll the process takes on all involved. The episodes will offer exclusive access to Avery’s new lawyer Kathleen Zellner and Dassey’s legal team, led by Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin, as well as intimate access to the families and characters close to the case - Latino Review

Woman with a gun to her head at Portage & Main this morning. Cops moved in and tackled her. Video on facebook but perhaps someone with more skills than me can post it. Looked like she laid down (or went down for some reason), police made decision to move in, she leaped back up, one cop continued his close, charging fast and taking her down with a Goldberg-esque spear. Hero cops. Nice to see. Woman appeared to be walking with police so presumed to not have shot herself (or been shot).

And then later exclusively on CraveTV, Bell Media’s streaming video-on-demand service do they mean the reruns will be exclusive to crave or the first run will eventually be exclusive. -
Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS in this trailer: I used the spoiler eye ball because the image used for youtube gives it away. Damn it.

Paramount officially announces Star Trek 4 is greenlit with Chris Hemsworth returning as George Kirk. Script to be written by Payne & McKay which is interesting because they wrote the discarded Trek 3 script with Orci. So Paramount must have liked their work but really wanted to be rid of Orci. This also means studio likes Beyond and seems determined to get a quicker jump on Trek 4, which is good.

The Unknown Poster replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Didnt leave the thread, just didnt want it to become just a two man argument between myself and ignorant insults. The topic of domestic violence, behavior of sports heroes etc is an interesting topic with many relevant facets. Shame for it to degenerate into name calling. If people dont want to discuss, dont discuss, its that simple. -
Brandon, you've pulled this nonsense before. First of all what hypocrisy? Secondly, feel free to go to the wrestling thread and expand on this silly remark. I'd love to debate it. For a guy who hates wrestling (or self loathing wrestling fan being more accurate) you seem to know a lot about my promoting history...so who have I brought in that is comparable to what Hull is alleged to have done? (Which is not to say I completely disagree, but if you want to try and attack me, be specific and relevant). Yeah I tend to agree. Its just hard to reconcile the cringe at Hull with his on-ice accomplishments. And we probably do see it on an "era" basis. Where Hull was before my time and I dont have an emotional connection, if Teemu turned out to be a piece of ****, as disappointed as I'd be it would be hard to forget his accomplishments. I think its just hard to have people confuse "what a great player" with "what a great guy" and we're going to get a lot of "what a great guy" stuff around this.

You live for it too. In fact, I made no opinion either way of whether Hull should be honored. I simply said both perspectives were relevant and it was deserving of discussion. I didnt attempt to shut down discussion on either side or call people names or act like beating women wasnt a deplorable act. Some people cant have a mature discussion, so be it. Hull's contributions on the ice dont change his off ice issues. So the idea that "you wouldnt have a team without him" is rather moot. Im sure most people would be okay with hiring a current wife beater if it meant bringing NHL hockey to the market. On the other hand, what is the line? Wife beater is ok. What if it was an OJ Simpson or Chris Benoit scenario? (Simpson, by the way, is still in the football HOF I believe and for what its worth Benoit was kept in a certain wrestling HOF by virtue of "winning" vote to remain in). And again, for what its worth, if it was me, I wouldnt do it. But I think there is relavance to honoring his stats and his player contributions without regarding him as a saint. And the problem is separating that. Because he will be treated like a saint when he's here for the ceremony and that IS somewhat cringe worthy. But again, its about the line of standard. Its a slippery slope either way. -
Would this solve the challenge issues?
The Unknown Poster replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What about clawing back the challengeable plays? And/or making only plays within the 20 yards of either end challengeable? -
Wow! He must have really impressed for them to burn a year of ELC. Have to think he goes to the Moose unless he really plateaus at camp. Great news!

The Star Trek Thread!

VERY unhappy to hear the plan is to move this to Crave exclusively. Not cool. Unless the series is "cant miss", people will wait for the season to be finished and watch it on Netflix or get Crave and binge it. Annoyed. Makes more sense to make licensing deals with established streaming services like Netflix. Cant see how all these various services will ever make enough to make it worth it. Its one thing for a steaming service to be a companion to a network station, like HBO GO, but to HAVE to get the service in order to see a program? Dont like it. In time, everything will be delivered Over The Top so I guess this is the wave of the future. But seems like an inconvenience to me. But presumeably Bell is paying CBS a lot of money. Rogers did the same with WWE Network where they paid so much for the rights, WWE couldnt say no. -
Yeah, I dont think its too huge a spoiler but definitely concerns the fate of a character. Is this damn trailer on line that they showed at Celebrations yet? The one with vader at the end??

Another review of Star Trek from a dedicated Trek site - mostly spoiler free, its a really positive review: http://trekcore.com/blog/2016/07/star-trek-beyond-embraces-treks-fifty-year-legacy/ Also, there is a new TV spot going around called "Be Ready" which contains a major spoiler. I caught part of a description before I turned away. Im usually a spoiler junky but this close, I might try to avoid it. its basically a revelation about the villain, so avoid it if you dont like spoilers. They dont reveal it in the link above though, so read the review. Its good!

The Star Trek Thread!
The Unknown Poster replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
Interesting development: Netflix and CBS Studios International today announced a landmark international licensing agreement for the new STAR TREK television series. Netflix will be the exclusive premiere home of STAR TREK in 188 countries (excluding the US and Canada). Each episode of the new series will be available globally within 24 hours of its U.S. premiere. Additionally, all 727 existing episodes of the iconic STAR TREK television library – including "Star Trek: The Original Series," "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: Enterprise" will be available on Netflix around the world by the end of 2016 - Latino Review Since this excludes Canada, one would assume this confirms they have a terrestrial channel provider to air the show here. What's interesting is that one of the things that pushed CBS to develop a new series was Netflix' interest in doing the same. Netflix liked the large interest in Star Trek on their platform and spoke with CBS about developing a new series. CBS, in turn, decided to do it themselves and pull their catalog from Netflix to move it exclusively to the CBS Streaming platform. So this is a partial reversal of that. -

Well you're clearing showing who the idiot is with a statement like that. If you don't care don't take part in the discussion. If all you can do is insult people you have nothing to say anyway.
