At some point Pence and the rest of the cabinet and party will have to decide if they want to go down with the SS Trump. To 25 Trump out of office is a big deal though and a gamble. Its never been done. They would have to be able to count on Congress' support as they have to provide a written explanation as to why they feel the President's mental health precludes him from acting in that position. And then the President can fight it. Its more likely whispers of a potential 25 are a precursor to a resignation. And they risk alienating Trumps base They'd have to have a really good, specific reason. The aforementioned "nuke" scenario being one that might finally make them act. More likely, Pence keeps up his balance beam act so that should impeachment hearings finally happen, the sense of Congress might be to get Trump out because they have a much better man waiting in the wings.

Thats why its better to get Toby to waive because he's probably not super desirable for Vegas. But Vegas isnt going to win this year so getting assets is important too. If they get ONE asset from Winnipeg and it's Lowry or Perrault, thats good. Not spectacular but pretty darn good. If the Jets make moves to protect more forwards and the end result is offering Vegas a deal to take Dano, Petan and a draft pick, that's potentially better than Myers if the intent is to not let Myers be exposed anyway.

Ask Vegas not to select him and instead let them have Dano (which might be why they signed him) plus something else (draft pick, Petan etc).

How do you know? Im saying if they went to him and indicated they would discuss a contract extension this summer and he said, no I intend to go to Free Agency and explore my options, then they could counter with, well, give us a list of teams and let us explore it now. I suspect he is happy here but I dont know that for sure. He might want the chance to go to a cup contender. he probably doesnt want to go to Vegas. My other suggestion was getting him to waive with the intention of making a deal with Vegas not to select him and then providing Toby with an extension. But they can do the same with Myers. Except Myers is worth more than Toby so whatever you have to give Vegas to back off will cost more for Myers than Toby.

Yes but thats what I mean by the fact that even if the arena isnt sold out, they will make money. That's my guess. But there is enough people in Vegas to make a go of it. They wont have the issue that Arizona did with a very bad location for the arena. The vegas arena is very close to the airport and ofcourse, essentially attached to the strip.

That could be true. But Fleury did specifically say one of the reasons he waived was because it was the right thing to do for the Pens. I want Toby to put the Jets first too. But he has zero obligation to do so. He was given a contract. He's abiding by that contract. If he waives, its a favour he's doing for the Jets. If he over-performed we would not expect the Jets to give him a raise mid-contract.
