So when do we start calling him "The Shermanator"...
-
My understanding it was Popp's move to fire Worman & not Higgins. I also understand that some of the players didn't like the way Worman treated them so they were happy when he got canned. Well, I think we can see why Worman was tough on them. Tough love to make them better football players. He was being a coach. Having a beer in a meeting shouldn't have resulted in a firing. A talking to, a fine & maybe some counselling but a firing?
Pretty sure I bring a beer into the wrong meeting (or even most meetings) and I wouldn't be shocked to be clearing out my desk soon thereafter

Bob Irving @BobIrvingCJOB
Gonna escape from the realities of this messed up world for a few hours at investors group field--see you there and join us on CJOB at 6 pm
Yeesh - sounds like Bobby is getting suicidal...if anyone sees him at IGF make sure and give him a hug...
I'm guessing the Malaysian plane getting shot down today isn't sitting well with him.

Can't say I've poured over other depth charts for other weeks, but 6 MLB? I know it's a lot of in and out all over, just odd to see them stacked at one position.
The defensive depth chart looks ******* insane every single week.... if we were losing it would be one of the things people would point out as something that makes us laughable.

The clock doesn't start running until he touches the ball so he may have actually been doing that to save all 28 seconds. It sure looked like he was giving himself up. And then changed his mind for whatever reason.
I expect that if a player is choosing to do that and knows he will ahead of time, he can/will tell the ref of his intentions prior to the kick.
Is it possible that he changed his mind because he expected a whistle calling the play dead, but it never came? And so failing to prompt a quick whistle, he decided he might as well try to advance the ball. O'Shea said he would have an answer on the 'knee-down' ruling today - hopefully some scribe asks about it and tells the rest of the world. AluCsRed - that's an interesting observation and question about BB waiting to touch Whitaker. But we've all seen many calls where officials whistle a dead ball even though the downed ball-carrier hasn't been touched.
That's what I figured happened... he put his knee down and kind of looked to the refs but then very quickly got up and started running.
I think he was expecting a whistle from the ref's right away and when it didn't happen was decided to move forward to go down more quickly.

Surprised by this move...
Will Edmonton pick him up ?
John White is a player - He impressed the **** out of me in the Ottawa game with his blocking. He wasn't running half bad either.

Alouettes 25 - Bombers 23
This is as frustrating as watching all of the un-subtitled Spanish scenes in Breaking Bad...
I'm unsure of Troy Smith but think he is able to put together some big games. Despite what people are saying about the Alouettes right now, they are always/still a good team and it will took a complete team effort from the Bombers to beat them. In particular, I hope Howard can handle the Al's rush but I am predicting a close match with the Alouettes coming out on top.

Is it just me, or is this the beginning of the end for Nick Lewis. He's got a lot of hard miles on him - and remember, players like him never fade away, they burn out and burn out quick (look at Roberts). He didn't do much in the game he did play (other than throw a hellacious block which - my bet - caused the concussion to begin with).
I don't think it's just you.... yes he's always been known as "Thick Nick" but this year he just looks plain fat and slow.... not sure he ever really got into "shape" after the injury... If you take into account their relative size, a guy like Dan Knapp is in significantly better shape than Nik Lewis
Dan Knapp looks real athletic for an OL...

K. That #1 hochstra? can we get him here too. Dude looks solid.
Might as well be his highlight video.
I was gonna say... that receiver had some speed and moves after the catch...

Really hope this was a league minimum fine at least...
-
-
Gotta say I don't particularly like this fine... It really looked like Willis made a conscious effort to turn his shoulder and lower it into Collaros when he was making the hit.

As an alternative, one can stream CJOB through the iPhone app if you can't pick up CJOB or one of their stations.
That's all well and good for people with unlimited data plans, but some of us live in provinces where they rape you for using data.
I mean... radio streams are 56-112 mb of data per game... even the crappy AB plans are enough to handle that a couple times per month

There are only about two teams in the entire league that couldn't make use of Peach at this point. It's got to be some bad voodoo that's keeping them from raiding Huff's cookie jar.
I think they know that Huff is too smart to get caught napping and just lose Peach for nothing. Huffer is probably weighing offers right now from several teams, and as the National OL go down to injury, Peach's value is only going to go up.
Because he has never put a valuable player on his PR and subsequently lost that player to another team.
Especially not a first round draft pick.

and Burke took over in Toronto. Oh would this board have fun then
Burke won't get a head coaching job in the CFL again for a long long time.
gregg Marshall will get one again first.
To be fair - Greg Marshall got screwed in SSK - screwd hard

I keep reading about the adjustments that Etch made, but no one is talking about which adjustments he made. Honest question here... what adjustments did you see?
In the first Q, we had crazy DL rush/blitz schemes and left the flats open for Walker to exploit or if we didn't stop him in the backfield, run for 10-15 yards... classic Etch.
After that didn't work, he retreated to a more CFL zone D. We sent four DL almost all game with the occasional safety or LB blitz. Seemed like Wild (for the most part) took a lot more of a 'contain' role than 'all or nothing' pressure.
I think he gambled hard on getting to Burris in the 1st Q, it didn't work and, thankfully, he recognized that. Later in the game, he started getting a bit Etch again but by that time, the D was rolling and Walker was off his game.
Just my opinion of course... haven't rewatched the game... not that I can thanks to TSN...
Honestly, the thing that stood out most to me is that it looked like he stopped allowing them to isolate Bucknor in man coverage situations and he stopped sending Wild after Burris all the time. You nailed it with your assessment, imo. I don't think I saw Leggett lining up in the box as much either, because by the time he was backpedaling into position early in the game, Burris already had the ball out of his hands and Leggett wasn't there in the secondary.
Definitely looked like Bucknor had a part in allowing a bunch of the yards on the first 3 td's
HOWEVER - it seems like when they switched their scheme to keep him from being isolated he played very well (his positioning with support over the top was very good)
-
Oh god Grigby's first touchdown run... his change from forward to sideways was pretty sweet
Seemed like Bucknor was getting picked on a little at the start
Wow... all three of Grigby's touchdown runs were really slick actually

I would think he needs to be here to force them to release him. He says I'm here ready to practice and then they either have to pay him to be on IR or release him. They can't suspend him because he's disgruntled. They can suspend him if he's sitting at home and not participating.
Exactly this - If he isn't here practicing they can keep his rights without paying him by suspending him.
If he is here and "ready to practice" they have to place him on the IR to have him on the roster

I love Thursday games in the summer & Saturday nights in the fall ...
too much to do Friday nights & daytime on weekends
Thursdays mean I can totally focus on the game without worry, obligation or compromise
Thursdays are great nights. Funny how the same people will willingly go to a Jets game at 8 pm on a Monday night but ***** about evening CFL games during the week.
I'd be totally good with any day of the week except Thursday... literally the only day of the week that sucks for me
-
Dissappointed that our Games are mostly Thursdays as I have Taekwondo practice those days. Will miss the first half! Hopefully we stick it to them and I get home in time to catch us winning the second half and handle Ottawa as we handled Toronto last week
Big reason I didn't get seasons this year was because there were so many Thursday home games...
Captain an Ultimate team on Thursdays.... can't skip when you're the captain

Tyler Thomas - Decided to bet against Hamilton this year

Anybody else wonder if Knapp eventually steals January's job?
Goossen looked good when he got in.
Too early.
I could actually see Howard taking January's job next season. Bombers are high on him and January isn't getting any younger.
He's only 31. He's got several good years left.
I find too many people here dump on January. You guys forget that the Oline needs to work as a UNIT - and with all the players coming and going the last few years here, with January being the only 'stable' lineman, he's an easy target to pick on. The guy is a multi time all star. Trust me - he's good. He had a solid game yesterday and you can bet that will only continue. Looks like we got a great pair of bookends with January and Knapp, and Neufeld in there with Greaves and Morley the centre, looks to me like our Oline is pretty solid - as solid as it's ever been in the past 10 years i would say. January never was the problem here, just the whipping boy.
Gotta say Walters is looking real smart on the Neufeld trade now

Bowman looked exceptional

To be fair - Bryant was ridiculously open for a TD and Willy underthrew him - I would even go so far as to say Bryant was also open on a second play that Willy underthrew and would have resulted in a TD.
Willy doesn't underthrow those balls and Bryant is something like 2 catches for 60 yards and 2 tds
