  1. No my friend, neither the 2010 or the 2012 teams were good enough to get to the Grey Cup with just better QB'ing and if you think that, then you have a lot to learn about football.

That 2011 team was damned good, they just lost to a better really good team in the cup.

I'm pretty sure the 2010 team was more than good enough to get to the Grey Cup with better QB'ing

we went 4-14 but lost 9 of our games by 3 points or less right? (10 by a single score or less)

A better QB could have easily won us half those games, maybe even 3/4 of them (9-9 or better).

That team with a solid QB would have been DANGEROUS in the playoffs.

  2. If you don't hear a DB's name all game doesn't that mean that they basically had a good game?

Other than the safety of course who should be getting involved.

I agree that Carter seems like a real potential diamond in the rough and somebody we shouldn't just release into the wild (I wouldn't be shocked if he got picked up by another CFL club who isn't as stacked at NI)

  3. these are the guys I wanna look out ....

Goltz... can he put an effective quarterbacking job in the firsh half ?

Penser... how good / bad protection can he put on QB's blindside ?

Etienne... can he put up a good performance tonight enough to be replace Poblah as a starter ?

D.Pierce... if this guy put up a good performance, would it be enough to replace Denmark as a starter ?

Markett... another good performance will surely make this guy a DI

Kennedy... Massey almost broke one to the house, can this guy make it ?

Marshall... he's lined up as a CB on the depth chart but I got a feeling we will see him in the Nickel

DE's... im particularly rooting for is Anderson but I'm okay whoever steps up

I didn't think Etienne and Poblah were even competing for similar receiving positions anymore.

Haven't they decided to move Poblah into the slot?

I expect their plan is to swap between having two Canadian slots + two American WR and 1 NI Slot, 1 IMP slot, 1 NI WR and 1 NI Imp

  4. FROM TSN -

But Toronto's Gerald Riggs had the first touchdown in the $200-million stadium, a 20-yard run at 1:49 of the second to make it 7-3.

    ---

16-17 minutes into the game our starting defensive guys were for the most part already out of the game right?

Sounds to me like our starting defense held up pretty well (especially considering we had turnovers in our own end) against T.O.s backups.

  5. Well as someone pointed out. Do the math. You warned people there is little or no parking on site apart from those with paid in advance privileges so prepare for the significant percentage that you have warned. How does that number translate to approximately 5,000? I believe the saying his hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I guess in way that's what they did... assuming that having a lot of transit riders was your hope, and they planned for the worst (which was very few people attending the game taking transit)

  6. To me that is the most frustrating part.  People bought into and followed the plan.  A few people going to the wrong spot wouldn't cause what happened yesterday.  Start over, new plan.

That's what has me annoyed...  You need to ensure that people continue to buy into alternative transit plans for this stadium location to work... it was incredibly shortsighted for them to not try to ensure they had excess capacity for the first pass.

I figure they'll get one more shot before people stop believing that transit is going to be a good way to get to games... they had better not screw up next game.

  7. What idiot decided that out of a potential 33,500 people only 5000 would use the bus?

No kidding right?  Assume 50% bus use on the first game... lose some money by having extra buses and count the number of people who used the buses.  Take the number who used buses in the first game, increase by 10-20% for the second game (JUST TO ENSURE A GOOD EXPERIENCE) and count the number who took buses again.

NOW try to be efficient with the number of buses you have out there

  8. 60% more people used the bus than anticipated...wow that's crazy, I hope I heard that wrong, that number is staggering

    .

    Nope you didn't

8500 people USED the buses and they expected 5000

We already know at least a couple hundred people wanted to use the buses and didn't when they said **** it and went home instead of going to the game.

So probably more than 60% underestimated the number of people who wanted to use the bus.

So **** stupid... if you wanted to make sure people were going to use transit make DAMN SURE that the bus experience was excellent on first pass...  I would have approached the first game by trying to make sure I had way too many buses for the number of fans I expected.  After you see how many actually show up for the buses adjust in coming games... but definitely don't try and save money by guessing on the first game

How many of those people who tried the bus and found it lacking are not going to give it another chance... probably a huge lost opportunity here

  9. Interest rate on the stadium debt load is 4.65%

2.3% is how much tickets prices will go up each year IIRC, the Jets do the same, some hogwash about keeping up with inflation.

Well the BoC does have a yearly 2% inflation target... other than the last couple years (as a result of the recession) they tend to be pretty good about hitting that target.

  10. DON'T PARTICULARILY LIKE THE NAME BEING IN ALLCAPS... IT ISN'T LIKE THEY NEED TO YELL IT AT EVERYONE

However the name itself "feels" rugby, since the Canadian game is essentially rooted in rugby like football (and still resembles rugby moreso than the other league style football) I kind of like the name.

Like it even more after reading the article... I think the ownership team got it right in choosing a riskier/less common kind of name.

The name has an unique identity - Something important for making a legacy (Fans can identify themselves as being redblack fans and whom they are cheering for is unequivocably obvious... a BC Lion fan has to add the BC part or be mistaken as a fan of another team)

  11. Oh, and I spent about 45 minutes in the upper deck, and didn't notice the military-grade wind machine the Bombers supposedly installed up there. Much ado about nothing, I am thinking.

I expect it requires a rather specific prevailing wind direction for the afore-mentioned wind machine to function properly... and probably requires the stadium to be fairly empty
