  1.

    It's all good.

It's looking like we'll be in section S about 10 rows back.  If anyone still needs tickets and wants great seats, calling the Eskimos ticket office is your best bet (better selection than Ticketmaster).  Same thing goes for Bomber games.

Also, huge shoutout to the Bomber ticket office for getting back to me (twice) when I asked if they had any spare seats from the Edmonton fan trip (which sounds like it was cancelled? bummer).

Fan trip was way too expensive. It was like $900 per person and being on the team charter you hardly get any time outside of the game (I think it was like three hours at the West Edmonton Mall). I'm renting a car and driving it and it's more than half the cost.

Agreed - I saw the cost and I'm not surprised it was cancelled. That's why I thought they might have seats available for the game only!  Haha.

  3. Sounds good.  If anybody can provide FREE tickets with transport and accommodation (meals non-vegan preferred) in Edmonton I would be very grateful.  I'm saving up my money for a new truck and a red hot poker.

Not sure where you got that I wanted free, or even discount tickets from.  More than willing to pay face value... just with all the printable tickets crap I'm nervous about getting them from scalpers. ETA - and would prefer to buy from people I at least somewhat knew.

  4. I think Willy is the real deal. Our oline did some good things and we played hard. Our d is getting better.

I was ushering the game, and some guy was giving me a hard time saying Willy couldn't throw... he promptly threw a touchdown.  Sadly that did not shut him up.

  5. Thought I'd put this here because it's relevant to IGF at least.

The Western Women's Canadian Football League (WWCFL) Championship game will be held in Winnipeg this year at Investor's Group Field on July 4th, 2015 @ 2pm.  There are two teams in Winnipeg (the Winnipeg Wolfpack and the Manitoba Fearless) but unfortunately they were both eliminated in the prairie semifinals this past weekend.  Entry won't be too much, maybe $5?

This weekend is the conference finals - in the Prairie Conference, Saskatoon Valkyries vs Regina Riot (Saskatoon are the three or four time defending champs but got beat pretty badly by Regina last game); and in the western conference the Calgary Rage vs Edmonton Storm (1-1 in the season series, but we lost badly to Edmonton last game, had a comeback game against Lethbridge).

Should be a good game, I encourage people to go out and watch seeing as it's in the Bomber's backyard.

  6. Through 7 episodes of OITNB and it only gets slightly better.  You can see the very conscious decision to be "funny" this season and its not working.  I think the only thing holding this season above "awful" status is the effort of the cast.  Very disappointing.

I also feel like the back stories are seriously lacking in depth this season.  In combination with the terrible (lack of) plot, I have to wonder if this will be the last season.

  7. Yep, Game of Thrones and True Detective are the best shows going these days. Not sure what the criticism of Emilia Clarke is all about, I think she plays the part perfectly.

It's not so much criticism, as everyone (around me, not on MBB specifically) loves her and I'm just tired of her blank stare all. The. Time. I don't get the love. It's just my personal opinion, man.

  8. I assume you guys are referring to baseball's Don Cherry when you say Greg Zaun?

Probably? I'll admit I had no idea who he was and got dragged by friends to the party in Toronto.  Supposedly he fell in love with the CFL and the party of the Grey Cup, so wanted to do a party every year.  I just know it was a good time, he seemed like a nice guy.  He is a Riders fan though...

  9. "sense 8" on netflix….. is outstanding.

Interesting.  The concept seems cool but haven't heard a peep about it.

Can't wait for True Detective.  Game of Thrones was pretty good this season; I thought it flowed well.  The actress who plays Danearys is pretty terrible though.  Hot, but not a great actress.

I had completely forgotten about Hannibal, but yeah, excited for the new season.

  10. I've got my GC tix, but the various events seem pricey. We shall see. Definitely want to get to TD Manitoba, and maybe the CFLPA Party...

Now, it's been a few (four...) years since I went to that, but the players were separated in the VIP area.  If you have access to that area, it's open bar and pretty awesome (from what I remember....).

I wonder if Gregg Zaun will be doing anything... I've missed the past two GC's but in Toronto he threw a pretty good (open bar, concerts, raffles etc) party.  My friend got cockblocked by Damon Allen at that party, it was a good'er.

  11.

The events I'd like to go to would cost me $500 just for myself. So ... pricey. But I understand why. That is 6 events, as well.

am seriously thinking of coming out this year, though there is no way I'm going to watch the game live unless man-made climate change works some miracles on the November weather. What are the events you guys are thinking of attending? I really want to get to Touchdown Manitoba this year.

I'm doing the same - driving out but not going to the game (I AM too poor).  Usually Spirit of Edmonton is a good (free, IIRC) time, along with TD Manitoba.

  12. I feel like the 'locker room sale' was over the holidays before Christmas sometime when I was in town. Pretty decent deals then, but not on anything but tshirt really. Quite a few cheap shoes for giant feet, and the now highly priced game worn jerseys (seriously, I remember getting my Muamba game worn from the Grey Cup for $100.. Since then none are under $200).
