Turning in to a sask based fan site here it seems, Not sure i like that too much. Way too many topics about SASK on here but regardless, Seems pretty obvious Durant is done for the year, regardless of what a rider fan or 2 thinks. Pretty obvious that the deal Sask made with Ottawa or proposed deal with Ottawa for Buriss is legit, I mean, it's been reported by more than just Madani. Doesn't make sense to even propose that trade if you think Durant will be back this season, Fact is.. He won't be and the only reason Chamblin and whoever else "believes he might be" is because they have seen that Rider team give up and fold the last 2 weeks without Durant so they are just trying to give their other players a reason for optimism, Don't give up guys, Darian will be back soon. But reality is, he won't be.

Pretty obvious watching SASK the last 2 weeks that based on the other players body language and all that stuff, they are done like dinner without durant and they know it.

Maybe if the coaches showed half as much faith in their backups as they do in durant "maybe returning this year", that maybe just maybe those backups could get the job done, it's not like Durant was lighting it up this year, he was just managing the game and basically letting the running game win games for them. Sask is last in the league in passing yards per game are they not? Without a passing game you can't win in this league consistently and that's just being proven now. Honestly, even if Durant wasn't hurt, i still think the riders would be struggling right now, Teams have caught on to them, take away the run and make them beat you with the pass and they can't do it.

This funk reminds me a lot of last season (hell we got smoked by the Bombers), remember when you guys wrote the Riders off after that? Sorry to inform you that Durant will be back before the end of the regular season.

"You guys"?  Just a general comment about Bomber fans?  Because... you weren't here.

I miss Bluto. If we have to have some other teams fans here, why can't it be Bluto?

I take back every mean thing I ever said about Bluto.

As for Durant, good luck with that, that's all I say.  What happened to all the Tino love posts?  You mean, a highly touted young QB is... struggling?  Say it ain't so.

Also for the love of god, if you're going to be here, and feel the incessant need to respond to every post, PLEASE LEARN MULTIQUOTE.

  2. Seems to me that the Bombers don't practice this scenario. if they did they'd have been ready for it. Willy couldn't hear? Fans were excited. Asking them or even EXPECTING them to shut up is unrealistic. This never should have happened. Inside the 5 for gosh sake's just call a run on the LOS. Have a signal system along with the play call in the helmet mic.

It was very very quiet in that stadium.

I was watching on television... I could hear crowd sounds.
And I was there and I'm telling you it was much quieter than any other play that game.

  4. Our defense actually did quite well aside from a few plays. Now was that because to they were good or because Hamilton isn't really that good?

Grigsby is fine when he gets a decent hole.

Oline had a few good plays (even if people refuse to see them) but that was it.

The thing that bugs me as I mentioned in the other thread - why did Willy not even try and give his receivers a chance at the ball on the last few plays? The ball was nowhere near them. And he had decent time for those throws.

All this stuff that will slowly improve but it still stings.

  5. I'll chime in here. There was one situation a few years ago in the NFL game. I was watching a Chargers Broncos game in Denver. Rivers had thrown an "interception" . TV replays showed the ball hit the turf. San Diego challenged the play however the replay system wasn't working. As per NFL rules the ref Waited the allotted 2 mins and since the system still wasn't working Denver retained possession of the ball.

Yes it happens in the NFL too. Its annoying but it is part of the game.

I'm pissed that it happened. I'm pissed that the officiating is a joke. But WHY THE HELL CANT OUR OFFENCE SCORE SOME BLOODY TOUCHDOWNS!!!!! that burns my @$$ more than anything. Theses losses would be Wins if we could start putting majors on the board!

This. Willy throwing it out the back of the end zone twice with three yards to go really grinds my gears.

Reports out of Minnesota that AP is not taking ownership of what he did & feels betrayed. And that he has played his last game as a Viking as they're going to trade him. Whoa.

Perfect. What he did is as bad or worse then what Rice did to his wife.

Worse.  The wife has every opportunity to pack her bags and walk away.  The child doesnt.  I also find it difficult to believe that Rice never raised his hand to his wife previously...

Just talking this over with the boyfriend yesterday.  The complete lack of action/emotion when she was knocked out was very, very disturbing.

  7. I'm not going to argue about spanking other than to say its lazy parenting. I'm old enough that spanking was the norm when I was a kid. It shouldn't be now. It's not effective and there are better ways to discipline a child. Having said that there is obviously a difference between sparking and assault.

ISO makes a great point about culture. The nfl needs to take responsibility for educating players. But make no mistake, regardless of upbringing an adult knows right from wrong. And AP knew he was wrong. He knew his sons mother would be angry. That tells you all you need to know.

I agree - but it is also different from the Ray Rice situation, imho.

My biggest issue, with the Ray Rice situation in particular - there are sleazeballs ALL OVER, not just professional athletes that do this to women, and men, every single day.  They get the same "punishment" he does.  The only difference is he, and his now wife, are losing millions of dollars from it.  The average Joe gets to keep his job, and often keeps beating his wife.

How the hell did this get about the Riders again?

    Trolls were fed.

Maybe we can give the Rider fan his own forum so he can post ad nauseam about the history of message boards, the politics of message boards and his own message board career in an echo chamber.  Seems to be what he/she wants.  Then the rest of us can talk football.

Seriously, I come here for Bomber talk (good or bad) and all I get is crap comparing them to the Riders.  I live with a Rider fan, I get enough of that at home thanks!

  9. At the beginning of the season we were doing a great job of spreading the ball around to different receivers and the route patterns looked like they were being run with good timing so that receivers were where they needed to be at the right times. It looked to me like the patterns were designed to compliment each other.

Now it looks like we're trying to force throws into places where the receiver's body control hasn't been maintained being pushed of his route in some way or where keys blocks haven't been established.

We are also very poor at execution is some packages. Our basic screen package is horrid and we often loose yards when tossing wide side to Grigsby or Denmark because the defenders break away quicker than we can block them.

Every time we try a screen pass and the blocks are so pathetic, I die a little inside.

The fine on Woldu is an embarrassment. The ref blocked him on the Willy touchdown run and he barely touched him. Hardly his fault that the official was standing there.

Glen Johnson's reign of error continues.

Woldu deserved the fine. The official was positioned correctly and Woldu could have avoided him.

Please.  That is the very definition of a stretch.  It wasn't like he steam-rolled the ref.  He basically brushed into him.

Haha actually maybe you should watch the replay again... I don't think he deserved a fine, but he absolutely steam-rolled the ref...

I was ok with Morley getting ejected in that game... I don't actually know what happened but he's not the kind of guy to just lose it for no reason... I assume he was sticking up for a teammate, which I'm ok with... the o-linemen gotta be the enforcers...

Who came in at center once he left?  I was too drunk to tell at that point.

  11. The first game or two he wasn't tentative, then for some reason he started playing like a wuss, now because we have all called him out he is stepping his game up again.

See, I thought the first games he looked great - because teams hadn't caught onto the fact he would stutter step (sometimes backwards).  As soon as they "figured" that out, as soon as he'd hesitate/cut, he'd get tackled.  He's improved quite a bit in the last few games, imo.

  12. I will admit, seeing him hesitate and get tackled over and over again at the LOS was frustrating, but he seems to have really improved; and when he DOES get a hole (not often) he sees the field quite well and is very fast.  He has a couple of plays a game where you nod and say "oh, ok, you're ok in my books."  But JBR is right, he doesn't seem to dig in and drag some guys 4 yards after initial contact.

... Grigsby in Calgary's offence would be incredible.  That oline.. .dang.

Cotton -could- do well with more consistent play, but he is not light years ahead of Grigsby from what he has shown.  Putting him on the PR is not the end of the world - for the Bombers or Cotton.
