  1. How? It was reported through this entire process the Winnipeg offer was the best on the table. What do you want him to do? Hold a gun to Burris? If a player doesn't want to play here, then they go elsewhere. If he doesn't want to be here, we shouldn't want him here either.
  2. It's February. People need to stop getting their panties in a knot, sit their ass down and just watch it all play out. We have no slightest idea what the final product will be. People need to relax. And at least that year we signed Steven Jyles (the most coveted FA QB at the time), AND an experienced QB in Buck Pierce. Everyone was super optimistic and excited too and at the end of the day it resulted in a four win season. It's just too much of an unknown at this point how things will pan out.

People need to relax. Maybe you and Noeller don't. But I know we're going to suck major ass again this year. Of course we're going to suck, we were 3-15 last year and have more holes than Portage Avenue in April. The point is, is that there are still lots of time to add pieces to the puzzle to start to get the ship turned around. This was never going to be a one year process. People need to realize that.

  5. How was Hamilton the better choice for Collaros ? How wasn't Hamilton a better choice? Minus the offensive line the Ti-Cats have every advantage on us on offence, including their coach. Hamilton is ready to win now, we are not. Hamilton also offered the stronger contract.
  6. I think MSW's career is over... The trouble is we likely will still have to field three import and two NI receivers... so its Akeem Foster-Denmark-Watson-Edwards-Kelly... Sorry, that is just an 'okay' lineup. So given it's just an okay line up (which I don't entirely disagree with) that means a deserving and dynamic rookie won't crack the line up? No one knew who Chris Matthews was before he got here. It's one thing to find one solid receiver, it's quite another to find five. Not saying they are going to field five rooks of course but that's still five spots that need to be filled. I like our chances MUCH better of having a better group of receivers than Ottawa does.
  7. Because free agency was slated to start on a Saturday when league offices are closed and most media outlets are running reduced schedules.
  8. They have an OC and a QB coach in place... plus Travis Moore is Rec coach - Burris played with him. Crandell is their QB coach, same age as Burris - probably know each other... RedBlacks will get a lot of attention - clean slate, will go down in history as their first starter, etc... - lots of media attention. Winnipeg has run QBs out of town every season for five years now. Would you rather take snaps from Marwan Hage - a guy you've worked with for two years - or Justin Sorenson - a guy who shouldn't be in the league? Would you rather be protected by Deane and Eppele or Greaves and Morely... Man, this is getting depressing. And who exactly is Henry throwing to in Ottawa? Who is he throwing to here?! Terence Edwards, Clarence Denmark, Sims Walker, Aaron Kelly, Cory Watson. Point his, he at least knows who his targets would be here. He has zero idea who he'd be throwing to there.

  10. I don't see why it would. His agent said a decision would come early in the week, and cell phones and text messages, etc are wonderful things. Hahah. I know but most assume the Bombers would want him here in person for an official announcement. Sure but putting pen to paper is priority #1. Nothing wrong with introducing him to the media at a later date. We all know who Henry is and what he's about. "I'm so happy to be here, thankful for the opportunity, looking forward to working with Coach so and so and so on and so forth."

  12. At some point, Walters has to get the job done. We gave Mack two years of blaming Kelly... look where that got us. Overpaying a 39 year old QB is not getting the job done either. Except we didn't sign Collaros and said we were targeting Burris... he hasn't signed Muamba... lost Kohlert... hasn't announced coaching complete coaching staff... you could say he has overpaid in trades... at the very least, our trades have been non-impact - unless Neufeld comes though... I'm still on his side, but things are starting to pile up. Free agency should give us a pretty good idea whether Walters is in over his head... Well first we never really seriously went hard after Collaros - There's a reason for that. The team doesn't think as high of him as others do, as evidenced by their offer. He's also a boat load of money to Henoc as Lawless (despite what anyone thinks of him) has pointed out time and again but if he wants to try the NFL or see what what value is on the open market, you can't fault him for that and hold a gun to Henoc's head and make him sign. Overpaying in trades...I'm assuming you're referring to the Hall/Neufeld deal because all the other ones have either been good, or too early to tell if it's a bad trade or not - and really you can make that argument that it's to early to tell there given Neufeld hasn't even suited up for a game with us. Walters replaced Hall with Vega, and frankly just about any time you ship off an import for a starting non import, chances are you've made off alright. Kohlert was left unprotected because he was a pending free agent. His chances are every bit as good as playing here as it is Ottawa or anywhere else, so to say we've lost him at this point is very premature. As for the coaching staff, that's O'Shea's job, not Walters.

  14. Not sure how reputable Rod Pedersen is, but in a post today on his website he said to expect Burris to sign with Ottawa. http://www.rodpedersen.com/ - Towards the bottom of the post.
  15. The source went back to someone on the "Welcome to Swaggerville" group on Facebook. Seems like a bunch of rumour mongering on their part.
  16. Arash Madani ‏@ArashMadani 5m BREAKING: The #CFL and the players association agree to start free agent period earlier in 2014. Free agency now begins at noon on Feb 11.
  17. Contracts aren't guaranteed in the CFL, correct? If that's the case why not give him the three years, and if we so desire cut him after two or less if we should so desire.
  18. Unable to do so as he is still property of the Riders.
  19. Great post. That being said I still believe paying a soon to be 39 year old wildly inconsistent quarterback is extremely short sighted even if it doesn't handcuff us financially. I just don't see the point in investing money in a QB that by the time he is ready to ride off into retirement, the team will be in a position to compete for a championship. I think it also delays the development of whoever will be #2 on the depth chart for the season whether that be Willy or someone else.
  20. Bombers offer for Burris is two years and "well over" $300,000. Wow.... http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/First-Take-Bombers-cant-chase-signing-Burris--243333831.html
  21. Cheers. Thanks for proving my point.
  22. Just like it's a lock that we're getting Burris for a discounted rate as you put it, even though he is looking for a raise compared to his last contract in Hamilton, right? Who is going to pay him more then what he made in Hamilton last season? If he is wanting $300 000 as you suggested.... how will those other teams be able to pay him when they already have QB(s) making starter salary?? Depends what their cap situations are and if they choose to ask someone to rework their contract or cut them free. As I said yesterday (and confirmed in the Free Press today if you have a look where it says right in the headline) Burris is not coming here cheap if he even comes here at all. Whatever bids he has on the table will only continue to increase until us and the three other teams interested (Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa as reported a number of times) submit their final offers. Burris is in the position of power here. When you have 4 of the 9 teams in the league bidding for your services, it puts the player in a great position to make a lot of money. It's not science.
  23. Mr Perfect believes that Edmonton may go for Burris based on them having a new coach? I don't believe this is true at all , but if it were to be true my thoughts would be that Reilly would then become expendable and we could swing a deal for him since the odds of Edmonton wanting to pay $300 000 for 2 QBs would be extremely low. I would LOVE it if you could show me where I said Edmonton's reason for pursuing Burris was because they have a new coach. What I did say was, and has been noted in print as to why Edmonton is also pursuing Burris is because there are people within the Eskimos organization who apparently are not sold on Reilly. Who those people are exactly we can speculate on all day, but I never once mentioned Chris Jones being the reason why Edmonton is talking to Burris. So what happens to Reilly if Edmonton is not in favor of keeping him. What other teams would be willing to trade or sign him at his starter salary dollars? Quick make a list of teams looking for a starter! What other teams were interested in that guy last year when he was a FA... HMMMMMM We'd be interested in Reilly sure if Edmonton wanted to cut ties, but what at all does your last statement have to do with me asking you to prove where I said Chris Jones was the reason behind Edmonton going after Burris? You REALLY need to stop making garbage up and pulling statements like that out of your rear end.
