  1. I figured that was going to be the talking point....and it's not necessarily WRONG, but it's too early to tell just yet. And there's still lots of young-ish guys yet to sign, that I believe will, it's just that the first ones off the board have been the old-and-possibly-too-old players...
  2. Barring injury (taps forehead to knock on wood) I think we are going to have a lights out secondary next year.....like shades of 2021. The potential for it is there.
  3. We need to crop this thread for the diaper gang over to Gen Pop..... Jayyyyzuuussss.....
  4. I feel bad for Kane and Toews... That team is embarrassing.
  5. Chicago is just so bad...
  6. I'm pretty sure Doug Brown does medical sales right now, and Walby *DID* at one point either do medical supply or pharmaceutical sales....
  7. Building toward 2026 at home...hopefully can at least win a game in that one. Can't help but feel this "Rah Rah Canada World Cup" was so much like the Blue Jays playoffs, or the Leafs playoffs...... anything the major national media hype up so much ends up with sad trombone. Definitely less expectation with this one, though.
  8. Demski is the one guy they might have to really open the pocket book for....
  9. As Matty says, yes, the reason ZC8 got a big 3 year re up and all these other guys are signing quick... It's because we had a **** ton of '22 cap money to use. Stuff that was likely stashed for the NFL guys, plus unused money due to 6-game guys...
  10. despite all evidence to the contrary..... Yes.....and also a number of players 6-gamed...
  11. Long time Winnipeg FreeP/Sun editor Buzz Currie passed at 74....
  12. as I learned this past weekend, I'm not sure how I will handle things if we're not just expected to win every game of the season as long as our starters are in the game...... I mean, I'm sure there'll come a day, but I'm clearly not ready for that yet. I want 20-0 every year with 50-0 blowouts in every game. I will stand for nothing less!
  13. this is a hot, borderline insane, take. Dru Brown looked great vs BC at the end of the year. He had a couple of young-guy picks, but he can manage the offense. Matthew Schiltz is awful. There is no upside with a guy like that. Prukop is the question mark for next year, not Brown.
  14. Nope. What we were told was that vaccines (in combination with other measures such as masks and distancing) would HELP REDUCE TRANSMISSION and would HELP REDUCE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES (ie Death, being very very sick) which is exactly what they did. Listen, I'm a big fan of listening to people who are really smart....went to school for a decade and study these things their entire professional lives...... why would we not listen to them? My barber said to me "what would you like done?" and I said "You're the professional... I wouldn't tell my mechanic how to fix my truck and I'm not gonna tell you how to do your job. Just clean me up so I'm presentable". All I'm saying is: Listen to the professionals...the experts. When 99% of experts/professionals agree on something, they're probably right.
  15. the fact that we had a ******* FG (!!) blocked gives me all sorts of flashbacks to 2001 and Bob Cameron, who almost NEVER had punts blocked, of course has one blocked and ends up a TD. One of the most sickening football plays of my life....and we see a similar thing happen again last Sunday. Sigh. Just ******* disgusting.
  16. People who aren't smart enough to see the forest for the trees, complain about the obvious thing "Well, we didn't make that last kick, so we need a new kicker..." and they don't look at the plethora of things that went wrong in that game, including the offense having a relative pants-shitting. They also don't look at the massive leap Liegghio took from last year to this year, and think about the similar leap he could take from this year to next. It's not like P/Ks grow on trees...... we have a near-95% CIS kicker who has a MASSIVE ceiling, if we let him grow into it. He's not the reason we lost that game. I'd hate to see him go be an all-star for another team next year....
  17. From Our Man Tait's wonderful piece: https://www.bluebombers.com/2022/11/24/theyve-built-something-very-cool-here/?fbclid=IwAR1JZnJaYqHVswja5--ToFgMi-f0nvgXySqpOdQ8-V8365vxA9gQETLBtZg O’Shea was also quizzed about his interest in potentially taking on more management duties – like Wally Buono, Cal Murphy and others before him – but wouldn’t even entertain that thought. “I’ve never been in a position and been thinking about another position,” he said. “You’ve heard me say it 100 times if I’ve said it once: as a player I never thought about being a coach. I never critiqued coaches; I never did anything like that. I was, ‘You’re the coach. You tell me what to do. I do it.’ “I have my role and I solely focus on my role. I really do. And I don’t even entertain ideas of other roles because that’s not where I’m at right now. I try to stay as present as possible. To me, that makes it pretty easy.”
  18. I agree in theory and have a lot of thoughts about this. When I get to a keyboard (not just my phone) I'm going to type them out properly. It's the offense, mostly, that has me troubled come playoff time.
  19. I can't stop laughing about this interview...
  20. some interesting tidbits in here, including the possible loss of Marty Costello and Lapo staying with TSN in '23.........
  21. If O'Shea stays, the core stays....it's that simple. All this loss did was piss them off. 20-0 next year....let's go.
