Bombers release Chris Matthews
Michel more of a YAC guy. Not sure he'd be a great fit for our offense as the ball doesn't move out quick, we don't screen a lot to the receivers. We should be getting the same kind of play from Whitehead. We need more of the big body slot who plays like a big body slot, we've been trying to fill that spot with softies like Bowman and Matthews the last couple years. Could also put Wolitarsky there.

I don't believe they stay in the same place every year. When I was making the trip regularly we'd some times end up in the same hotel as them in Regina.

I think Petermann is going to have a big role in this game as a true slot'back'

Yeah but how would that benefit the Bombers? That means they have to sit another import.

It's so they can't dress another player as 3rd QB and use him elsewhere. Makes a lot of sense. Otherwise the Bombers could dress McCallister, play him at DE and insist he's the 3rd QB.

Williams takes Harris' spot, Adams for Matthews. Need 21 NI's on roster. Crazy to me they don't dress the 3rd QB. What's the harm? If they lose both QB's at least they have someone to put out there.

That is an extremely thin offense. They have Grant too as a receiver, but they are basically a couple injuries away from having some very interesting decisions in terms of who does what. Could even see some guys from D go both ways.

2019 CFL Season: Around the League
How does the owning of Williams-Lambert’s rights work? He has to take whatever Riders offer or they have a window to negotiate? He doesn’t have a contract because he was released.

Yeah USF has a former 5 star recruit of Alabama’s at QB and tons of talent all over the field. Pretty much all the Florida schools are stacked...they got their asses kicked.

Bombers release Chris Matthews
Beasts don't drop 40% of their targets. Haven't seen Matthews be a beast since the Super Bowl. Wouldn't even say he was a beast in his first run here, he's 6'5 235 so that gets him a lot of run. His routes and his hands are inconsistent and always have been. He doesn't do YAC and he doesn't do much to win contested balls, he hasn't evolved. Montreal is a good fit because if he gets on the roster he'll be the 3rd or 4th target at best.

Keeping our DL intact from last week and adding Roh would tempt the hell out of me. Would mean our backup DB's would all be NI's....but to me pass rush is way more effective than coverage. We could run 7 DL and keep them all fresh over 4 quarters.

Bombers release Chris Matthews
$107,000 with no signing bonus as confirmed by Jeff Hamilton. So slightly above average CFL salary (average around $90,000).

Bombers release Chris Matthews
No significant signing bonus, 3 year contract means nothing as contracts aren't guaranteed. No truck full of money for Matthews. Team is 8-2. What accountability do you want?

Bombers release Chris Matthews
Nichols, Harris, Bighill, Bryant, Jefferson, Nevis was a fairly high NFL pick.

Neither is Matthews.

Matthews cap hit wasn’t this issue. His attitude and production was. He got zero offers in free agency. Zero! I’d be mildly surprised to see him picked up quickly, more likely when PR’s expand if he still wants to play.

Dondre Wright in for John Rush Santiago in for Kyle Jones

Interesting in hindsight since the Bombers knew about this for at least 3 games that they did not get Santiago onto the roster. I mean last week we had a DI LB who as far as I recall didn't play a snap on D, there was a reasonable opportunity to get Santiago on. Makes me think they'll give Augustine the first crack at the job.

No. Basically you have one import on O or D who isn't a starter or a DI. He can sub in for anyone. So say Augustine "starts" and Santiago is on the roster but not a DI. Santiago can sub for Augustine or anyone else with no restriction, import or NI. Essentially teams declare their QB's and DI's.

Andrew Harris suspended for 2 games
Need a minor swap of backups. Santiago can either be DI or counted as "starter" with no restrictions on his subbing in.
-

Don't even have to do that.

Won't have to mess up ratio. We had backup LB and DB last week as DI's. Can easily put Santiago on for one of them and pop on Dondre Wright for John Rush to chase kicks and backup secondary/WIL/SAM.

Montreal still does not have owners. Expedited what? Nova Scotia is growing at a rate lower than the rest of Canada. This growth is largely based on immigration and the rate they are able to keep immigrants lags behind the rest of Canada too. People tend to spend a couple years and then leave for the GTA or Alberta. There's not a lot of opportunity. Their second biggest municipality is on the verge of bankruptcy and asking the provincial government for a bailout, which they are refusing. The HRM is not far behind. They've done a pretty good job of growing their tourism industry but there's not much else going on there. I have some ties in Cape Breton. Great place but extremely economically depressed, and Halifax not much better.

Augustine can take some carries. We'll see if he's figured out pass protection and how to run a few routes. I think Demski needs to step up big time and will take some time in the backfield too. Santiago likely comes on for a DI DB/LB and Dondre Wright comes on for Rush to provide depth on D.

Calgary replaced Flutie in 95 when he wrecked his elbow with Jeff Garcia who was arguably better haha.
