  1. All the snowbirds I know around Phoenix would rather donate a kidney than drive to Tempe to sit outside in 60 degree weather.
  2. Everyone has a lot of money to spend. Most teams are going into free agency with about half of a roster. Ottawa and Winnipeg have far few roster spots open with far more starters returning. BC is on the extreme opposite end. It also isn't a hard cap so everyone has almost endless opportunity to maneuver .
  3. I think we need more of a slot type. Posey and Adams would be redundant.
  4. More than half of BC's roster are free agents. They have a lot to spend.
  5. Only if the Bombers went against the league directive on off-season bonuses before the CBA is settled.
  6. Truly terrible. They might want to force teams to blitz now since their QBs can’t hit any windows in coverage. In the highlights all the passing plays they showed were tremendous catches by the receivers.
  7. Based on what? I don’t think you’ll see more than an insignificant increase, like 2-3% at most.
  8. It might but have to factor in that signing one of those guys means you essentially have to play rookies in 4 other spots on your roster since they will make about $300,000 more than Nichols. If Calgary drops out of BLM sweepstakes you know it’s not worth it.
  9. What kind of psychedelics did they put in their tea to come up with this ****? 28 yard line? Are they sure it should be 10 yards for a first down? Maybe it should be 7.33.
  10. There's actually a decent group of value LB's with some CFL experience. Maleki Harris is a guy to watch.
  11. Good God how are they going to officiate this? Why can't they just play football? Wait until there's 40 penalties in a game and half of them are for illegal defensive formations.
  12. I think Randle’s money (or at least the difference in paying him and a younger DB) is switching sides, from D to O. Can’t defend the pass anyway with the PI rules, why spend on it?
  13. That’s exactly right and speaks to how this team has been managed. There’s a very high likelihood that we will be dressing 6 OL who won’t be strangers, even if they haven’t been starters yet.
  14. I think it's quite likely that only one of Neufeld, Goossen or Chungh is on our team next year. Demski might be back but only with a pay cut. Bombers are going to go hard after import receivers. They have a lot of draft picks too to backfill depth.
  15. 2020 and 2021 1st round picks, 2022 3rd round pick that becomes 1st round if Lapo wins a Grey Cup with the Riders in 19, 20 or 21. That would be my offer. The only reason I care about Lapo heading elsewhere at this juncture is he knows all the secrets that would be useful to another team in free agency, draft etc.
  16. Likely protection from the Riders pursuing termination and clawing back money/benefits/bonuses he was already paid in the case he resigned and then took a coaching job outside the CFL.
  17. The Riders couldn't have held Jones back if they wanted to. Jones could resign and take a job anywhere else in the world. The only reason CFL teams can restrict movement of personnel within their league are the league by-laws. As far as I know the CFL and NFL have no agreement in regards to respecting clauses in coaching or management contracts. They do have agreement in regards to player contracts.
  18. RP got canned. His timeline basically indicates this. Also leaving Pats in mid-season.
  19. Derek Dennis is such a loser. How does he call someone out for "talk like men face to face" when all he does is tweet?
  20. Do Mexican coaches count against the football operations cap?
  21. The Bombers and other teams will not let the Riders near their coaches at this point in the off-season. So much of the planning for 2019 is already on the go. The Riders will have to draw from unemployed coaches, and there aren't that many at this time of year. They literally have no one to choose from to fill their staff. Will likely have to promote someone to HC. Can't see any of the big free agent QB's risking their career on that situation.
  22. If they want to go. There's a really good semi-pro league in Ontario that draws a lot of guys from all over Canada but especially the GTA, and the CFL grabs players out of there fairly regularly. Who is going to pay talented coaches to run the Mexican league and develop our players? The NFL had and has money to burn. They also largely backed out of Europe because it was a money pit to run NFLE. The only country that supported it was Germany. The CFL is one Braley or Wetenhall dying from having to pay the bills for a team.
  23. The comparison was Yao Ming and the NBA with China. Yao Ming was a celebrity before he was drafted by the NBA and was also a good enough player to be the #1 overall pick among all basketball players in his draft year. Apples and oranges. Maybe they should have a draft of famous soccer players and see if any of them will try to make a CFL team as a kicker. That’s more likely to get the sideshow attention.
  24. Perception is very important and eventually costs dollars. Here’s another aspect. The league just forced teams to cap their spending on football operations. There is no CBA. It’s a league with limited resources, yet the commissioner and some of the scarce league office staff have time to grab ass with Mexican football and now German football? Actual attendance at games in BC, Toronto and Montreal isn’t even hitting 5 digits. Look at the officiating, which is another area that needs resources. If it’s minus 30 and you don’t have a front door you don’t start drywalling the basement...you get a door and hang it! If you were a conspiracy theorist you might think the league is actually looking for a source replacement players to hang over the CBA talks. That actually makes way more sense than thinking there’s any revenue to gain from Mexican television.
  25. I’m considering taking a sick day to watch the Mexican Draft. Riveting.
