  1. Although American players had been recruited by teams before, Winnipeg was the first to import a large contingent. These hirings were controversial and eventually led to present-day rules governing player imports. As a result of their bold manoeuvre, the ‘Pegs became the first western team to win the Grey Cup. The 1935 championship game was played in Hamilton against the Hamilton Tigers, with the ‘Pegs victorious 18–12. Fritz Hanson was the star of the game, especially on kick returns, setting a record with 300 punt-return yards. Quarterback Russ Rebholz also threw two touchdown passes. The 1935 Grey Cup game was also the first to be broadcast nationally on radio. https://thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/winnipeg-blue-bombers
  2. When I'm in Hawaii I wear my Bomber gear and get high fives from Huskies fans all the time.
  3. Joe Thornton is still playing? Who knew?
  4. Is the Streveler Lit T-Shirt a thing? Or was that just a joke?
  5. my desktop is a picture of me and Andrew Harris that was taken this summer at St.Vital Earls. It was actually taken right before the whole drug thing broke (I know, it was me, I spiked his drink! Ha suck on that Steve Simmons). But looking at those pictures I may want to switch it out, those are awesome (though if I put up the picture of Willie and Strevs I may get some questions)...
  6. That reminds me, I haven't watched that show "Oz" in awhile...
  7. Right now all Keith is thinking is "I gave up cocaine for this"?
  8. yup I was thinking the same thing - keep Zach on the sidelines all year in TO until we need him in October. Rinse, two-peat.
  9. I want a picture of Keith Urban doing that deer in the headlights look after Suits tried to get him to call a play. Just so cringey!
  10. I'd say that there may be other reasons for why #17 is in high demand...like his on-field play...but...ahem...sure
  11. why are we drafting 9th this year...that spot is reserved for the team that wins the....oh right...
  12. when have we ever had success with Winnipeg-born players - Paul Friesen
  13. as long as he doesn't come back having gained 100 lbs and totally roided up - need speed, not bulk.
  14. yes at least we got a year out of him, which is more than I can say for a lot of our other draft picks, like that Mulumba guy that Mack drafted a few years ago that never played a down in the NFL, but hung on to practice rosters for years.
  15. It would be especially sweet for the Bombers to Two-peat in their toilet bowl stadium next year.
  16. yes, at the time we all thought it was going to be the last Grey Cup ever as we were only one month away from the world being destroyed by Y2K...who knew it was just a hoax.
  17. Already reported....sorry...didn't see the prior thread page...my bad.
  18. Yes, I was at that game in 1999 in Vancouver. The last time the Ticats won the Cup. Man that's a long drought...(begins to whistle softly)...

  20. Let's see what Kyle finds in the draft this year....hopefully there's a young Jake Thomas out there in the CIS just waiting to be drafted....
  21. Maybe Chevy does know what he's doing? Also, I expected the loss of Bryan Little to be felt a lot more than it has.
  22. And the same knock was on Justin Goltz, Joe "747" Adams, etc.
  23. Yes that could be too. One thing I do know, it wasn't Rod Black.
  24. Right, thanks for that Johnzo! Ken Hobart I don't really remember that well, probably because I didn't care much about the Ti-Cats and not all games were televised back in those days. (Weird eh?) Was it Suits that kept comparing Streveler to Ken Hobart this year? Or was it Duane Ford?
