Tuesday at Jonesy's Monterey Chicken and Chicken Parm.
-
Had our first dinner out since March 13th last night. Had to be Jonesy’s in Birdshill. Was a great dinner and very good experience. (one of these days I’ll figure out how to post pics on this forum. )

Sorry I missed this earlier. I bought a Weber Performer Deluxe charcoal grill from Luxe about a month ago. Have been using it 3 to 4 times a week. Best burgers and steaks I’ve ever made. Not to mention the crispy wings. The performer has a propane ignition for the coals. Gets you cooking real fast. I say do it. If you don’t want to spend that much I’d at least get a Master Touch model has some nice accessories included and comes in blue...

Do you have a source for this? In Manitoba it has been confirmed that not a single case has been in a first nations community.

I look at it this way. There is more to Public Health than just Covd-19. People being injured or killed due to violent protests are just as critical to public health and should be tried to be prevented as much as the spread of Covisd-19 is. The cause is important and could likely be viewed in itself as trying to reduce another public health crisis that has been ongoing for decades/ centuries. Preventing racially motivated death needs to be considered as if not more important than the spread of disease. Need to balance the scale, the threat of a group spreading the virus that is rarely fatal in their demographic vs violent protest causing injury/death and destruction. CFL fans aren't likely to riot and cause injury/death and destruction if games aren't played.

I believe the agreement reached with some negotiating units was reported as 5 unpaid days off this fiscal year.

Follow up on the school opening discussion last week. Took a little longer to hear from my friend in Norway (his mother passed ((non-covid)) 2 weeks ago and he'e been dealing with her estate. His comment: There has been a few corona cases at the schools, but less then I thought it would be, we've opened up almost all schools nowadays He is quite concerned about a second wave and he believes that there will not be as such strict adherence to the guideline a second time through.

The best thing you could do for yourself is to get a panzerotti from Pasquale’s.
-
This sounds much like the plan Norway implemented with elementary schools there a few weeks back. I haven't asked my friend there lately but the global stats would indicate that it has been successful with no surge in infection rates there.

A saw a Dickie Dee the other day, I swear the “kid” riding it was Dancing Gabe.

I may have missed if this is mentioned elsewhere but the Chicken Chef on Nairn has a dedicated Keto menu with some very delicious options. (I'm not Keto but Celiac and some of the foods cross over).

Jonesy’s is damn good eats. They are doing curb side take out, love the Monterey chicken. Nice wood smoke flavour.

A little story from summer of 2016, we have a store in MN and I was visiting the staff there in July 2016 while the Democratic Convention was on. We have staff from both sides of the isle and they were constantly at each other about this or that. In an effort to smooth things down and get everyone more focused on work we had a discussion about the pros and cons of each. In the end the consensus was this. If Clinton and Trump were the best people that could be convinced to lead those parties the USA was fugged. Reasonable people in the USA knew that this period was going to be hard on the nation, they were just at a loss as to what to do about it. They knew then that by 2020 the nation would be a very divided and acrimonious place.

Being able to increase testing was a crucial element to allowing the start of phase 1. The total number of cases isn’t the greatest concern, the number that require medical intervention and hospitalization are the ones we need to worry about. There is a 50km buffer zone in the order. How far is Kenora from the border? Yes, but don’t be stupid and risk the lives of the most vulnerable. I wouldn’t suggest bringing the great grand daughter to celebrate fragile granny’s 90th birthday. Let’s be serious, Manitoba has done an incredible job in the last 6 weeks. We deserve phase 1 now and if we are smart and practical as we normally are by mid May that group size will be 25 and you will be able to go swimming at the beach. There is only one thing I desire right now, trade 30 Post Media jobs for one Bartley Kives. I have really grown to despise that man and his style. I once faithfully read his music and concert reviews but now can’t stand to hear his pompous self righteous ass ask questions.

I suspect they looked at it and found they couldn't get it done. Those travelling shows are booked for years in advance, if RRE could run in August a very good chance where ever they are normally booked can run too.

I think we knew it was coming, is now official, Red River Ex cancelled for 2020. It is with heavy hearts we announce that, due to the COVID-19 situation, we've made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Red River Ex scheduled for June 12 to 21, 2020. After much consultation with the Canadian fair industry, government officials and our board of directors, we know this is the right decision for the safety of our community. Not once in our 71-year history would any of us think that the Red River Ex would not happen. We’ve faced many years of bad weather but nothing that would jeopardize the health and safety of our volunteers, staff and guests. We ask that you mark June 18 to 27, 2021 on your calendars as we look forward to celebrating Manitoba’s largest summer festival – the Red River Exhibition! In the meantime, please stay home, stay safe, wash your hands and listen to the directives from health professionals. We'll make it through this together and will be back better than ever! That is one opinion, not the prevailing one from my discussions today. I foresee a return to hugging people you know and are close to coming back long before shaking the hand of a stranger. It already is not a standard greeting in all cultures and as we continue to diversify I can see it fading completely.

It has its time and place for sure. I can absolutely be more productive at home when I need to complete a certain project or such but creativity and collaboration are best fostered with other people around. Some companies have been forced to have field service workers pick up trucks from a central point as a cost cutting measure. If you ever travel through any of the bedroom communities they are filled with work/ company vehicles. Staff often putting 100km/ day or more on company vehicles and fuel to live where they want to live. Some of those costs need to be the expense of the employee. Sadly it ends up costing everyone the freedom of doing the work the best way for the sake of saving costs spent by a few.

I like working from home and can be very productive doing. In to this cuurentb5 week stretch I am over it. I need the freedom to go the office when I need or want too. I need to be able to have personal interactions with coworkers and customers. 4 hours of video and conference calls today does not match the need of being person to person at times. An interesting conversation was repeated a few times today, is the hand shake dead? Will you ever be comfortable shaking hands again?

Are you suggesting Google is a hoax now? Type the question in and hit enter. That’s pretty hard to do. Just look at the source and pick one that would pass a test of MBB peers...

According to Google 15% and change in Canada, 20% in Sweden. Sweden’s total pop is roughly 10.5 million vs our 37.6.
-
I thought this graphic was a fitting update to the Sweden experiment. Couldn’t capture the full ranking in one frame but here are Sweden and her closest neighbours. Norway was one of the first to enact social distancing and backed it up with severe penalties for not obeying. They have already started to back off some of those restrictions, Sweden will likely need to implement some as their health system is now overrun with cases. Strike that, you’ll have to click the link, I forget that this forum won’t host images directly. https://www.covid-19canada.com/?#readmore

Not really a new trick at all. I am sure you could reread the first 10 pages and see someone blaming China and calling it a bio-weapon, then again the mods have been pretty good and cleaning up the conspiracy crap so it might not be there any longer. At one point there was even speculation that a Dr formely of the virology lab had something to do with it as she was the focus of an RCMP investigation and of Chinese heritage. I think the "New Trick" will be how many news cycles he can get out of restating a theory that has been disproved already. Anything to keep the focus away from the true problem, his own failures...
