I think of it this way, need to have 15 of those guys play on the 42, 5 are the QB and specialist. You have another five that are back ups from last year, Volny, Jade, Labbe, West and Thomas. So really five guys last on the roster next week. I think there are some gems in there like Freddy Harris, Marrket, Wild Pierce and Kennedy.
Perspective .. love it.

Press Conference @ 2pm today.

If you want to panic you could think of it this way. We were the worst team in the league last year and none of our presumptive starters got beat out in training camp. That includes rotation or backup guys who inherited their jobs from better players who left. I guess you could say Hefney but let's be honest about what else is going on there.
And the strength of this regime is supposed to be finding import talent. Did even one import rookie stand out in TC or the exhibition games this year? I mean some guys did ok (Markett) but there were no "this guy is obviously going to play a long time in this league" finds this year.
Wirte off last night if you want. I certainly undertsand the context of that score. But remember this, those guys were the best Joe Mack could do to try improve this team.
Caveat to the above: I realize finally cuts haven't happened. Maybe Jovon gets axed for Markett or something like that.
While I don't disagree that our record proved us to be the worst team in the league last season .. I will offer one caveat .. we were decimated by injuries coming out of the gate and that played a large part in why our record was as bad as it was early last year. That said, I do agree that on the surface it doesn't seem that we've found people to really push the imports we have on our roster .. if nothing else, the young guys who showed promise last year (Washington for example) will have another year of experience and SHOULD be more sound.
While I am disappointed by the loss last night .. I try to keep things in perspective .. it *IS* just a preseason game .. and by and large, completely meaningless .. though it would have been nice to see the team learning to win together before June 27.

Sounds like he and Garrett are having some issues .. but that starts with the snap from center .. coming to Goltz high.

I think, with a positive showing tonight, Kennedy makes the roster as a returner.

So Dr. Snuggles just has to give us his user name and password and we're all good.
#hacktheplanet? ;-)

Yeah .. when you consider that both our starting tackles were injured and we were down to our fourth string running back when camp closed .. it's no wonder we were terrible out of the gate.

Guys. Let's chill a bit .. some people just happen to have had a problem connecting to the site with a specific setup (I had no issues myself) .. it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things and Rich found a workaround quickly. It's all good.

he's already here.
All Hail Zontar!

What version of IE are you using?

Shouldn't be a flash issue KBF .. site works fine (both mobile and regular) from my iPhone ..

Works for me in IE (both home and the office).

Hard to know what happened behind the scenes. Always felt odd to me that Burke was handed the job without looking around and holding some interviews first. 52-0, 44-3, losing 29-10 at home to Jarious Jackson all would have been enough to give me pause.
I think, chemistry wise, there was a lot wrong with the team last year .. it was pretty evident that the coaching staff wasn't all on the same page and that translates over to the players ..

Wouldn't do it here .. but has no problem doing the same for another team .. smells like someone was fishing for his release.

Interesting battle going on at RT ..

Statement games are usually events that become prominent on players' resumes.
For coaches, there are more wide-ranging opportunities to create highlights and turning points and to have course-changing influence and impact.
Was Monday such a day for Winnipeg Blue Bombers' head coach Tim Burke?
Part-way through the workout at the practice field just west of Investors Group Stadium, Burke, about to begin his first full season in charge, assembled about two dozen veteran players.
Practice continued all about them, as if the small group was in its own little bubble, while the coach spoke.
"Basically I told them, most of (you) guys are going to make the team," Burke said after practice. "Now it's up to them: 'What kind of team do you want to have?'

The give and take between Joe Mack and Tim Burke is perhaps the most important thing the Blue Bombers have going, and with each day it moves toward a more productive place.
GM and head coach don't have to like one another, although in this case they do, but they need to respect the other and allow him room to work.
Mack can't coach and Burke can't scout. They have to trust one another to fulfill his responsibilities.
Mack has to bring the players in and then get out of Burke's way.
For his part, Burke must believe Mack's instincts are correct and the players he supplies are worthy.
When the relationship loses balance in either direction it doesn't work. GMs can't fall in love with players because of tape or a workout and force them on a coach. Coaches don't have time to scout and can't be sticking their nose into that end of the process.

Good for the league. The added exposure is a great thing. Now, let's see the league place extra emphasis on bettering their on field product (in terms of consistent officiating).

Let's be honest here.
Carter is a great story. But he ain't ready.
Special teamer (at most) right now .. if he's in our lineup with any regularity .. we're in trouble.
I'm rooting for the kid and it looks good that he's making a push but there's no way he cracks the 42 (or 46 for that matter).

Bamba went in the 6th round, so it's not really the same thing.
Didn't he also slip (a bit) due to the fact his agent is a giant ******?
