  2. From what I can gather, it is the shouting True North then the cheering that follows it up. That and cheering for a corporation is apparently disrespectful to the veterans who have fought for our Country. He goes on to say it is fine for the Dallas fans to shout out "Stars" during their anthem because that is the name of the team, while it is not fine in Winnipeg because True North is the name of the corporation. Huh? So we can cheer for a team, but everyone knows all corporations are evil, so we can't cheer for them. Even though they own the team you are allowed to cheer for and if it wasn't for the corporation there wouldn't be a team to cheer for, which Winnipegers know all to well. Got it. I've never really understood the cheering after "True North" part myself. it is kind of like you are cheering yourself for yelling out those words, which seems odd to me, but it doesn't bother me nor do I find it disrespectful. The comments are not favourable to his article. I suspect most of them are from Winnipeg, don't think anyone else really cares.
  3. I tried reading this article 3 times on my phone and each time their ads booted me off to another site. For that reason I put no stock in what they say. Winnipeg has a tradition of this. Same thing at Bomber games when people yell Blue during the anthems.
  4. I'm really indifferent on the Lapo hire. But at the same time I can't think of a hire that would make me feel any different. This organization just has to start winning. Nothing else really matters.
  5. I did want Cortez, but he's out of the running now. My second choice wouldn't be PLAP. In fact, I'd go with a guy who's never been an OC over PLAP.I guess my new choice is Chapdelaine. Pretty good track record even last year until he lost both Durrant and Glenn. Jones? Nah, he's not been a good OC. I'd take him as a receivers coach tho. Mass? I think he'll be the Eskie HC. The Redblacks wouldn't even let us interview him for OC. Jackson? Never been an OC. I'd take him over PLAP but, I'd rather have him as a QB coach. I'm good with either Chaps or Lapo. The last time Lapo was here, he doesnt have a good and durable QB. Great, we'll find out tomorrow that Chaps is now jobless. Chaps better choice is to go in Ottawa with a durable Henry Burris. I dont think he will go back in Buono's arm and go to Edmonton with will probably have a rookie-HC and brand new coaching staff. I know people have been saying this for a while now, but Burris is going to be 41 next year. Nobody escapes Father Time forever. I think Ottawa regresses next year.
  6. O'Shea's quote on why he hired Marcel two years ago:
  7. Here is a pic of the press conference. Notice the color of the shirts that Lapo and O'Shea are wearing?
  8. Right now Rogers cell plan in Manitoba are significantly cheaper than Roger plans in Ontario. Lowest tier in ON is 500 MB data, unlimited calling / texting / messaging for $70 In MB its lowest tier is 2 GB data, unlimited calling / texting / messaging for $50 The MB plan is cheaper to compete with MTS. If MTS ever gets bought out by one of the National carriers, expect to pay ON like pricing since there will be no local competition to bring the price down.
  9. It is not that curious. No way leaves TSN for a 1 year contract. If he was the guy they wanted, he needed some security.
  10. Let's not forget that this is Lowry's second season in the league. Many players go through the sophomore slump. Get used to it as we add a few rookies every year, you will see inconsistencies and struggles from them.
  11. I don't know, me and you live here year round and we don't hang out. Lapo spent 3 years as a receiver coach with the Argos in 2000, 2001, and 2006. So O'Shea was with Hamilton in 2000, Toronto 2001 and on. Don't know how much a LB would interact with a receiver's coach.
  12. I think Scheifele gets the long term deal and Trouba gets a bridge deal, unless they could get Trouba to sign long term around $4 -5M AAV (which I don't think his agent would do). But we really don't know what Trouba is going to grow into, so a long term contract could be a risk for both sides. (overpaying for the Jets, not maximizing payout for Trouba) Unless of course they end up losing both Ladd and Buff, then that opens up space going forward to sign them both to longer term higher contracts, and some stability going forward.
  13. This isn't surprising. Unless the Jets are ready to pay the moon, both sides would want to see how he progresses this season before hammering out a contract.
  14. I just don't get who benefits if it is rigged? Why would you rig it? And why would the players agree?
  15. If it was rigged why would they make Pistma and Chiarot win?
  16. Interesting article from Jetsnation.ca comparing Noel (177 games coached with the Jets) and Maurice (now around 150 games coached) http://jetsnation.ca/2015/12/2/two-graphs-comparing-claude-noel-and-paul-maurice This graph is the 5 v 5 shot differential (where all shots are defined as goals, saves, misses, and blocks.) Which is an indicator of how a team controls the play. Of course the article goes on to criticize the team with the Special Teams shot differential because of the penalties the Jets take under Maurice, but that 5 on 5 graph is crazy with how he started turning that around after about 25 games coached. Could argue he has had better players than Noel the last 2 years, but he had them going in the right direction in the second half of the season he took over.
  17. How much more air time would this video get?
  18. Myers is getting Buff syndrome. 2 minutes for being too big.
  19. I don't begrudge any athlete going for the money. Their careers are incredibly short and will be cut without the remorse the moment their skills deteriorate.
  20. Is his contract up in Calgary?
  21. For 2016, the Draft Lottery will be utilized to determine the top three slots, with 14 teams in the mix for the top pick, the 13 teams for the second overall pick and 12 remaining teams for third overall. That means that the team finishing dead last would be guaranteed to draft no lower than fourth overall.
  22. I think the new logo is a ploy to get the Federal Government to kick in money down the road to make the maple leaf in the new logo bigger.
  23. If this is all it is (and I don't at all know if it is), I wouldn't call this a character issue. People are allowed to have their own preferences on where and what type of city they would like to live in. Having a preference for something other than where you are currently isn't a character issue.
