GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
If anyone at the club reads this, you should be ashamed of yourselves. It’s hotdog season, come on! Hook our radio guys up!

GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
The message to MOS should have gone something like “Love ya bud, but you’ve proven your personnel decisions aren’t up to snuff. The front office is going to bring in the players, and it’s time for you to work with what you’re given”

GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
I don’t think they have equal blame, but I think there’s something to this. I understand a GM shouldn’t meddle as a rule, but there were issues and trends seen by the yeomen on here that Walters, or any ops staff in the pros, should have been able to mitigate sooner. Letting all the top-end talent get into their mid-30s at the same time is a fail. If MOS doesn’t want to use more impactful players, why is the option still being given to him? Why were Kyrie Wilson, Jake Thomas, BA etc even offered spots to compete? That last grey cup game alone should have been the wake-up call to Walters. At a certain point, one guy is there to provide the best on-field talent possible, the other is there to use the talent provided to win football games. If the coaching staff is undermining that, the GM has to make the tougher calls. Imo, Walters isn’t completely blameless in that context.

Yeah as much as I hated seeing him kill the Bombers over the years, Ray was a class act through and through

That was the weirdest playoff game. Noon start on a Saturday. Crazy icy snowstorm the night before. Stands iced over. I remember watching Kevin Glenn toss picks, incompletions and skipping pass off the turf while whoever our OC was at the time refused to run the ball, then watching Ricky Ray complete 86/88 for 200 yards to their RBs. Icing on the **** cake was seeing Glenn throw a 2 yard out on 3rd and 8 to end the season and Stegalls career.

Yeah this is probably better in the long run than win one, lose one. 2008 was like that. They started 1-6 but they won a home game going into an August bye that kind of pushed off changes being made. It took being swept by the riders in the home-and-home, then they made a few moves, too little too late. Ended up hosting a playoff game in the weak east at 8-10 but got embarrassed by a crossover Edmonton team. Low key one of the saddest Bomber games I’ve ever been at. I don’t nail all my comparisons, but this season feels SO much like 2008.

Yeah. This is the crabbiest it’s been in a very long while. We need a win around here big time.

He was quite active on the CFL.ca forums for a number of years. I’d read on the other form that he’s unfortunately suffered a degree of cognitive decline and is in assisted living.

Maybe she lurks on here and follows the team obsessively. Maybe she drives up for the Banjo bowl every year and watches every other game on TV. How would you know? I mean, first of all who cares? I’m just interested about your thought process there. That’s a lot of random assumption.

Why wouldn’t the consideration at least be on the table? Or do you mean it was a dream world to have both Brown and Zach on the roster? The latter is true. Agree with this. I’d rather see what Ravi Alston can do than bring in Lucky. Alston didn’t do anything in his one start last year, but he’s at least more the body type they need on the roster. IF Lucky still has any speed, he can be a weapon, but yeah even peak Lucky wouldn’t make enough impact on his own in this team right now. He also tends to get hurt if he gets tackled more than a couple of times in a given game. Just to throw a name out there, if I were Walters I’d be trying my damndest to make a trade for Dunbar Jr.

Obviously that would be great but I don’t think Rourke’s coming back up here at all.

3 stars turds and maybe a glimmer of hope
It’s possible but it has to be over 2 generations of QB’s, and it requires a lot of tough cuts when needed. Calgary did it, from 92-early 00’s and again from more or less 08-18 Montreal stayed consistently good-great from their rebirth through the mid-2010s. I mean, having a generational QB takes a bit of luck too, but they built great teams around him for a good 15 years.

I thought they’d be destroying everybody with their 27 DL Stats wise he is, yes. I’d put Collaros and BLM around the same tier. Harris was playing better than both of them before he got hurt fwiw

He doesn’t have to do anything, that’s the problem with giving a guaranteed deal to a guy that age, or anything beyond 2 years in football really.

Good point, when was the last time we could line up 2 returners that were both actual threats?

I know you can’t judge it fully, but I really think Calgary would have steamrolled Zach up the middle. I don’t think it ends close without Streveler. Even in the 3rd when Strev was figuring it out we got comparable results to Zach’s. Streveler can throw the ball as an actual quarterback.- Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Best case for us is he gets tired of the perennial interim coaches in Ottawa and signs back here in 2026. If they can ever manage to get the rest of that organization together, look out.- GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
You mean the Bombers needed it- GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
Agreed. I was hyped too. He just couldn’t stay healthy, and missed a few plays when he was on the field. I don’t think he suffered from a lack of opportunity. I’d push back on the “Zach only throws to his favourites” comments. He can zone in on the first read sometimes, but if a WR can run a route and get open, they’ll get thrown to. It’s not like he just wants to throw to his buddies. I’m not really a Zach guy at this point in his career, but you’ve gotta be fair.- Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
That’s just it. Ottawa is in a better place moving forward at QB than most of the league. BC- Adams probably is at his ceiling, Proukop isn’t going to take the next leap. Calgary- McCheese and his even fatter backup. Edmonton- MBT is what he is. Ford could improve I guess. Us- Hinges on Strev. Not much of a future with Collaros. Sask- Same as here minus Streveler. TO- I think Dukes is quite impressive given the situation. I can’t stand Kelly, but he’ll probably be back too. They’ll be ok at QB for a while. Montreal- They’re in good shape as well. Has anyone mentioned that Fajardo’s play improved after a year of working with Calvillo? I think that’s been very overlooked. Hamilton- Powell might be good, completely unproven. BLM is more cooked than Collaros. Then Ottawa with Brown and Crum. If I’m building a CFL team from scratch, I’ll take their QB room over anyones right now. Problem there is, the rest of the team being scratch.- Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
The one silver lining is we haven’t had to hear FIFO much lately- GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
I like that. Seemed like he had something. We actually thought we were deep at receiver coming out of camp lol. He’s even got a rank. Lt. Jim Dangle. - GTD WEEK 4 - BOMBERS @ STAMPS
