He joined Paul McCartney & Wings as a guitarist in 1972 & was with Paul for years. It was McCartney who founded the band & not Laine. He also had a hit as lead singer with the Moody Blues in 1965 with Go Now when they were a blues band before Justin Hayward & John Lodge joined & changed them into a prog rock band in the late 60's.

Nah, it wasn't Malveaux. You guys are thinking about Dwight Anderson, the mouthy corner with the Stamps when they won the GC in 2008. He wore dreads & just wouldn't shut up. Hufnagel grew tired of his act & got rid of him.
-
He's had some problems since his playing days from what I've heard. Don't know if they're true so that's all I can really say.

Walker played for the Stamps, Toronto & Hamilton, He still lives in Calgary. His play really tailed off after he left Calgary just like Mark McDonald. Walker was a Western Conference All Star in 1981 at Corner. Pretty good punt returner as well. If you look at McDonald's stats with the Bombers, he would have been an all star if his numbers were for one season & not spread out over 3. He was underused but still pretty good. I'll be honest, when McDonald played, I always felt that there had to be somebody out there as a receiver who was better.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

What time was that? The Ti Cats think Orlondo Steinhauer is this almost God Like figure. That he was some kind a cracker jack HC. A coaching guru. Yet, he didn't win anything. So, Steinhauer had a 15 win season in 2019. Who cares?? The Bombers killed the Ti Cats twice in the Grey Cup & he's had two losing seasons since as a coach. If any coach is overrated, it's Steinhauer. -
The Niners survived the initial onslaught. Had the Eagles scored two touchdowns rather than two field goals the game would have had a different outcome. Brock Purdy is unflappable. He looks the same being down or up 14 points or up. The guy is already a pretty good qb with just two years as a starter. He'll only get better.

That bridge has been rebuilt. Only some demented Bomber fans would hold a grudge 40 years later. Did you ever read his book? Even though he went on to play in the NFL with the Rams, he said he made a huge mistake leaving Winnipeg. That he regrets that whole situation in 1983 & how it went down. He realized that had he have stayed & signed a new contract that he might have been a Grey Cup champion.

McDonald could make some nice catches & he played opposite Mike Holmes in the mid to late 70's. But he was small. And he could be inconsistent at times. make a great catch & then drop a ball right into his hands. I think he was always considered a temporary stop gap type of receiver. That he would start until the Bombers found someone better. As a Bomber he made 79 catches for 1,313 yards & 4 touchdowns between 1975-77. After he left Winnipeg he played for the Stamps, Saskatchewan & Toronto, He had only 4 catches for 45 yards from 1976-78 with those 3 teams. At 5'10 & 170 lbs the physicality of the game finally caught up with him.

Hurts is top flight. The Eagles will play the 49ers for the NFC Championship. Why do we have to be subjected to even more of that idiot Davis Sanchez & the Unknown Woman beside him om NFL broadcasts?

Selleck is nearly 80 so I thought 15 seasons would be a good send off. It'll be interesting how they say goodbye with the characters. Will Jamie get a big promotion on his way to the Commissioner's chair? Will Danny find a love interest & get remarried? Will Erin set her sites on being District Attorney? I expect Frank will retire & ride off into the sunset.

Benard played for the Bombers from 1974-77. He was a DB. He played in the same defensive backfield as Peter Ribbins.

Huck became a lawyer. He worked at my friend's father's law firm in Winnipeg after his hockey career ended. His father also was Peter Warren's lawyer as well as represented CJOB.
-
Not saying he isn't a nice guy but he wasn't a very good receiver. Brock would hit him in the hands & he'd drop the ball.

In late October, the Niners went 0-3. Tye Seahawks were sitting in first place in the NFC West. The Niners looked awful. Every team has injuries to deal with & ups & downs during the season. I'm not an Eagles fan but they're very good.

They're 10-2. Best record in the NFL. Anyone who takes the Eagles lightly deserves to lose.

Screw the Riders & their fans. They don't care about us. I won't care about them. -
Any young guy in the 1970's who went thru a bad breakup could relate to this song. And the Way Myles Goodwin sang this song with such emotion... I broke up with my girlfriend right around when this song came out in 1977. I thought she was the one. That we'd be married & have kids. Lots of pain at the time. Now, I just smile thinking about it & I'm glad I knew her. That she went on & has had a happy life.

Just adding to what I was talking about regarding what killed the band scene in Winnipeg. Society had changed. My father liked going to the "beer parlour" after work. The beer parlour had no music at all & women weren't allowed. That changed in the 1950's when women & live music was finally allowed. He never liked music in the pub. His generation grew up with different liquor laws. For 20 plus years things stayed the same. Then in the 70's. people wanted the govt to modernize the liquor laws again to allow dancing & taped music. So, taped music was allowed. People liked taped music. There were no breaks after each set like bands would have. The music was continuos for 8 or 9 hours. Also, bars became a place where it was easier to meet the opposite sex so very few people missed the band scene in Winnipeg after the liquor laws changed. Definitely, it was the end of an era. There were still venues in Winnipeg that hired bands but it was tough for bands to find a place to play.
-
That's the first I heard that. The Eagles were the first seed in the NFL with the best record. I never heard any "expert" ever say they were the 8th best team in the NFL.
-
It was the liquor laws that changed everything. The MLCC allowed hotel pubs to have recorded music. That change was made between 1975-77, not sure what year. Before, hotel pubs only could have live music (bands). I know, my friends & I used to go out Fridays & Saturday nights to listen to bands before the laws changed. Once the liquor laws changed, very few bands had venues to play & that is what killed the band scene in Winnipeg, All kinds of bars sprang up around Winnipeg as the recorded music didn't just have to be in hotels anymore. It had nothing to do with the music industry in Manitoba.

San Francisco hammered the Eagles today in Philly. That upset the NFL apple cart. Everyone thought the Eagles were the class of the league. Now, not so much. Watch out for the Niners. This was a statement game today.

You know, I remember a few year's back when we played Anaheim in that playoff loss. Some people were offended when posters referred to Corey Perry as Katie.

Ritchie Hall. Blitz, blitz, blitz, blitz as we don't generate any pressure from our DL. Soft DBs who use pillows to tackle & don't punish receivers.
