  1. Don't want to turn this into a Kaepernick thread but look at the guy physically. He's lighter & much thinner than he used to be. He doesn't have the strength he used to have. He seemed to regress as a qb since Harbaugh left & makes wrong decisions with his reads or often seems confused when he played. Carroll won't get rid of Russell Wilson to make him his starter so there's that. If Carroll likes him as much as you say then why not sign him to back up Wilson? That deal was supposed to happen in April but hasn't. The hold up or failure is probably over money & the reluctance to pay Kap what he thinks he deserves as well as the baggage he'd bring with him to the locker room. The other thing if the NFL deems the guy to no longer be an NFL qb for whatever reason then his career is over.
  2. Everybody kind of wrote off the Esks & that's not a smart thing to do in a very competitive West Division not counting the Riders.
  3. Bridge looked. awful. Absolutely. awful. Good for Jones. They'll keep Vince Young now.
  4. Well, a so called good dude that craps over the people who sacrificed their lives for his freedom to kneel during the National Anthem. If he isn't getting paid millions anymore he won't be as charitable. Is he good enough to be on an NFL roster? Debatable with his diminished skills at the money he'd want. He brought a storm over his head by doing what he did the way he did it. There's no one to blame but himself. If he's that upset about the way things are in America then he should have ran for public office in November to enact changes that he thinks are important as he would have been elected. Instead he never even bothered to vote. That's when I lost total respect for him. His refusal to vote means that he reneged on his democratic right for change.
  5. Watch Jones & Murphy bring in everybody's cuts.
  6. Kaepernick decided to make his protest political by refusing to stand for the national anthem. Then he admitted he never voted in the Presidential election. No one wants to touch him now because of the headaches he would bring to any team that signed him. Any team he's on would be in a media fish bowl. Coaches don't like distractions & he'd be a huge one. Kaepernick's now a backup qb carrying a huge salary with political views a lot of fans & companies don't like. That's a huge no no in the eyes of Roger Goodell & the NFL.
  7. Kinda too late now as these decisions are made in January & February when it comes to setting budgets for free agency at each position. Myself, I think if we have to rely on Hurl as our starter because of ratio &/or money then we entirely missed the boat as an organization. He never showed in 2015 he was capable of being a starting Mac lber. Why do they think he is capable now?
  8. I hope Mayweather gets the you know what beaten out of him. It'll be a boxing match so it won't happen.
  9. As well, getting first team reps every practice & playing full time.
  10. Cough, cough... You actually said that? LOL! BTW, I don't disagree with you at the MLB position.
  11. if that's the reason & it probably is, if our defense fails then that's on the entire organization. Not the player.
  12. So did I. Too many bad memories of 2015.
  13. Just proves that a coach's IQ is based on the talent level of the players he has at the time. Kelly was OC & considered a great football mind as he had Matt Dunigan as his qb in 1992-93. When he was HC in 09 he was stuck in the late 80's & early 90's with an offense of that vintage with 2 running backs as well as Stefan LeFors & Michael Bishop. Big drop in Kelly's IQ. Alienated everyone. Epic fail.
  14. I read that Nichols will play as long as he feels he needs to. I guess that means if he wants to play the majority of the game that O'Shea will let him.
  15. Randy, that game was a **** tsunami!
  16. I was at that game as well. I never saw a qb as bad as Boltus. I never saw a head coach as bad as Tim Burke. Those 2 were meant for each other.
  17. I have a Don Matthews story. I was a volunteer at CJUM FM in 1978 when I was a student at the U of M. I was sent to a news conference the day before the Bombers hosted the Eskimos during that season. I was the last guy to interview Esks Head Coach Hugh Campbell as I wanted to hear what the other media people were asking before my turn. Plus I was a rookie & a little nervous so I didn't want to just jump in there. Started interviewing Campbell & Matthews kept interrupting in the background yelling, "Let's Go Coach!! Let's go!! Everytime he did that I had to stop my tape recorder & start over. This happened about 3 times until one of the media people there told him to be quiet & knock it off. Gotta say that Campbell knew I was doing this as a volunteer & not being paid & he gave me some really good answers to probably some bad questions. That was Matthews though. The Don. Interviewed Ray Jauch & he was gracious & helpful as well.
  18. Matthews won 5 more Grey Cups as an assistant coach & DC with the Eskimos from 1978-82. Ten Grey Cups. That's mind boggling just in itself.
  19. People weren't as gullible in 1973. Trump's base, Breitbart & Fox News will just say it's fake & that everything will be okay.
  20. I'm not trying but he deserves the right to try while he plays. He may turn out to be one of the greats. He got us into the playoffs & that's a start.
  21. Winning that game was so sweet! First Grey Cup berth in 22 years. Especially after 1983 in the WCF when Tom Clements separated his shoulder in the 1st half.
  22. None of those players that said hi ever won a Grey Cup for the Bombers but they were great players in their own right. They were proud to wear the Blue & Gold & fans were proud to cheer them on. Without those guys we wouldn't have a team. Like Jonas in 1971, Nichols led a resurgence of the team last season. I'm glad he's our qb & I hope he has continued & further success. BTW, it takes more than a great qb to win a championship... It's a team game.
  23. iHeart, maybe I came down a bit hard on you but you can see from the reaction of the CFL, the comments here & on facebook as well as twitter he was a special coach. I apologize if I came off like a jerk.
  24. iHeart, seriously... sometimes it's best to not say anything at all if you don't know the answer. Do you even know who Don Matthews was? How many games he won, where he sits on the all time coaches winning list & how many Grey Cups he won? How many teams he coached in the Grey Cup? Maybe you should look it up instead of one of us telling you.
