  1. I think we have to concentrate on the best player at every position within the ratios. If a Kicker is a great one like Castillo, then really have no problem with it. However, if we waste a DI spot on a subpar punter like Sheahan, then yeah, we need to change. I'm hopeful we draft a punter out of U Sport but it looks like we won't. Osh & Walters seem happy with Sheahan. The Bombers, flush full of cash just do not want to spend on an area of need anywhere. They're happy with mediocre at positions like Center, DT & Punter.
  2. The problem with developing a Canadian kicker is the 1 year deals. We have a Canadian on the roster & say we develop him. One day he replaces Castillo. Then the Canadian kicker's contract is up & he goes on the tour of NFL camps for a season or 2. Like Lirim Hajrullahu, he never comes back to the Bombers as he ultimately signs as a CFL FA elsewhere. To get him back, then we overpay. And that goes for virtually every position. It's hard to develop talent when they can & will be poached as free agents. The 1 year deals are a scourge that need to be eliminated. Looks like our Aussie punter is coming back. Oh joy.
  3. That was a hundred years ago. We were a manufacturing hub much like the Windy City. We had all the meat packing plants for Western canada like Chicago did for the md west of the US. We were also a grain & wheat hub with an mportant commodity exchange. Both cities grew rapidly because of the railroad but that's where it stopped. Today, we're more like the Canadian version of Des Moines, Iowa.
  4. You'd think that having the chance to play on a Stanley Cup winning team would motivate some of the lazy & entitled NHL talent to want to play here but with today's players, I guess not. Having the chance to hit the links or the beach everyday usurps wanting to win a championship. I had a coach once who said that there are players who don't care if they win or lose. if they play or not. In the case of NHL players, living in Southern California, Texas or South Florida was more important. Just as long as they got paid. He called these guys Jacket Players.
  5. I suspect things will be a lot different a year from now.. If Zach is even on the roster.
  6. That's called trying to fit a circlel into a square hole... Or vice versa. It's also a sign that Buck is probably a good game planner from watching hours upon hours of video but if the plan went off the rails he couldn't adjust.
  7. Mitchell is more brittle than Zach. His shoulder is surgically repaired & if he takes a hit it'll be over. Zach isn't held together by surgical thread & staples. One hit to the head may finish him as a player but he seems to have developed a bit of a toughness/longevity streak the past 4 seasons. We'll see.
  8. This would be unique...
  9. He trains underwater in a pool carrying a weight. He can hold his breath for nearly 5 minutes. I think he felt as he ages he has to change things up. Apparently last off season he bulked up which led to early season injuries. This off season he wants to build up his stamina.
  10. Incredible. Amazing. Outstanding. Awesome. Unbelievable.
  11. Bud Riley was probably one of the baldest head coaches we've ever had But he wasn't funny. He was always kind of sour. The exact opposite of his son Mike who would also become Bomber Head Coach in 1987. Bud didn't trust very many people while Mike was a warm & friendly man who won people over easily. Bud Riley had a running feud for years with Jack Matheson during his time as Bomber HC from 1974-77. Especially after Matheson wrote a story in the Winnipeg Tribune when Riley was a rookie HC saying veteran qb Don Jonas wasn't very happy with him. Jonas was also critical of GM Earl Lunsford poking his nose into the qb room then criticizing Jonas publicly for poor decisions throwing the ball. It ultimately led to the Jonas trade to Hamilton for Chuck Ealey.
  12. He makes mistakes at the worst of times. Costs us games.
  13. Dickenson doesn't plan the O anymore. He's not OC anymore. He can't anymore as a HC & GM. Too much on his plate. If he was an OC then the Stamps would be much, much better offensively. He's also a heckuva QB coach. Dave is looking very & tired & I thibnk he's feeling the pressure. I'm friends with Dave but haven't talked to him in awhile. I think there'll be changes at the top if they have another losing season.
  14. Stanley is back there. Nuff said.
  15. I've stopped watching The Rookie. As soon as that new cadet came on board who had a meddling mother & a reality TV show, that was it for me. Haven't watched it since. That show could have been so good if it was grittier but they've turned it into some kind of bad dramedy.
  16. I have more than my share as well.
  17. Remember how bad things were with Team President Garth Buchko, GM Joe Mack & HC Tim Burke? I don't think in 2014 when Miller, Walters & Osh were hired replacing those Three Stooges did we think in our wildest dreams we'd be where we're at financially as an organization. I just hope that we can maintain things for a few years yet. Remember the RedBlacks Expansion Draft? Ottawa GM Marcel Desjardins decided not to pick any Blue Bombers in the last round. He & his Asst GM guffawed at our roster & laughed & then mocked our team on TSN & passing on picking anyone. Both publicly shamed our team saaying on the broadcast that there wwasn't one player left on our 2013 roster that could help the RedBlacks. Desjardins really seemed to be enjoying himself at the expense of the Bombers. I was furious. It's okay for us (Bomber fanbase) to be upset with our team & we'll fight among us here but the hell I'll let fans from other teams make fun of us. Let alone an entitled & smirking now former CFL GM. I'll never forget that as a fan. Even today, when we beat the RedBlacks, the victory gives me a bit more energy than usual. An extra jump in my step. Next to the Riders, the RedBlacks are the team I hate.
  18. Miller is Team President. Walters is GM.
  19. That is awesome. We all know these financial ups & downs are cyclical. The question is how long can the team continue to make $$$ before the downturn inevitably comes.
  20. "Free Streveler! Free Streveler! Free Streveler! Free Streveler! NOW!!"
  21. Seth Doege has played 2 quarters in 4 years... or something ridiculous like that. Is he even still playing?
  22. That's how I wanna go when it's my time. Here one minute & gone the next. RIP Greg Millen.
  23. My neighbourhood soccer team was a little tougher than yours. We kids had a choice between Crown Royal & a 7up. None of that sissy diet stuff. Or we could have a beer like Molson Canadian. If we won, the best player on the field got a pack of smokes. Export A Plain. Hey, it was the 1960's. We played in the fog on our bikes wearing no bike helmets or masks when they sprayed DDT for mosquitos in the summer. And no one made us stop.
  24. Desperation time. In years previous, the Stamps went on the road for the Stampede because 1.2 million people were whooping it up for 10 days. We'll see if this game draws more than 25000. I guess in today's market that would be a good crowd seeing as we can't even sell out LD anymore. Thursday is also Sneak A Peek at the Stampede where people can get in for half price so they'll be competing with families who'll have to decide to come to the Stampede to save a bit of money or go to the game. Buck really is a **** OC. He may wreck Rourke. If there's a problem between those 2 & Doman intervenes, you know who'll get the boot.
  25. You can bet that Buck has been spending time going over the playbook.
