  1. "with the first pick in the 2018/19/20 draft(s) the montreal alouettes are glad to select... I dont know how many terrible seasons that franchise can survive. And Quebec is such an important part of our NI talent in the cfl >.<
  2. Yeah especially this late in the year. We now have a hole to fill at sam. If we move him from corner to sam suddenly he has to adapt to sam (not all dbs can, though im sure he could) And have to fill his spot on the corner. Id only want to do a double swap if it put a better NI on the field instead of hurl.
  3. 16, 17, and 17 games his first 3 years. But yeah thats about it. Mo is a hell of a warrior, I just hope his recovery goes well and he comes back next year at 100%.
  4. insert rodney dangerfield gif here* It seems like when the media pick against us we play our best. Dave ritchie would have this team chomping at the bit to show up the reporters in this league.
  5. That and watching him shed tackles by and bounce off guys twice his size. Watching first contact be 5 yards in the back field then some how he manages a 5-6 yard gain. If he had had a premiere OL and mike sellers blocking for him his whole career no records would have been left standing.
  6. Wasnt he dave ritchies guy? I wanna say went to his alma mater. Also think he had some real bad drops. While we are at it, i still think jace davis got short changed in the offensive change over here.
  7. Remember when every one on here though desjardins was crazy for building a roster of WRs and qbs? Sask sucks because they have the worst management/coach in the league. Bcs qbing has had the wheels fall off the franchise. If i could pick one position to be stacked at (other then QB) its be wr. Swap mos/walters for Jones (shudder) and wed be the bottom rung in the league. Swap BCs qbing this year and ours and we are in the same boat as the leos. Maybe worse.
  8. That woodstock (i dont know if this one mentioned on the radio was another or this one) was just across the border. Americans are more protective of their anthem then any freedom. The ages old flag debacle in the world series etc. Mean while the mic cuts out in toronto and the canadian fans finish singing the american national anthem. Makes me laugh when i hear some people try to say we have no distinct culture all our own.
  9. Fogg stepped in when mo was hurt against BC, and i want to say did as well at one point last year? Hed be my bet to take the spot for MO going forward.
  10. Ya we are. While we are talking about retreads, didnt ricky collins just get cut by the tabbies? Weve gotten a few kicks in at our self over him, wouldnt mind round 2 with him. Also a guy who can return kicks/punts. Guys like collins, and martese jackson a part of why the likes of thorpe will be re hashed a lot. Not as much at the thought that we walked away from a more talented player then we roster, but that he might come back to another team and make the move look bad.
  11. I didnt see a combine appearance so its a bit up in the air. But yeah he certainly seems to be in that blink height range. With his shape and the stuff written about him he doesnt seem the at teasers with a pack, bottle n 2 hotties 12 hours before a game type. Heres hoping though, I do love to watch a quick change of direction undersized type play.
  12. One of the radio stations i heard this morning (92 i think) said in the opening events for woodstock they played the canadian national anthem while americans threw bottles at em. The hip are a lot like the CFL in my mind. A cultural institution of canada. Out side our borders not a whole lot of people get the deep passion that burns for them here. The hip are like our own modern day beatles. Today the hip lost their front man, and we all as canadians lost a lil part of us. This the day after john dunsworth too. Just heart wrenching. Gord Downie may be gone, but the impact hes had on our country will still ripple greatly 100 years from now. The great one of music. The man, and band that march to the beat of their own drum no matter what. Id love to see today, or his birthday made a holiday. Stat or other wise.
  13. This is nuts. I dont like carter. But i do admire the heart of any athlete willing to go out and try to play both ways. Thats insane. I remember eric wilson doing it for us on the line. If you go both ways as a db/wr you better have phenomenal milt like cardio. Cus dang even playing every other plays going both ways thats enough to tire me to death just watching. Id have his WR running a deep route every single play.
  14. QFT. Im not into social media and just the stuff i hear and see of pro athletes on that instatwiterbook is awful.
  15. Hes thew new pat barnes, or maybe tony ortiz. Givens might (and i hope) bring about a fog of forgetfulness when it comes to thorpe.
  16. Man he is some thing else to watch run. Good single cut runners are harder to find then balanced / power backs. A good multi cut back runner is exceedingly rare. Under sized (5'7 194) dominant big sky conference scat back with good hands and good but not great speed (mid 4.4s-4.5) and minimal NFL interest. Lighting cant strike twice... And now that ive gushed about him we can go ahead and cut him LOL. Sounds like a potential MOS guy though. Dare to dream i guess. "Extremely tough competitor. Outstanding work ethic. Excellent character. Good ball security. Experienced four-year starter."
  17. Positions at wr are far more fluid then people give them credit. Darvin adams recently touched on it on an OB pre game show, and givens as well in his recent interview on BB.com I believe his quote was some thing like im ready to step in at any position any time they need me. Lankford also came out of the slot for atleast 3 of his carries and 1 missed deep ball.
  18. Mulumba is a tweener and has been since college. Westerman was a thorough breed pass rusher in college and in the nfl was a pass rushing LBer/de. Mulumba doesnt have near the polished pass rush techniques or skill set. Same amount of college years/games 4.5 sacks to 26. 4.5 tackles for a loss, to 45. In westermans stint in the NFL he recorded more sacks then mulumba has combined between the nfl and college. Westerman was incredible in his combination of athleticism and pass rush skill. Athletically and physically mulumba is similar to westerman. But at the same token athletically and size wise corney dwarfs both a great deal. But hes another guy who didnt come turn key with pass rushing skills. Westerman has an absurdly explosive ability to get off the ball. A lot of his career sacks are made with his first step. Its also why his production dipped after the first year. Teams cant play him straight up and aggressive. Thorpe could play the speedster role, thats the skill set and rep he came to the team with. He was brought into camp as much as a return man as any thing. Lankford doesnt do any thing thorpe cant. Flanders is very much a stand alone in our offense. An X factor. Plop has been trying to hammer a ton of different players into that flanker role. Smith, dressler, denmark, adams probably every import pass rusher got a turn at that smith package. But none made it work like flanders. He is as unique in that position, and un challenge as harris is as our tail back. The loss of the threat of flanders, the confusion and miss match he was to defenses is a much larger loss then his stats would indicate.
  19. One of the very best people the organization and us the fans have been lucky enough to call one of our own.
  20. no i know It does depend a lot on your build and frame. If he was fat with that build he'd be playin TE.
  21. news out of riderville are saying chad owens is close to making his season debut for the crieders.
  22. 6'4 236, does he train in competitive eating with nik lewis in the off season?
  23. Corney has shown more flashes this year, but isnt he banged up too? Imo mulumba would be more raw then corney playing end too. This isnt a westerman type situation. The 4 imps on the DL with jeffcoat and corney rotating is good, especially while we are banged up at WR and starting 2 ni any way.
  24. also a fantastic teams guy. Plus who knows how wild will look when he comes back he has missed a TON of football.
  25. Nah not the worst. Still better then montreal, Healthy to healthy better then a few other teams too. Cant say atm with injures how good it is or isnt, we dont know who is in or out for how long. Not long ago this wr core was called down and derided for not having any elite wr or wr who could stretch the field. That all went away pretty quick though didnt it. We also dont know exactly what we have in a bunch of guys that will probably be forced into action. Its not a bad wr core, its a banged up wr core. Do we need upgrades? sure. Our LB core is in more trouble then our wr core. And our rb depth too. We are on the fringe of locking up a home play off game with a couple weeks to spare. Its not panic time.
