The underrated career of Charles Roberts
wbbfan replied to Arnold_Palmer's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think its a hard call between guys like blink, james west, greg battle, tyrone jones, and rod hill. That would be the next group for me off the top of my head. Hill didnt play here that long, but is the franchise leader in picks and blocked kicks. Battle leads in tackles, west did a lot in several categories as a lber, jones is our lead in sacks, and blink the lead in rushing. All that said, I think blink should go in next year. He deserves to go in before harris passes his rushing record which would be late next year at earliest. This year Id put in one of the great 80s defenders. Or maybe coach cal goes up this year. -
0 chance that happened. It used to happen in practices and crap, but not post korey stringer era. I guarentee if some one goes back to the gap film on TSN they can find clips of him drinking. If that did work, no runner or cyclist would ever pop. Every one would just be guzzling water. There are PEDs that you wont get caught for. Stuff that has masking agents, HGH, Insulin abuse and more. He used juice, had to piss was gonna piss hot and is trying to safe face. I get that players will struggle to own up. But for the riders to double down and back him up, especially after he accosted the official. That is some toxic BS.

🤢Sums it up perfectly. That said I think he and that D will much better than they were with sutbbler.

Lawler 7 games 48 targets. 6.9 per game. Demski, 5 games 30 targets. 5 per game. Bailey 7 games 37 targets. 5.28 per game Adams 5 games 26 targets. 5.2 per game. Woli, 7 games 21 targets. 3 per game. Mcknight, 5 games 15 targets. 3 per game. Collaros put up 199 attempts in 7 games. For an average of 28.4 per game. Lawler has a considerable variance, early when we had WRs banged up he got highs of 12, 9, 8 and tied for his 4th highest game of 7. Vs 3 7 and 2 in the last 3 games with the starters all dressed. Darvin has been pretty high focus since he got healthy with 7 3 6 and 7 passes. TLDR, collaros will lock in on a guy only situationally. The wr core is depleted, a guy comes back into the line up, a guy is hot etc. But he mainly spreads the ball around very well. Collaros is about as cerebral as it gets for an aggressive down field passer who protects the ball well.

Despite the globals and the goat shinning our kick cover team has been a step back from previous years. We seem to give up a big return each game now. Luckily its not the year of the returner any more and we arent giving up TDs.

Can you imagine how much greater the fervor of the rider fans would be if the situations where flipped. And AC leonard had claimed a tainted supplement while popping for a micro dose of some ancient ped, then harris refused to piss for 4 hours and verbally accosted the league official? They'd be picketing the league offices demanding his life time ban. Youd think we had just had Chris Jones as our head coach. The riders had more former PED offenders in various levels and leagues then the entire rest of the league for 5+ years. Or the whole Trevis Smith thing. The riders have consistently not cared about character issues for years. Where as the bombers have put a premium on high character guys. And yet they act like its reverse. The double standard is hilarious.

Thats the truth. I think rocq has dressed for the last 3 games but seen limited reps on D.
-
Yep. Im worried about them sticking with the 8 nis though and rotating the NI wils. Roq has been dressed for a good while. Rose would be the icing on the cake. Being able to rotate and go with the extra DB situationally would be massive. Usually when we talk about filling gaps and improving the team mid season its major holes that need to be filled. For the most part we can fill internally right now. So if we can get an ex cfler back and get healthy, and get some decent kicking this team will be un stoppable.

31 even. They have richie leone punting who has kicked a bit, all be it at a westwood level of a accuracy. Id even take Leone to punt and let legs focus on kicks. Leone could KO, and kick XPTs if needed as well.

I too have been known to fly into fits of rage and verbally abuse officials when I can not pee.

https://3downnation.com/2021/09/20/dickenson-a-c-leonard-tried-to-provide-urine-sample-for-four-hours-riders-forgive-him-for-suspension/ So the riders are back to the he just couldnt pee story. What a joke.

Stove is likely for the next game, so very likely for the elks. Hes the real flex seal.
-
I dont think legs should be or is ready to develop in all 3 roles though. His biggest troubles in the BJB was with a strong swirling wind. I could kick the ever loving snot out of a ball. But I wouldnt have hit 1 in 100 fgs from 40. I think we will continue to see the 2 man job. Mourtada kicking off and hitting XPTs. I wouldnt let him kick FGs from any thing but head on though.

Not giving up the ball is the most basic rule of any position that touches the ball. Not doing the worst thing possible isnt grounds for an upgrade imo. QB A+ RB A- (we dont need harris to be A++ like previously, its been alot harder running this year) WRs B+ (been an A the last few weeks) OL A- DL B+ (Jeffcoat has been dominant the rest have been up and down) Lbers B- (bigg has been a major A+ but the wil play has been D) DBs A+ (Rookies? I dont see rookies. I see beasts.) Kicking F KR F Punting C- Kick cover C Mos, Walters and Wade A+ Hall A Buck B+(with some A trends in the last couple weeks)

Run stopping, and like JB said, thats what you get when you put your men on the line. Its gambling to force a 2nd and long. Briggs and Gauthier are not guys who can fight off blocks and be a 1.5 gap player. They struggle to maintain 1 gap. Wilson and rocquemore are more capable of shutting down 1 gap and being able to scrape to the ball. QFT. With out stove we dont have a guy who can play the nose effectively. Stove can consistently close down 2 gaps by him self. Which leaves us able to run less guys on the front to close gaps, so we have a MLBer free to scrape to the ball / spy. Stove also lets us run a tite front on the DL, canceling the gaps with even less bodies. Both walker and sayles are really talented and athletic. But they are more of the modern NFL 4i/3 technique. Jake can play some 2 and 2 gap but hes not a nose either. For a really long time we've been able to change and find new DTs that can collapse the pocket. Guys like poop, nevis, stove, and brandin bryant. What we do on our DL has been based around having that guy up the middle and we are missing it right now. But with stove having a couple limited practices before the elk game Im sure he will be back soon enough. That spark plug up the middle doesnt just open up plays for our DEs, It opens up things for our smaller DTs. I cant wait to see what jeffcoat can do with stove back in the middle.

I think itd be hard to agree on value. a first round pick thats gonna be in the bottom of the round isnt gonna be that big for ott. But it is a lot to give up. Dedmon and aucliar would be nice pick ups to go along with ward. They could claim any one from our PR or try already. We'd probably need to include some other picks or value.
-
How dumb. We've played 1 more game and given up 98 points and bc has given up 106. PLUS they played ottawa TWICE. The writer quoted our points against how pathetic.
-
Yeah legs isnt going any where. I like the way he bounced back after the illegal punt. Its probably not fair to say, but legs seems much more mentally tough than ali. Id be worried about how mourtada dealt with the misses. Medlock working with legs wouldve been great, for kicking and punting. Im still holding out a tiny bit of hope that at some point this year Medlock comes riding in to save the day.

A lot of teams are rotating that look in against heavy run teams this year. We are seeing an 8 and even 9 man box freuqently. With DHBs right at the back end of the box. Its because the heavy run teams are running inside zone / tight zone schemes. We saw the toss faked last week and used this week in an attempt to get to the outside. Some outside zone plays would really defeat that. But the last couple weeks we've seen repeat flashes of buck strategizing to take advantage of the packed box, with pretty good success. Not only do we frequently run a stacked line, we are doing it with bighill at a wil spot covering wrs. Id say over all we did pretty good vs edm and sir flexalot. The biggest issue in the run game (aside from missing our up the middle spark plug in stove) is arm tackles. Wilder runs through arm tackles. He doesnt run guys over. You gotta wrap him up. They did get a couple decent hits in on him too that left him complaining as well.
-
I call BS on that. Considering he was here for a season and a half. They kept him after we picked up medlock and he made the team. If he was a FO guy, he wouldnt have been here on the PR for most of 15, then finished the year as our kicker, then come back in the offseason, made the team, and sat on the pr for half the year. He was released so he could catch on with another team and have a chance to play. Which happened the same week.
-
He's not on any roster. I wonder if he's an anti vaccine guy or if he's just fallen between the cracks. Seems unlikely as many teams have struggled with kicking and he's a beast. And he can punt too. But crazier things have happened. Better players have fallen between the cracks. He could also want top dollar. In that case I'd go over the cap and lose a first to get some one top tier in if that's what it requires.
-
He's not the best pure rb in the league. He's not half as good as stanback or Harris. He can't block and runs upright as hell he can break arm tackles but can't move the pile. He's good at getting yards in bursts. He isn't a threat to score from any where though. And he can't churn 5 yards per touch with out big gains. That value is extremely low. Because you get a lot of 2nd and longs and go 2 and out a lot. He doesn't help his team win. He's the most over rated guy in the league. One of the lowest value rbs. You can't even kill the clock with him at the end of the game. Harris stanback Whyte Carey and foster are the top in the league in no order. Hes a guy who should go to the xfl or one of the possible spring leagues. He'd be more valuable in the 4 down game. In the 3 down game a back who gets caught for nothing soo frequently is some one you can't win with.

The Blame Game - Bomber scapegoat of the week
wbbfan replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Bailey had a bunch of bad drops early and some bad penalties. We didn't bring in namaan for no reason. A bunch of wrs had tough goes of it in the back end of that stretch. But since then he's been lights out. And he's a max effort guy blocking. Not the most capable but damned if he doesn't do his best. Kicking and kr is the hole for sure. If we got the Kicking game on lock down the return issue wouldn't be too much. And I'm assuming Grant will be healthy at some point this year. So that should just be a matter of time. Nelson is the best of all the mos guys people have wanted replaced. Even Kicking despite the struggle is a developmental spot. Both legs and Ali have tremendous raw talent. It could be a long road but I'm sure one of them will develop into a keeper. If we improve the Kicking and get healthy I don't think the roster has any holes. -
With the bye next week we are at the half way point of the season. Zach is finally getting his MOP favorite status around the league. So time for half way awards and predictions for the end of the year. MOP collaros ofc. He keeps getting better and better each week and he are due for the dominant blow out where he pads the stats. Modp. Lots of guys could take this one. But I'm giving the nod to Jackson Jeffcoat. He's been our most consistent dl by a lot. Tied for league lead in sacks and on track to shatter the forced fumble record. Honorable mention to biggie. Some times his usage doesn't put Him in a good position. But he's been a monster this year. Moc. Demski all the way. He's the best ni wr in the league this year and brings soo much to the team aside from rushing and catching. Honorable mentions to Harris. He's had less games and a harder go of it this year but still a stud. Mool. For my money it's hardricks year. His pass pro is better than ever. Bryant is still an all star but he hasn't been dominant like In his streak winning the award. Mostp. Mike Miller by a giant margin. Mor. From what I can tell alford is our qualifier and he's been tremendous. The best true rookie I've seen at db in a long time. Coach of the year. Plop lmao. Mike oshea slam dunk. Jg veteran award. For strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship, and contribution to Canadian communities. Brady should get a look. Coming back from Injury his charity work and stepping in for Harris for a few weeks. Hugh Campbell leadership award to wade Miller
