If we can’t break tendencies to win this game we aren’t championship material. I am concerned that we’ve gone soft and long in the tooth. Guess we will see. I wouldn’t kick it to him either. Im going to be watching the amount of shifts and motion plays we use on offence. Especially now with grant back who we throw in the package every soo often, and Demski on the verge of his first 1k season. We used a bunch of play action wr screens last week to keep the intermediate pass game going. It’s been great in the past for us too, but when we lean on it too much we see picks. Motion really helps keep the D from jumping route trees and opens those screens up for big plays.

100 over an average returner. Over what we e seen since he’s been out? Soo much more. Not only is he dangerous af he’s soo smart and runs tough. Love that guy
-
awe maybe he likes dirty deeds done dirt cheap. Or Simoni Lawrence. Or any rough rider in the modern era.

Agree. It’s a huge risk not to have a real cover db as a back up. Last thing we need to see a guy like Hallett in cover on a wr regularly. Need more ni dhb/cbs less safeties/teams. Jackson needs to be off soo bad it’s not even funny. I don’t have much hope that we will make good roster decisions. But it’ll be fantastic to get grant back. We’ve been getting butchered in field position exchanges.

Is the half time show more run by the league or the team? If doman is the main guy you can bet it’ll be the biggest show in a decade. Agree totally that they are past due for some hip hop and while I don’t listen to drake hed be a gigantic get for the league. -
With our lack of a nose, our run fits are stretched thin. Lber in A gap, db with ot reaps inability and possibly getting blocked by a wr. Any team that runs option modestly well easily steals one gap back, a good zone or read can do it too. It’s really hard to defend a qb option in the cfl and gap cancel, with out a 2 gap guy it’s basically gambling and hoping for the best. Even back in 21 before stove came back the lone weakness was getting gashed by big run plays when the offence stole back gaps.

Bc is no3 in rush yards against Toronto 1 and us 4. Our d has seen the least rush attempts, we have 5.5 ypc against bc has 4.9. Thing to watch is sacks and turn overs. Bc is tied for league lead in picks with 19 we are in a 3 way tie for 2nd fewest with 14 while tor has 12. We’ve forced 8 more turn overs We’ve given up 29 sacks, the most in a long time. But bc has given up 40. We are 2nd but far behind torontos 12 against and bc is 5th. Bc has made the most sacks with 49 while we are 4th with 40. We have a big edge in big plays for/against as well. Statistically we are both very close across the board.

Some interesting trends for us and bc since our blow out of them at home. bc has had 1 blow out win 37 to 9 vs cal. And 0 other win by 10 or more points with 1 lose by 17 to Hamilton. In the 7 games since they’ve averaged 32 points for and 27.1 points against with 2 loses both back to back. in that time we’ve had 2 blow out wins 1 win by 10 points or more we also had 2 loses not back to back and by 6 and 2 points. In those 7 games we’ve averaged 34.14 points for and 21.7 points against. How strange too that both our loses came against ssk and ham. Edm played us both tough too.

I think we will see a big switch in the west final to put the ball in lawler as hands and force teams to slack on schoen. -

For real. It’ll be random guy from Toronto. Andrew Harris looool -
I’d tune in. Probably be the most entertaining cfl content. as much as I would love that, if we beat them too bad we will disappoint in the west final. Gotta hope for the classic dominate the play on the field but not the score and squeeze out a two score win. I can’t wait for farhan to be pumping vaj tires for mop while the bombers pick 6 him.

Yeah tough one. By reputation and strength of his first half Willy j. Realistically, no one deserves it. Holm I guess? Sergio for teams, Bryant for line. Brady for Canadian and Zach for mop. Sergio doesn’t have a chance, neither does Bryant, Brady and Demski deserve nods but Zach will default as mop candidate and not win. Brady as moc is gonna be our only award. Then yeah it’ll be haba or Sheahan. -

Culturally I think the hip at half time was a big deal, and Gordon light foot was cool. Though they smushed in a few acts and I think the crowd booed bieber iirc lol. -

I think they’ve struggled to find ways to get him involved with the role schoen has played, especially with the effort to spread the ball around to woli and Bailey plus Demskis break out about to be 1k season. It’s hard to feed the ball to 3 1k WRs and a 1500 yard back. Come play offs though lawlers fresh legs will be key. I’d cut back on Baileys plays and give Demski the runs and lawler the routes. Love Bailey but to run designed plays to him over those guys. Demski is too much better a runner and lawler too much better a wr. -

I blame reinbold and the dark ages. No joke, when I’m at a game I’d much rather see some thing like the super dogs, or little kids playing. Little kids playing with and against mascots? Shut up and take my money. Idk musical half time shows for me in person are meh at best. I get that you can’t have super dogs on the grey cup broadcast though. -

Remember when cfl mlbers were 245-260? I know the game has gotten faster and more pass / side line of side line oriented but soo many big athletes kick around down south I can’t believe we can’t get 1 guy who is that big and fast enough to cover ground. It’s funny we were talking in another thread last week about the league focusing more on guys who fall between the cracks of hs and d1. They’d likely be more projects that need more than a year but I think it’s clear guys like him are out there that should be in the nfl or on the path to it but miss out because they aren’t cut out for school. I think that talent pool is extremely deep personally. And that a lot of them would jump at the ability to earn cfl rookie imp cash vs juco or the ultra fringe leagues. Is stiggers nfl draft eligible? Is that still a thing? I remember a few times in the past guys became eligible. Don’t think any one was picked but signed as rookies. -

He was, since we’ve been feeding biggie to an interior ol for basically two years with out a nose tackle he’s stopped playing heads up football vs the run. If it’s not a pass he’s just chin charging an ol trying to clog the a gap. Cole is also a really sneaky smart guy. It’s rare to find that level athleticism with decent size and great football iq. He’s gonna be a stud in this league. Totally. Run fits in the cfl are just too thin when you don’t have a 2 gap nose. Dbs end up taking off tackle gap while getting smacked by WRs, lbers eat dirt from ol. It’s just bad business for defences. If any thing I’d rather run two 2 gappers force every thing out side and lbers flow to the back. I bet the depth BA has had to play at post injury is a big big factor in his dip in performance. Having to use dbs to fill out run fits all the time also means you have to play off wrs more, as the help they have just isn’t as deep. So we play coverages designed to be shallow but further off and give up tons of easy first down passes. -

Nailed it. Bigger deeper better dl being rostered. A nose who can actually be effective taking two gaps away is key. Honestly coaching is part of it too. The Jeff’s have been getting exploited lately for jumping and not maintaining contain. Hansen is also a beast of a run stopper. Kongbo was too. I don’t think it’s about getting biggie closer to the line. If any thing I think he needs to be at regular depth more and reading the play scraping to the ball rather than trying to fill an A gap. He can’t fill and get off a block any more. I think you are really on it though with the dime. I’d bring in Cole/clements in at Sam on some run downs. Or put brings at wil and slide kyrie over to sam for those plays and bring in an extra imp dl. It would also be smart to use Jeffcoat as a naturalized American for the added flexibility at dl. How many targets in each game though. It’s not a speed issue. He can get out into the flats or back into a deep zone. He can’t get off blocks any more, and isn’t very reliable tackling 1 on 1. It’s an explosive/strength issue. Usually older guys get heavier and stronger while getting slower. He has done the reverse. He does a ton of work to stay in shape, but the work he’s done maybe isn’t the best for a mac lber. That’s one of those vets we need to take a long hard look at in the off-season, and probably offer a diminished role to. -

That’s a great point. And drake has done a little bit with the Argos as well. Maybe he wouldn’t want to perform half time for Hamilton if he’s actually a fan, but that would be a huge get. The weeknd is also from Toronto and huge in the rnb scene. That’d be siiick. Colab shows like that are perfect for half time shows. Either way the league would be by far best off by presenting diverse options (diversity is strength campaign) to grow the viewership each year. -

I’d be starting the first team every game save the last. Guys would play a quarter to a half depending on how things are going then the back ups would play. I think it’s foolish to give back ups entire games with soo many weeks to go till the division final. If the Argos keep their foot off the gas I can totally see that. Only thing is that defense at 100% could possibly carry them to a win single handedly over any one in the east. But if they get rusty or out of shape boy it’ll be upset city. I actually think it’ll be good for us not to have too cushy a finish to the regular season. Keep guys playing meaningful games for as long as possible. We still have a lot to work out. -

Easily my favourite in concert band and in my top 5 all time. Personally I think a classic metal show at half time would go over great, the cfls main demographic is pretty much the same as those bands. I also think a rap/hip hop/r n b show would go over great with the younger fans and player base. Damn shame about reed. One of the leagues finest to ever play. -

Like I said, film vs your d is worth 10x film ve other ds. Remember how effective fajardo was his first year in ssk? Don’t forget in the mid 90s it took 2 years for nfl teams to figure out Rick mirer. And he was only running 6 plays. We’ve seen countless times that the first time a start up qb plays our D they perform way better than the 2nd time and on. Dane evans first start vs us in 19 he put up 359 yards 3 tds 1 pick. -
