  1. Hes the REAL teflon don. Nothing could keep chris jones out of football.
  2. I mean, this is the quietest month of the year on here. Nothing much happens in january. It's all waiting for news now. I hear if you say lyle bauers name in the mirror 3 times he will appear...
  3. That does happen. Especially in Canada, we seem to like those players more than most us based pro teams. That said there are guys who bring serious value to their team off the court. The classic example for me is sir Charles with the young Vince Carter raptors. Players have the ability to hold team mates accountable to a level that coaches just can’t reach any more. Some positions also are more demanding of leadership. Safety/mlber, centre, and of course qb. Ed reed was as prolific as a leader as a player. for us guys like Bailey, hardrick, and biggie have been extremely important just in terms of leadership.
  4. Wow that’s gigantic for bc. I’d a started that conversation with a first rounder and players if I was Toronto. Could be. Don’t really have tons of leverage in the cfl especially at 30 years old and under contract. I’d love to hear more from the Toronto end.
  5. Some interesting comments from Neuf on his media availability. Must watch especially for the off season. lots of interesting questions and responses. Not nearly the usual tight lipped stuff we see. cited the injuries combined with the amount of turn over on the ol leading to the struggles they saw early. Not getting to practice and have a camp beside Lofton, Liam’s adjustment to starting, and the injuries that put him back out and Bryant’s scare. Definitely sounds like he forced it back early and wasn’t ready and probably should’ve been shut down much sooner. Also mentions that guys need to get that continuity going early in camp shaking the rust off and not the season. In response to opportunity to improve with change he seems excited and positive about having some change though missing buck and Bourgoin.
  6. Is Allen a pending free agent or some thing? That seems like really low value for Toronto doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Huge get for bc.
  7. That’s odd. Wonder if they have the offers out and just waiting to finalize new hires? If not that’s a really strange choice a month out from free agency.
  8. He might well take it. If he has the kind of 2nd year step forward most guys do who showed well as a rookie, it’ll be hard to keep him off the field. That said I don’t want us to lose Dobson. He was drastically better after the first third or so. Tons of up side and great football in front of him. That said I wouldn’t give him a big pay day. And I could see some one else over paying Dobson. it’s gonna be a hard year for teams to improve their ols with Canadian talent. Kola is the big one we need to move on from. Not holding my breath. Other wise, we should look long and hard at flipping ratio and bringing in more high quality imports who are actual tackles. Also, with the age of half our ol, and injury concerns the last couple years we really need 6-7 starting ol to get through the whole season. I’d also still use as late a pick as possible on Eric schon. Even though he retired, if he ever changes his mind his rights are worth risking a 6th or later in.
  9. He’s 36 with 134 games played. Only 5 games behind big Stan. Hes high on the short list of oldest and most experienced position players in the league. Keep in mind he had injury issues his whole career. Hes played 18 games just twice in his career. 7 times he’s played 12 games or less, 6 of those 8 games or less. 6 years he’s played 14 games or more, and that includes last year where he was abysmal for more than half the year. As far as years he’s played great and the majority of the games, you’re talking just 3 seasons here. He might have more hard miles on him, more wear n tear than any one else in the league. I think it’s very likely his peak form this year will be equal to his best play last year. But I also think he has close to no chance to play more than 2/3rds or the year, and a coin flip when it comes to how many of his games are good or bad.
  10. All good points. We really need change and growth on the ol. But more and more I feel we will sleep walk into camp with the same depth chart as last year. With maybe losing Dobson in free agency and replacing him with Wallace the only some what likely change.
  11. And neuf resigns for his 12th season as a bomber. Boy he needs to play the year at the post injury level. We can’t afford to see him run out in that first half of the season turnstile mode again.
  12. Reality says it. Being half staffed says it. Mos and Walters even talked about how it was just the two of them doing the end season surf because of un certainty up front. You know the role assistant gms and COs play in free agency right? Or franchise stability with established vets. It’s been discussed previously in years where teams have failed to lock in their front office and staff and those off seasons for other teams have been catastrophic. From here, to local and national media.
  13. If we don’t have our front office and coaching staff vacancies filled before February 11th, it’s gonna look bad and hurt us in free agency. Both retention and attracting free agents. And it is no longer enough for us just to retain most of our fre agents. We need to be adding pieces again.
  14. The greatest need in the cfl is fresh blood and innovation. We are far behind the ncaa, nfl and top tier hs offences now in innovation.
  15. Give them the ability to and you will. 🤢
  16. Over rated and under whelming? lol. Idk how to feel about the idea of lapo. On one hand he’s never had a set of weapons like he could here. On the other I don’t think he excels with a qb who improvs a lot. I’m not sure if lapo helps reign in buck or if they clash badly. He learns from each failing and is a great player coach / football mind. Im hoping for new blood. And I hope Marty gets to grow in his role. I don’t think the hire will be disappointing in the off season. With a gap open at wr coach, I wonder if Bailey comes back. Darvin adams is doing flooring which isn’t easy on the body or knees might be open to it. Terrence Edward’s has a very good te/wr clinic. Robert Gordon was doing well in mtl for our hay day and is available I believe.
  17. imo Costello still has a great chance. As he should. But the best case is with an oc to groom him or a former oc to be qb coach and support him. Not many out comes it worried about for oc rn.
  18. It’s all changed in the nil era. Sure is strange
  19. Yep. Bourgoin is interesting. Guessing he wasn’t high on the list for oc candidates. He’s a good coach but even more of a lapo guy than buck. That means hogan and Costello are the only possible hold overs on offence. Meanwhile most of the rest of the league has finalized their coaching staffs. I hope we aren’t waiting to the point it becomes a detriment. I would bring in Jackson as the oc and promote Costello to run game co.
  20. Odd that he flip flops from sac state to maryland. sac state is poised for big stuff going forwards. They raised over 35m in NIL money on one day in October when they had an off season goal of 50, which I think they’re already over. They are looking to build a new stadium and move up to the fbs.
  21. Every team needs to have a few guys who put their body on the line to enable others to shine. But you should be using role players to enable guys like biggie. Not guys like biggie to help the Jake Thomas’. Yeah he was soo critical to our getting over the hump. Hope he goes into coaching. Such a smart great hard working guy.
  22. Yeah. We really needed to adjust his role and get him some one who could bang in side eating blocks a couple years ago. Let him play wil and drop back more than rush. But we just kept feeding him to OL year after year.
  23. That's flattery for hodge lol. To be fair, I was defending biggie last year till his late injury. That is really when the wheels fell off him. Before that you'd get the, "Hes lost his speed" argument from randos grasping at straws every soo often. It really isnt the case. Biggie is cooked. Maybe with rehab and more specialized role he has a good year in him left. But it is a big risk and one that we shouldn't be taking. Losing 3 grey cups in a row that we were favored in, in progressively worse fashion is reason to grab some pitch forks. Expectations are, and should be higher than that. If we got beat on star power, that'd be one thing. But getting out coached repeatedly in the biggest game of the year is bad.
  24. Its just for pending free agents. You think any of the writers from 3dn read this board? I really don't see it. Especially Abbott.
