  1. That’s the damned truth. yeah he’s been every thing we could hope for. Love the way that kid plays. Idk what’s gonna happen him Logan but if he isn’t healthy soon vaval is gonna have it locked up for as long as he want.
  2. Yep, he's the only one who is doing the tracking that fans get access to. I've seen him on the short-yardage defense set at end, but haven't seen him sub in for regular defensive reps yet.
  3. Yeah, I think we should be looking to work 1 guy a week in for development. That way we don't get shocked by required change when injuries happen, or from too much change up front. Jones for Kyrie if the biggest one needed imo. He is, and he would be great at that. While still giving us the ability to cover a zone and not just have to hug the line.
  4. If you look at things on the surface, it might seem that way. But when you delve a little bit into it, without even watching tape, you see the difference. That being, JJones was playing at an all-star caliber in 23, splitting reps with Wynton McManis. That's when he started 8 games, put up 49 tackles, 13 teams tackles, 7 sacks, and a pick. The injury derailed him the following year. Conversely, Tony Jones was an on-again, off-again teams guy who rotated a bit on bad defences and got a shot here when Biggie went down. The difference in play is night and day. Tony is very good at scraping to the ball and making tackles in the box. He's not good at coverage. Jonathon Jones is good at scraping to the ball, has exceptional range, and is as effective pass rushing as dropping back in cover. Best roster usage for today would be Tony plays Mac in running downs, Jonathon plays Wil. On passing downs, we sub Griffin for Tony, and slide Jonathon into the middle. Building a better team going forward would probably mean Ayers gets snaps over Jones. I don't think Ayers is far behind Jones currently, tbh. I wouldn't expect him to be as reliable immediately, but I also don't think he can progress just by covering kicks. Jonathon Jones is our best Lber. Kyrie is our worst. Tony is situational.
  5. He isn't, though. tony jones is a pure liability in coverage. He's worse than biggie was. really, watch him in isolation on coverage plays. He never gets to the right depth or spot. Also, JJones isn't some rookie. This is his 4th season, he's played 36 games in the cfl and started 18. Tony jones is 2 years older, been in the league 1 year longer, played 34 games and started 17.
  6. Yeah that’s a big one. Kelly, makonzo, and Peyton will have an impact on the ar when healthy. Unless vaval keeps the kr job.
  7. It’s true, but not all players are willing to do that especially long term. id love to see one of the pr/ir guys get in this week. If we keep to a one a week pace we will be in good shape in no time roster wise. I feel like if wj is gonna be suspended, it’ll be quick. The longer the week goes with out it the better chance of a fine imo.
  8. Tempted to say eli. Either be gloriously right or go out first. But instead I’ll say wheatfall.
  9. You can, but he has to agree to go on the IR. If hes not injured you cant make him go on the IR. Which is where he is, but he has to be updated roster wise this week.
  10. if that happens it is entirely your fault. Not really, but still I dont even want to think about it.
  11. I'm a big believer that Masoli is the next blue chip QB coach / OC prospect in the CFL.
  12. Ayers would be a great fit, but Griffin, I like, would be wasted. He's too good at coverage. Broken record, I know, but I would try in practice using Shay/Smith in a rotating spy role. Not only can you use them as a spy, but you can put them in an intermediate zone, or cover hook/curl/flat stuff. That would also allow you to go with a full imp DL.
  13. Same, and I do think it will be a good fit. From all accounts, Jackson and Zach have always had that mentor-mentee relationship. He's an excellent coach, and football mind, with them going so far back Im sure Zach will get the most out of it. Especially if he wants to keep playing past this year. He's going to be a great resource for Wilson and Strevy to.
  14. We did with him and rourke, and maybe a bit faj or vaj. Kyrie was doing it. It was a fairly deep spy though, not right on the line. Thats true, but JY seems to want to blitz more this year. And to be fair, his DB/lb edge packages are reasonably effective.
  15. I'm hoping that he was rusty and out of rhythm due to the messed-up start to the year. He certainly looked better in pre-season. I mean, with Jackson, yeah, it would just be happening. Overall, I think they are getting to a point where they would have to say you can't do this stuff anymore, Zach. We have to re-fit the system with stuff you can do. But I don't think they would be willing to accept that at this point. Keep in mind, 2023 was really the only hot start to the year for Zach as a blue bomber. These are his first game stats as a bomber. 2021. 18/28 217 2 tds, 292 2 tds, 204 2tds 1int. 243 0/0. 245 1/1. 2023. 354 3tds. 293 2 tds. 191 1int. 177 2tds 1int. 2024. 209 1int. 285 1int. 247. 55 1int. So this year's 179 2 and 2 is kind of on brand for him as a start. We really can't wait a month for him to get going though.
  16. I think some of this is caused by his reduced mobility. He doesn't have that escapability gear anymore. Combine that with being one of the most physically battered QBs of his generation, and you get panic in the backfield. He's not late stages matt nichols, but mentally I don't think he has been able to adjust to the fact he cant frequently out run ends any more.
  17. Roster wise, yeah idk. Think it likely depends on injuries and if wj gets suspended.
  18. Guarantee we will be spying ford and playing more edge contain.
  19. Yes, though it’s also important to note strevy was getting the ball out much quicker.
  20. Considering bc has a good talented dl, I think the pass pro was far better than adequate. You just don’t get games with no hits no pressures on a regular basis. Also, some of his worst throws came with time and a clean pocket. I don’t think a better performance by the ok would’ve changed any thing. He chucked ducks with lots of time and open guys. No one’s throwing the ball down field on the regular when the wr is already 40 yards out. You’d need to be throwing 70yards down field to hit a guy in stride with the ball out of your hand at a target 40 yards down field. 3-4 seconds is what you aim for, but’s that’s ball out at 20 ish yards and including stepping up and getting it out. If you watch the advanced feed from tsn, they show the pocket time on the snaps. Zach had lots of 3-4 second pockets, and wasn’t seeing pressure in less than 2.5.
  21. Yep, pretty interesting story behind the meaning of his surname too. Snafu. It’d be funny if it wasn’t soo damn sad for the league.
  22. Zach is like an old race horse. He can still give er (we hope) but he’s easily spooked. I wonder if that’s why we stopped the jet motion last year. Zach doesn’t like the pocket to move.
  23. I’d argue Zach has more wear on him than those guys. But he’s also had more career Collapses and come backs than all those guys combined. I’m certain he has some throwing arm/hand stuff that isn’t healing. Zach had a great arm at his best. He was really reliant on his zip and ability to drop a rainbow over the defence to compensate for his struggles to run the short passing game. He hit incredible windows in the past with great frequency. He wasn’t bishop flicking his wrists from his knees and sending it 70 yards down field, but his arm was damn good. Khari was similar, but he lost the touch on the ball, and he could always hit the short game. Either zach is rusty and still adjusting, or he’s gonna need to completely revamp his game to be more of a cerebral field general.
  24. I think long term vanterpool would be better at rt and Randolph at LT. But yeah, he’s been a project to convert to tackle. Randolph played basically tackle as the 6th ol in college a lot. Vanterpool was a career guard. Didn’t give up a sack for like a year and a half, didn’t take a penalty in his last year. Pretty wild. Vanterpool is still naturally a guard but has the mobility to end up a rt. And he’s very good in pass protection at guard.
  25. Sounds like a Batman villain the way he says it
