  1. It will hurt a bit but aside from this season (when they literally had to fill the entire league with new players) the number of players entering the AAF and sticking there will be relatively low compared with how many players NFL teams cut in training camp each year. When you think of it how many QB's does the CFL take off the available market each season? Maybe 5 qb's who come up here and stick on the roster? CFL teams either pass on entirely or cut kinds of talent and the AAF will be no different. The cfl famously passed on Kurt Warner for example. Except for a select few players who actually make one of these pro leagues there won't be much of a decrease in the available talent. For example, if you're you've identified a player who you'd like to sign in November he might want to give the AAF a try. But if he fails to make the roster that same player will most certainly be interested in the CFL come February or March. There are certain qualities that separate a talented player from a guy who actually makes it in the CFL and I don't think those same qualities will necessarily translate to them having an impact in the AAF. To me it's really a crap shoot. You bring a bunch of talent to CFL camp and its difficult to predict which players will stick and which will not. I don't expect that the level of training camp talent brought in will be largely affected by the AAF.
  2. This is why you stockpile them and sign free agent Canadians when you have the chance.
  3. Does anyone know what happened to Mark Chapman? I don't see him on the Stallions roster.
  4. https://edmontonsun.com/sports/football/cfl/edmonton-eskimos/edmonton-eskimos-locker-room-isnt-the-only-place-mike-reilly-would-be-missed Reports are starting to emerge that Reilly is indeed BC bound.
  5. This is bad television.
  6. He's not worth the same amount of money but teams are desperate so he should get a big payout. Certainly an upgrade over what sask had last season.
  7. The best part about picking up Jefferson if it happens is to avoid Nichols having to face him again!
  8. I though Harris took 175k??
  9. Yeah that would make a lot more sense. I just don't see how he makes more as a police officer than in the CFL right now. Based on Google after 3 years a police officer will make 86k. Id be inclined to think that he would make in the 180k range in the CFL this season if he continued playing.
  10. Im kind of surprised this if this was a financial decision. The guy played 3 years for peanuts compared to what he could get in the open market this season in the CFL. Just seems strange unless its health related.
  11. Then we are looking at Gray and Couture/Speller starting and we have boat loads of money to target receivers and other areas of need. Of coarse, we draft an offensive lineman in the first round. Maybe trade up to get a guy who can factor in immediately.
  12. This is why you keep drafting Canadian offensive lineman. We really need Chung back now. Winnipeg will have plenty of options in terms of finding a replacement on roster already. I would imagine Couture would be a candidate as well as somebody else moving over to center like Nuefeld for example. As well Cody Speller might factor into the conversation as well. I imagine we draft a lineman again with one of our first round picks.
  13. The problem is becoming not enough variety. How many times can please get excited for a Calgary vs Ontario team narrative? Calgarians are more and more taking a win for granted and not caring so much to watch the game itself during Flames season. If a team that isn't used to being there in the West was in I think you would have seen much higher ratings. These days there's so much more competition for peoples TV time. There's an over abundance of great TV shows resulting from the streaming services fighting over the subscription dollars, the video game industry is still setting records, American News never has a dull moment, and Canadian NHL teams are performing.
  14. If anything the league has been moving more towards contracts mattering and not going on the opposite direction. There was a situation with Noel Thorpe a couple years back where he was forced to return to Montreal or receive compensation. If memory serves me correct. Riders are just upset to not be receiving special treatment and not being able to buy the most expensive football ops in the league anymore. I’m pretty much over it.
  15. If Goosen and Chung are back I think we have a real opportunity to go with 4 non imports on the offensive line. They should let Gray settle in a bit and wait for an injury to Hardrick or Bryant and then try it out. I’d prefer for this season to give Gray opportunities at guard and play Neufeld at Tackle if such an opportunity arrives. But long term I think it will be Gray.
  16. Still holding out hope that we end up signing them all and trading Nuefeld.
  17. I understand the value of a good offensive line. I just this Winnipeg would still have the best offensive line in the league even if they lost one of Goosen and Chung.
  18. He’d be a very tradable asset.
  19. Typically I would be in agreement with you but its really hard right now with the amazing depth this team has on the offensive line. I don't think we really have a ratio breaker that can fill in for Loffler for 18 games without there being a noticeable downgrade or end up changing the ratio. If Chung signs somewhere else i feel like Geoff Gray could step right in there and offer more than Chung did his first year in the CFL. If both Goosen and Chung come back it kind of creates a logjam with all the guys we currently have under contract.
  20. Lapo wouldn't likely be human if he didn't feel anything after receiving a limitation. He'll get over it and be a professional. He was really upset after the riders had 13 men on the field in the Grey Cup but he got over that too. He comes off as being a quiet guy but i think he's got some passion.
  21. Bring on the corresponding cap saving cuts!
  22. The guy is a jerk.. However... He did the bombers a huge favor. Perhaps without having his salary freed up it would have been spent elsewhere and we wouldn't have been able to sign and later extend Bighill. Had he not done what he did Steveler would have a whole lot less experience now than he has and I would argue he helped the team more last season than Durant would have or an alternative to Durant like Kevin Glenn would have. It really worked out well for the Bombers and poorly for Durant lol
  23. I'm not surprised to see that Reinebold tweets in all-caps.
  24. Its just that father time remains undefeated.. Hoping Randle signs in the east though as he will be highly motivated. We need cash for offensive line, Loffler, Bighill, and a receiver. This team must take the next step next season. Looking forward to grounding and pounding versus the stamps with no Singleton or Thurman next season.
  25. Man BC is foolish!
