Can't imagine Josh Johnson isn't the player taken out. Can't imagine we remove Whitehead or another Canadian. -

Its hard to see much of a path for Woods. You need to register stats to get enough attention to receive votes and he's yet to register a sack. Its just hard to imagine a guy who average 1 tackle and 0.0 sacks per game winning any awards. Adams would have more of an opportunity especially if he continues to pick up sacks in a season where there is no runaway sacks leader. He could potentially lead the league in sacks or come close to it in the same way that Wilson could lead the league or come close to the league lead in receiving yards. If Adams ends up with 8 or 9 sacks and Wilson ends up with 6 touchdown and 1003 yards or something like that then I think there would be a lot of debate as to who deserved the ROY nomination. There's this sentiment that Wilson might just get over 1000 yards. However, despite struggling in his first 5 games to gain much traction he's actually on a pace for 1150 yards right now. Its not impossible that his last 9 games look more like his past 4 games and he ends up closer to 1300 yards or so. -

My sense is that most have already decided to cast their MOP and MOC vote for Tre Ford. 🤣 -

Barring something majorly changing Wilson will end up our ROY. Doesn't mean that there isn't a long list of honorable mentions. Might very well be that Wilson gains serious traction for being the league's top rookie. Defensive player of the year - Ford Top Canadian - BO MOP - BO/Wilson Special Teams: Castillo -

Paul Friesen from the Winnipeg Sun. ”The next time the Bombers take to the practice field, a familiar face should be back in the lineup: that of star receiver Kenny Lawler.” -
Looks like Canada’s men’s basketball silver metal hopes will largely come down to luck of the draw. Because Germany had a weak group they were able to rack up a huge point differential and will end up with the 1st or second seed along with the USA. So those two teams can’t end up in the same side of the playoff bracket. The draw in Canada’s group will determine if they end up in the USA or Germany side of the bracket.

Is there an explanation why BC didn't attempt that 48 yard field goal and went for a fake instead? I'm not convinced just gambling with Vaj out of the shutgun wouldn't have had a similar odds to success then trying something like that against a Mike O'Shea coached team.
-
It’s just that I felt like we did a pretty dang good job in one on one coverage situations. Much better than we did in the grey cup. Clearly the defensive coaching has improved as well. But we had lack of depth and injuries in that game as well. The actual coverage was poor.
-
Is it a gameplan or is it the Ford/Bonds factor.
-
I expect more 60 plus yard field goal attempts unless the punting situation improves.

Reminds me of this...

The 4 first down performance for BC was their lowest total in franchise history.

Id be tapping the breaks on Bailey after the performance of Lucky. Where do we play Bailey when everyone is healthy? ------------------------------- We're now in the positive on points for and against for the season.

Is anyone more happy than Vernon Adams right now that Rourke found nfl work today?

I just feel like we see a lot of Jefferson going up against the starting left tackle of opposing teams. Might just be a selective memory. -

I have the same analysis of Nuefeld as wbbfan. After the game the coach was asked point blank if it was injury or performance related and he said "we'll see"... Why the heck didn't he say he was injured if that was the case. I think he's basically been cut in the nicest possible way. He avoids embarrassment and still gets paid until the end of the season while the team frees up some cap space as if he was cut. I wonder if we do the same for Bighill all of next season to avoid the cap hit of his guaranteed money? -

PFF on the argos offensive line last week. • Left tackle Isiah Cage had a stellar week against the Blue Bombers last week. His 84.4 run-blocking grade was the fourth-highest single-week mark of any offensive lineman in the CFL this season. • The usually uber-reliable Dejon Allen had by far his worst pass-blocking game of the season. Coming into the week, he had not earned a pass-blocking game grade below 77.0. He finished with a 28.4 mark in Week 8. • The left side of the offensive line played solidly in pass protection. Cage (75.5), Hunter (70.3) and Nicastro (78.2) earned 70.0-plus pass-blocking grades on 29 snaps. If i'm reading this correctly Hubert/Garbutt dominated their guy who underperformed his typical level whereas Thomas and Jefferson were dominated. Its somewhat not surprising that Jefferson and Garbutt switched ends on the depth chart. I'm hoping that the easier assignments will have squeeze a little bit more juice out of Jefferson. ---------------------------- I think PFF does a very reasonable job. Its impossible for anyone outside their own team to grade 100% accurately because other teams or PFF ect need to predict what a player's assignment was. -

From PFF this week. 8. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (No Change) LT Stanley Bryant LG Liam Dobson C Chris Kolankowski RG Asotui Eli RT Eric Lofton • The Blue Bombers' pass-blocking struggles continued. This unit ranked as the worst pass-blocking group of Week 8, earning a 40.3 pass-blocking grade. The pair of right guards was the main culprit for the poor grade. Neufeld (5.5) started but was replaced in the third quarter by Eli (18.2), who did not perform much better. • Right tackle Eric Lofton had his best game of the season. He finished with a 73.6 overall grade, a 60.1 pass-blocking grade and a 79.2 run-blocking grade, making him the third highest-graded run-blocking offensive lineman of the week. -

If our passrush is suspect, our SAM is suspect and our safety is suspect. I just don't know how we're ever getting the offense off the field. Opposing teams aren't stupid and keep in mind we haven't even played the two dumbest teams yet. I agree. So we'll probably spend 3 weeks dealing with the paperwork and will have him acclimated and ready to play by the time we are eliminated from playoff contention. -

Let's face it. We're wasting our time worrying about the defensive starters at this point. We need to fix the offence and fast. -

Because he's a true rookie who's shouldn't even have been starting. He should have spent a year on the practice roster if we weren't in a desperate situation due to a bad recruiting class last season. It just seems clear to me that he is a 24 year old rookie who was a bit intimidated early on and eventually he made a couple of plays and now he has more confidence. He's still very raw. But the fact is that he's by far the best option we have right now in the receiving core. I'm expecting him to make some more typical rookie receiver mistakes though. They aren't all Schoen's. Most of the receivers who look polished their first year in the CFL are older, have more pro experience, or have 2 cfl camps under their belt and a year on a practice roster. You guys can refute that being a raw rookie and getting their feet wet matters. I just can't see how there's any confusion on why I'm giving him a bit of a pass on the earlier games. -

We've consistently opted for the cheaper internal option to retain on the offensive line rather than making sure we retained the best option. Didn't work out well with Couture vs Kolo but it worked out great in Jones vs Hardrick. Wishing we still had Dejarlais, Couture, and Chung right now. We can recover. I think Dobsen, Eli, and Wallace end up being pretty good and with the season we're having we should get a pretty high pick this year in the first round and two second round picks again. -

Hopefully a significantly better plan than Toronto has.
