  1. In away that's too bad, because I thought we should wear them on the road against Toronto. Hilarity would ensue and afterwards the Bombers could pile them all up at midfield at the Rogers Center and light them on fire. There would be rich symbolism in that.
  2. This is just such a dumb way to look at it. You don't just start cutting players out of spite. Injuries or not he's our best receiver and cutting him makes the team worse. The scouting staff has been incapable of bringing in a good receiver so far and who knows what's available in free agency. Can't cut Moore until we have a star receiver to replace him. With all due respect, if you're paying a player more than he's worth, that's dumb. If we're going to improve as a team we have to be smarter than this. Moore has not produced for us going on two seasons now (1 TD) and had just one good year with BC before that. That's on Walters and I don't care if it's because of injury, trying too hard, or because he forgot to sacrifice a chicken in his basement. Too much money for a non-productive player. Yea, I really don't understand why Walters, before he signs someone for big money, doesn't take a moment and look into the future to see if that player is going to have a good season or two or not. It's almost like he's hiring people on past performance that then just hoping that they'll continue to perform. That really doesn't sound too professional to me. Come on Walters, you should be better than that.
  3. You know, there's nothing wrong with wanting to make sure that you're making the right decision. It's quite another thing to create this whole dog and pony show. You want to think things through, wait a bit and see if the NFL is going to come calling? Fine. Go home and read through the offers, do the negotiations quietly and when you've reached your decision, let us all know. Until then, the magical mystery tour is nothing more than farce.
  4. Or Not But just get on with it already...
  5. My only concern with this kid is his "I'm just here for a cup of coffee until I can get back to the big show" vibe. Of course that might just be his agent talking but in any case, I'm thinking that if he or his agent believes that he's going to just walk in and begin to dominate, well, then there's another US based agent/player who's about to get a rude awakening when it comes to the skill level in the CFL. I'm still baffled by how so called knowledgeable US football people can be so completely ignorant when it comes to this league, especially when more and more CFL'ers move successfully to the NFL and how many "can't miss" US college prospects wash out here. Does young Mr. Boyd have what it takes? As confident as he sounds, and as excited as some here seem to be by this signing, I'm going to adopt a wait and see attitude on whether or not we are seeing the second coming of Warren Moon, because the odds are... we ain't
  6. Personally, I don't give a flying rat's bum either way.
  7. I expect we'll be going back to royal blue, but I'd be very surprised to see the classic jersey back because ya gotta sell new stuff and lots of us already have the royal blue one in the closet.
  8. ...this is how the cfl has been for how many seasons? Nope the CFL is the only league in the world with bad teams. Every other league only has good teams. The Cleveland Browns say HELLO! Now that Kevin Costner is their GM, they are going to be just fine. I hear he's a wizard at manipulating the draft.
  9. You really can't blame Brohm for being Brohm but you can certainly question the football acumen of the brain trust that thought he'd be a good guy to have around in case our #1 QB went down, because all Brohm jokes aside, he ain't a good #2.
  10. Almost like a guy named Crompton who was 4th on the depth chart and went on to become a 7-1 starter for another team..... what team did he play for before he joined the Als?? Almost like a guy named Crompton who was 4th on the depth chart and went on to become a 7-1 starter for another team..... what team did he play for before he joined the Als?? Really an apples to oranges comparison. Crompton was not a known quantity in the league, so it's not quite the same thing. Nichols has been in the league for 6 years, every GM knows him and yet we got him for next to nothing. Now, of course, I'm pleased that he is here and I hope he plays well, but I really don't see him becoming the starter that lots of teams are suddenly interested in considering if they really thought he was that good, he'd have been picked up much earlier.
  11. Remember, Nichols has been in the league for more than a few years now. So that being the case, how likely is it that he goes from a guy who ended up 3rd on the Eskimo's depth chart and expendable to a legitimate starter inside 1 year. The short answer is: he doesn't
  12. Bear in mind that Nichols is a guy that has suffered a few serious injuries in his career, so that night make teams a bit gun shy about looking at him as their starter. Also, he might just decide that he actually likes it in Winnipeg (a strange thought, I know) and be willing to sign an extension here.
  13. You do realize that you grip the ball differently depending on whether you are preparing to throw or not right? He was looking down field preparing to throw when he got hit hard from behind. The majority of the time, he's going to drop the ball, just like any other QB who doesn't have a ginormous hand and/or kung-fu grip. So the fault of that one is the guy who missed the block allowing the defender to hit the QB on the blindside. It is not really something you can "coach-up" because he's got to hold the ball that way in order to throw it. It's on the O line to protect him. It's not Nichols fault.
  14. 2.. both of his fumbles. He get's blindsided by a guy coming through on a missed block and you think that's on him? Ok then, I guess. The fumble where he was tackled running downfield, that one, for sure is his. You gotta hang on to the ball better when you stop being a QB and start being a RB, no question.
  15. Someone needs to explain that auto ignore function to me. Please? Click on the persons profile then click ignore. Can't do it with moderators, but easy to ignore a specific persons posts whenever u see their name. Exact same as ignore function Blessing upon you!
  16. No one is saying, as far as I can tell, that he's our saviour. Rather he seems to be a more than servicable backup QB. We'll get to see more of him in the coming weeks so we'll be better able to make that determination, but it certainly looks promising. And seriously, you're going to judge his abilities based off of the first half of the first game he's played for us? With all of four practices? Of the three turnovers, I'd put one, and only one, on him. Some people seem to have an unrealistic opinion of how long it takes to fit into a new system, a fear of giving credit where credit is due, or both.

  18. I don't think the running game worked out as well as planned but at least they stuck with the run tonight throughout the game so that is encouraging. On second thought that probably had more to do with never being behind by more than 7. The running game doesn't have to chew up a bunch of yards in order to be effective. They used it enough that the Rider D had to be ready for it on any given play and that helped keep them a bit off balance. At the same time, I'm not overly pumped about our running backs at the moment so hopefully Walters can find us a top drawer model in the NFL cast offs.
  19. This is what I think. O'Shea wants to be the nice guy, but if it comes down to someone like MB threatening his job, I'm not sure mike's all that nice anymore
  20. Brings back the never ending question, is it Brohm or Marcel? Can't it be both?
  21. Glad to see you've found your happy place... finally
  22. He utilized the run a lot more effectively and there were even a few shovel/screen passes too. i think it's likely that with the win tonight he's made sure that, baring a complete breakdown in the O, he's here for the rest of the season.
  23. Oh, and for all of you (and you know who you are) who were predicting a blow out by Saskatchewan, remember that the next time you want to make your bold proclamations of doom and maybe, just skip it.
  24. Absolutely horrid 1st half except for our D, who kept us in the game. I was pleased to see that we actually seemed to make some adjustments at the half and the team came out stronger in the third. Not great, but better. Nichols played a pretty solid game for only having 4 practices, so it was fortunate that we were playing against a less than stellar D as it gave him a chance to get some sort of rhythm going. They clearly aren't world beaters yet, but at the same time, with an offence that can actually move the ball (1st half excluded) we might just surprise a few people.
  25. I gotta say that I'm enjoying my time here but there are now a few newish posters that seem to have an agenda that is making it a lot less enjoyable. I can understand that people are upset over the season thus far. I'm no positron, believe me. I certainly wasn't over on TEP and in fact, I left there because of a few insanely RAH RAH types that saw everything the team did as the greatest thing that would ever happen in the history of football and the human race, and seemed to be able to post and do whatever they pleased, while we who responded to them were policed. I'm beginning to see the same thing here, but in reverse: here it's becoming "everything and everyone connected to the Bombers sucks at all times." The latest posts concerning Muamba and how if Walters doesn't sign him then this is the absolute proof that Walters is the worst GM in history is more than a little over the top. Now, being 3-6 can do that but at the same time, it's my opinion that a few people on this board need to step away from the ledge and calm the hell down because after all, we could be 1-8 right now.
