Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

 

Anyone else into this?

 

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

 

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

 

House of Cards was tremendous.

 

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

 

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

 

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

Hey I love the hell out of this show this is good news, I kind of wonder what kind of costumes they'll do (the guessing is all part of the fun) but if that virus isn't gone by the time the show starts filming how will they pull this off?

yeah even I'm pretty sure the audience was choreographed considering their hand gestures when cheering for their favourites

Great news if true.   The fact he didn’t appear in the new trilogy was absurd.

well I guess someone out there said if CBS is bringing back their sunday night movies then ABC should bring back the wonderful world of disney, I wonder if they will make a new opening to incorporate the animated films, the MCU, star wars, Pixar, and (to a lesser extent) the muppets. Yeah I know one of the other openers did include Pixar, but alot has changed since the last time they did these (back then they normally just did these just so they could promote whatever was coming to theaters)

One of the worst casted series i've seen. Thankfully the kill rate of characters is high.

I watched the entire series & I actually liked it although the crew for the most part has no one worth becoming invested in as a viewer. They are a bunch of social misfits who think a 40 year old Captain is too old, untrustworthy & show little if no loyalty to her (Katie Sackhoff). Not a group I'd think would be able to prevent the human race from being enslaved. The series never went into how these 20 somethings were picked for the mission. To me, they are all losers &  that was the problem with the series. The crew itself.  It made no sense.

The female crew member who yelled & constantly swore was a welcome relief when she died; 

Meanwhile another sci fi series The First starring Sean Penn about a group of astronauts in training to go to Mars was a much better & superior series. Hulu cancelled it after 8 episodes. I saw all 8 as well. Go figure.

I stuck with it & liked it. The last scene in Episode 8 was the 5 astronauts on the launch pad so I think Season 2 would have been more sci fi than  the melodrama with Tom Haggerty's daughter.  Her character was just s damned annoying. Just a question, is that why you weren't into that series? Too much  melodrama & not enough action? If they gave a second chance to Another Life then The First deserved the same fate.

Im not really a fan of Latifah but Chris Noth is also in it and he's always great.  I cant believe they havent brought him back to Law & Order yet.

Looks like the only reason CBS hasn't renewed Blue Bloods is because Tom Selleck wants a 2 year deal & not just one.  Both sides are in contract negotiations.

Selleck has been stricken with a severe case of osteoarthritis and has very limited mobility as a result. If he is given a two year guaranteed contract, he's got financial security.

It was renewed for season 11. Selleck just wanted a guaranteed 12th.

Hell, I can relate to that. New knee & all for me.  Thankfully, the pain is now gone BUT I STILL MOVE SLOW. Lol! Apparently, some days it's so bad Tom Selleck needs a stunt double to show Frank Reagan getting out of his limo. Selleck is a pro. he's never missed a day of shooting.

Well, he does portray a cop, so missing a shooting would be a no-no.
