Steve Morley to Centre?

With the loss of Justin Sorensen yesterday, Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun is reporting that the Bombers are looking at moving Steve Morley to centre this season.  Thoughts on whether he would be an upgrade over Sorensen?

If this were to occur, and assuming we draft Lavertu, I'd see Lavertu starting mid-season, or at the latest in 2015.

Very different.  First off, the QB-centre exchange is the most important skill in football.  You can't do anything without it.  You can't just plug anyone in at centre and expect them to be able to ge

  • I actually believe that centre is the less physically demanding position. As long as a guy can snap and has a brain in his head should be able to play centre.

I wonder if Kyle is able to finagle a move up the ladder if he sees Goosen is still available? He's got a few later round picks to dangle, plus Cauchy...

Why would he need to move up from 2nd overall to get Goosen?

Wouldn't it be nice to get both Lavertu and Goossen? Goossen can play all 3 spots on the OL. If I'm Walters, I might trade our 1st rounder in 2015 for one in 2014 to get these 2, just to get a head start on the OL rebuild.

Gagne-Marcoux had recurring back and shoulder injuries and retired last off-season.

I meant we take Lavertu with the second overall, then trade up to get Goosen.

Why should we try to draft them both?

Why not, Jacquie? OL is a trouble spot for us.  No doubt one of them can play another position. However, I doubt we could do that. We have no 2nd round pick & we aren't deep anywhere enough where we could package up a starter for another first round pick. Then, it would become counter productive or addition by subtraction.

Would Goosen project to be a good Guard in the CFL though?

Would converting either of them be a good idea given the value of a good centre?
