  • Man, that's sad...one of the all time great power forwards. You never realized just how good he was until he put on the Maple Leaf, and then he was an elite level superstar...

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that: https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-rumors-october-9-2018/

While people have been watching the status of goaltender Steve Mason, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet is reporting that Mason is believed to have turned down an offer from the Carolina Hurricanes and is contemplating retirement instead. Concussions and knee issues have him doubtful about his status in the NHL.

Concussions are no good - and Mason seems to realize that. Moreover, I highly doubt the Penguins would want to sign another goalie with concussion issues.

Sports fans gonna have to get used to this. Couple concussions and millions in the bank makes retiring a lil easier.

Not bad punishment, but I would like to see him stay out as long as Pettersson’s concussion keeps him out. Min. 2 games.

Don't think the Canes can carry Mrazek, Darling and McElhinney for very long... I'd wait them out

On the Illegal Curve show they were talking about how Petan is in the same spot as Dano and not likely to be sent down for fear of being picked up on waivers :)
