The commentators noted that the Argos db's had a lot of new imports. Could the field size/cfl rules screwed them up a bit?

hey... why you stealing the phrase from my avatar ?
jk
You know I did not intentionally do that but maybe it planted the idea.... Nice Avatar

His game is new to you guys but take it from a Buffalo fan... That was Vintage Drew Willy!
Smart decisions, great touch passes, and composure under pressure. I've seen drew win games and I have seen him lose game but I've never seen him panic or look lost in a situation.

Mayor Sam Katz should be grateful that Drew Willy is an import. After last nights performance many a Blue Bomber fan might start a write in campaign aimed at making their new starting quarterback the Mayor of Winnipeg. Drew Willy's 308 yard and four touchdowns gave the Bombers an opening night victory over the defending Eastern Division champion Toronto Argonauts.
Why would Sam Katz care? He's not running for Mayor in October.
Give this Yankee a break
What's the difference between Yankee and a "Damn Yankee"?

Can that be renamed a lack of depth chart?
Why? 0' is a depth...

I was more focued on the offense than the defense in the preseason (all the motion cathes the eye)..
Do the Blue Bombers run a Hybrid defense?

Looking forward to seeing a full game of Willy and what he can do for you guys. I am hoping to see you snap the two season playoff drought but I also have some rooting interest in Toronto (not as much as I do for the Bombers)

Toronto (Natey Adjei) at Winnipeg (Drew Willy)
Former UB Receiver Natey Adjei and the Toronto Argonauts will travel to the middle of Canada to take on Drew Willy on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
It's a Small World League
With just 9 teams in the CFL there is bound to be a lot of situations where teams and players are connected through numerous avenues. The Toronto and Winnipeg game is no different.
The Argos won the CFL Eastern Division last season but were ousted from the playoffs by Hamilton. The Tiger cats went on to the Grey Cup where they were defeated by Saskatchewan. The Rough riders backup quarterback was none other than Drew Willy.
The Blue Bombers won just three games last season, following a six win season in 2012. The triggered a coaching change that saw Winnipeg hire Mike O'Shea away from Toronto, where he was a special teams coach. Not too long after the Bombers dealt for Drew Willy who was immediately named the starting pivot (quarterback) by O'Shea.
Natey Adjei was drafted by Toronto in the third round while Mike O'Shea was still coaching special teams for the Argos.
This season he looked solid during camp and the preseason. Adjei caught six passes for 62 yards when Toronto and Winnipeg played an exhibition game two weeks ago. He is now a backup slot back with the Argos. -

Dang.... One less Bull to root for...
I was hoping Moseley would stick because he can play several different positions and as an international thats a good thing to have.

Willie Mosesly played MIddle Linebacker in College
http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/5/20/5732474/willie-moseley-linebacker-winnipeg-bluebombers
Willie Moseley came to Buffalo as an All-District defensive end who, was slated by Turner Gill to play that postilion on UB's then 4-3 defensive set. In 2009, after one year as a red shirt, Moseley played in a hand full of games as a defensive end racking up three tackles, including one for a loss.
Then came the staff changes of 2010. The new staff dumped the old 4-3 defense and brought in their hybrid 3-4 defense. To help fill in at linebacker the coaches took the Athletic Moseley off the line and moved him to the outside linebacker spot. During 2010 he was parked right behind Khalil Mack. And that's kind of the way things stayed for a while.
Going into 2012 it looked as if Moseley would once again be depth behind Khalil Mack but once again Willie had an impressive spring. He got noticed by the staff and UB still had depth issues related to the scheme change. The immediate need was at inside linebacker. Moseley would be a starter but in the middle of a 3-4 defense.
I don't know whay he measures up to by CFL standards but one of Willies strenghts at Buffalo was moving around the defense to help with depth or production wherever we needed it..
Since you brought him up ... what was the book on Moseley in college? He seems to move well on the big field but the one thing I've been really underwhelmed with is his tackling. For a guy that size, he's sure had a hard time wrapping guys up.
Really fast guy, good range of motion but not the best tackler in the world. He is a hard hitter who I have seen try to hist his way through a tackle rather than wrap up.
It was hard for him in College because he kept getting moved around, and then he got stuck behind Khalil Mack.

Willy had the good fortune to be backup to a very good quarterback in Sask with lots of opportunity to learn from a quarterback who an both pass and scramble. Being part of a championship team doesn't hurt, either. He seems to have a high ceiling plus smarts.
Keep in mind he was also Payton Mannings backup at one time

Welcome UB! Are you in Buffalo or are you in Winnipeg?
Minnesota... The American Version of Manitoba
I might try to sneak up for a game this year if I can get the wife to give me a weekend to make the drive up and back..

Glad you signed up here.
Our OL is a big question mark. There is promise with it in that we have a highly touted prospect (Goossen) being groomed and the acquisition of Patrick Neufeld seems to be the solution for now at RT but our interior has struggled.
It'll be up and down to start the year, but Bob Wylie will definitely lead them to a marked improvement as the year goes on.
I noticed that SSK lost Durant and Willy... Is that normal for so much turnover on a Grey Cup team?
Durant is still on the team. They lost Kory Sheets and Weston Dressler.
Ohh I mesread another teams roster...
-
We barely have enough Canadians to fill a roster right now, I figured they would focus on cutting internationals at this point. Seems odd to cut Kowalczuk right now... if we lose a single interior lineman to injury then we don't really have anyone to step in. Unless they feel comfortable putting Quinn Everett in the lineup already.
I suspect you may see some of the guys cut by other teams end up Blue Bombers.

I was happy to see some of the other threads here pointing out that despite the 0-2 record there is hope this season. I really enjoyed watching the CFL games, first ones I have watched beginning to end... I have seen a lot of drew willy football over the years and while his arm strength has improved a bit he is still the same QB who threw for UB.
What I loved about him at UB was how fast he got through his reads, his solid decision making, and the touch he could put on a pass. It's why he was a first year starter at UB and the only Buffalo QB to win his division (twice) and the conference (once).
In the first game his touch was there but he was not getting through the reads too quickly. In the second his reads of coverage were far better but he still seemed to struggle picking up some of the pass rush packages that were thrown at him. At least twice he should have went right to a check down receiver when the pressure came.
The drops also hurt the numbers but you guys have a pretty intelligent fan base so I have seen that commented on. It's not going to kill the perception of Willy but anything that makes the offense look less effective ends up in the Quarterbacks lap.
My question is your o-line.

The Mid American Conference is in the later stages of redoing their contract with ESPN. I know that one stickign point between the two is the value of games on ESPN3 and the compensation provided.
