  1. wasn't a cheap shot though - it was Collaro's fault all the way. I was at the game. The first time Collaros fooled Odell - so that time Odell was making a beeline for him. For whatever reason, Collaros stopped, set, and threw the ball even though Willis was coming at him hard. It's not like Zack was blind sided by the hit. He may have thought Willis would let up on him, but he was pissed for being made a fool last time. If Zack was smart, he would have faked the pass and moved out of the way. What do you want Odell to do? Hit wasn't late either. To me, it was a dumb play by Collaros.

  2. Last year our O line was way below average (2nd worst in the league IMHO).  As others have said sacks isn't the only indicator.  For example, we gave up 4 sacks in the Montreal game, yet Willy was taking a beating and having to throw very quickly to get the ball off.  The O line didn't have a good game at all, but the sack number wasn't all that bad.  Replace Willy with Hall, and the number of sacks would go up dramatically, yet the O line work would be the same.

I'd say our O line's in the middle of the pack this year now that Greaves is hurt.

I'd argue that a little bit (Hall for Willy). Last year, I think we were 'middle' of the pack because the defense can't get sacks if you're not on the field. I think we led the league in two and outs, and lowest time of possession, hence why the sack total was 'middle' of the pack. If we had more first downs, more opportunities for sacks lol. Just a thought as I can't really quantify that. Just saying

  3.

Edmonton should win this game, you guys don't get it - Reilly hasn't played great yet

I would say that you don't get it. You can count the amount of "great" games Reilly has had in his career on one hand so far. He is a consistently very average QB who has a great game few and far between. We may not win, but more than likely it will not be because of Mike Reilly.

What I mean is Reilly hasn't been good at all. That's what's scaring me. The Defense has been great here. Juran is right, Eskies should have lost to Hamilton, and did get lucky against B.C. Defense won the first two games (though I'll argue it was a bad throw by Masoli - his guy was WIDE open in the end zone all he had to do was lob it up for him, instead he threw it on a line and the eskie player deflected it just enough).

My point is if Reilly has a good game, coupled with that defense, Eskies will win. It should be interesting because our defense starts slow, and Reilly and his offense are even slower starters (2 points against Ottawa in first half and they were booed off the field).

This will be an interesting game - if Reilly wakes up eskies win. If the eskies start slow again, they won't get the drop on the Wpg D in the second half, bombers should win then. That's all I'm saying - just watch for Reilly's start.

  4. Edmonton should win this game, you guys don't get it - Reilly hasn't played great yet, their Defense is literally winning the games for them. If Reilly starts playing like he can, they'll be blowing teams out (well, they kinda blew out Ottawa in the second half).

I think Winnipeg's weaknesses will be really exposed but...... O'Shea knows Jones too. Expect some trick plays by us to keep the score close, but we'll still get beat.

  5. Isn't it refreshing to actually be fans of a team that has a promising young qb playing for us. I include the Bombers, Calgary & Edmonton in that category. Ottawa is in a world of trouble losing with a 39 year old veteran tied up to a long term & the most expensive contract in the CFL with no true backup waiting in the wings. For once, we've actually got something going for us.

You can say that again. This is why I was SOOOOOO opposed to, when losing out on Collaros, the bombers went after Burris. A few folks here for some strange reason wanted him and were disappointed when he chose Ottawa. I did the happy dance. I still maintain (for me) Zack was my first choice but Willy was my (distant) Second and TBH I'd have rather have had Max Hall back then Hank. Never like him Hank.

And poor Ottawa signed him for three years was it? Luckily for them no contracts are guaranteed. Hank sure looked his age here on Friday night at times.

  6. Wow - last move I thought we would make... but I sure like Kromah.

    Kromah-Wild-Sears would be killer

Makes me believe Kuale is injured

@BobIrvingCJOB: Bombers acquire l .b. Abraham Kromah from Hamilton for futures. Strictly a depth move.

I have never heard of this guy in my life...

I'm with Noeller - Floyd - I hope you have a really good job, because I never heard of this guy either yet you seem to know him like we know Ricky Ray lol. You have a fantastic memory

  7. I agree with all your points Nate - great analysis. I'm wondering why Cotton can't return punts though? Is it because he doesn't understand the rules enough? Also, I"m worried about Edmonton. The Bombers, IMO, are regressing every week, Edmonton is getting stronger. If Reilly starts clicking (he hasn't yet) but if he does, and Edmonton, right now, has the best defense in the league, period - not only can Edmonton beat us, they can blow us out.

Want to know why that scares me? Cause on the 24th (next Eskimo home game) I'm going to get it from all sides if that happens. Bombers gotta right the ship fast.

Now, saying all this, I just want to add one more thing. I love this. This is great. Complaining about a 3 - 0 team that could fall to 3 - 1 next week. So much nicer than wondering if the bombers would still be in the game after the first quarter. Talking about which QB would start (and get pulled) first, etc. etc. etc. So much nicer to have a football team again :)

  8. Yes, but I'm pissed off. I mean, c'mon, back to back games, and again, Edmonton on the same day. That means I'll miss the second half (I'll PVR it but regardless one way or another I'll hear the final score in the game). Why doesn't the CFL look out for ME? I mean, it is all about me, isn't it? Wpg games (home or away) should be not be scheduled the same day as Eskimo games. :(

  9. If Cotton looks good at RB and returning I wonder how much longer Aaron Woods and Will Ford stick around...

Well, here in Edmonton, we (they) got nothing at running back. Starting the White this week, and though not 'officially' released Thomas, the idiot they had in there, is not listed anywhere.

My guess, if White doesn't do anything, Will Ford (not Cotton) could be here soon. But I doubt the Eskies trade for Ford, if Cotton shows well I'm sure the bombers will release Ford and I'd bet Edmonton would have him signed in as little as 48 hours provided he can pass a physical.

edit: my mistake - just saw they have Thomas on the practice roster for now - most likely until they can find someone to replace him.

  10. Well, good to know most of you are picking Edmonton - gives me a fighting chance since I'm going with Ottawa (Burris tends to play well in Commonwealth), and yeah, Sask in a walk and Toronto I'm picking over Calgary due to the (non) Cornish factor along with all those receivers out.

Is it just me, or is this the beginning of the end for Nick Lewis. He's got a lot of hard miles on him - and remember, players like him never fade away, they burn out and burn out quick (look at Roberts). He didn't do much in the game he did play (other than throw a hellacious block which - my bet - caused the concussion to begin with).

  11. I agree with Mr.P and others. Though, TBH - right now who we sign doesn't bother me as we are set in the QB position. Willy is god (well ok, that's a little too far I know but I'm so stoked about him, I've been waiting years (like most of you) for a bondafide #1 guy). Brohm and especially Marve seem like good solid backups (especially Marve). So, unlike last year when we had no one, why not take chances on these guys. You might find a real gem but if you don't, I'm confident this coaching / management staff won't think twice about releasing someone in a month rather than spin their wheels on them for a few years like they've been doing.

BTW - I haven't watched the videos - they mean nothing to me. I have to see a QB manage a game, see him at his average, before I judge him. Any QB can look like Payton Manning in a hi-light video.

  12. Well, being in Edmonton, and being at the game on Friday (where the first 50 minutes were entirely a waste of my life), and watching the bombers on TV for the first two weeks, I can say, unequivocally, as an expert in all things CFL (not really, but in my mind I am), there is no way that Edmonton is better than Wpg.

    Mike Reilly is struggling

Thompson (or whatever his name is) at RB is totally useless

Adarius Bowman (someone wanna fill me in why I chose him as one of my receivers for week 2??) is going back to the form he had in Wpg and Sk

Oline still not very good (better than last year but not good)

    Kicking game is suspect

If I compare to Wpg - just look above and do the opposite (Willy has been great, Grisby outstanding, receivers catching everything they can.... I'll give you the Oline as a wash).

Both Defense's are about the same.

And they have Wpg '3' and Edmonton '1'.

    I'd say:

    1. Calgary

    2. Winnipeg

    3. Toronto

    4. Saskatchewan

    5. Edmonton

    6. Ottawa

    7. Montreal

    8. Hamilton

    9. B.C.

  13. Not surprising. He has a lot of baggage in Regina, & the way he acted during the game last week was ridiculous.

What did he do now? I missed it. I remember last year here in Edmonton he had a real hissy fit - cost his team about 60 yards (in penalties) over something really selfish. He was even arguing with his coaches on the sidelines. We were all laughing at him and cheering him on as the flags kept mounting. He'll fit right in in Toronto lol.

  14.

I don't think activating someone is quite as easy as that... you have to add someone to your PR which I believe means releasing them and then adding them to PR - not sure though.

I think a more likely scenario is that Goossen gets the start at RG and Swiston becomes our 6th OL - also wouldn't be surprised if Hinse makes a miraculous recovery...

Now that I think of it, I might wait a couple games before making a move for Peach.

Why do you have to add someone to the PR?  All you have to do is clear a spot on the 46 man roster.  Could be by releasing someone or moving someone to the injured list.

That's how I understand it. I do recall a few guys being snatched up from the PR in years gone by but it is rare and I do believe if someone is claimed, the team the player was on the PR of has 24 hours to activate him or lose him to the claimant. And as I understand Juran you got it 100% right - all that team needs to do is throw an active member to the 1 game and then add the claimed player to their 46 man and that's it. Now, the team that wants him would have to make a trade for him (and I'd assume they would )

Great news about Willy ............ WHEW

  15. I like Renaud - he's not the greatest punter ever, but speaking of, anyone know where his son is? He was in our camp then I think he went somewhere else after he was cut, he was cut again and...... is he going to Junior football? Maybe in a few years.......

But I do remember Cameron in his early years here - if we had forums then I bet a lot of people would be saying the same thing. He was allowed to 'perfect' his craft over time. I think Renaud is getting better, and yes he has bad games but all players do. Unfortunately, for football, Kickers and QB's can't 'hide' when they have a bad game (similarly hockey goalies) - if they have an 'off day' even a semi-casual fan will notice it.

  16. As well as Grigsby has been running to date I think Cotton would smoke him.  Cotton was far and away the best "participating" RB in camp and he has the added bonus of being a fantastic kick returner.  As far as blocking goes who knows which is best, as I recall Will Ford wasn't so great at that either.

Know what's scaring me - Edmonton has nothing at RB this year. I have a bad feeling that Cotton will end up here. Don't know why, just do.

What the hell does the last 5 years have to do with this season though? Jesus christ, bombers win and you got people crapping all over them. Christ, it's almost like a few of you on here want them to lose, almost like losing would make you happy. Christ we are 2-0, can't some of you just enjoy it?

I am enjoying it. Who's crapping on them? No one. This is a discussion about whether or not the Bombers can win without Willy? No one has been  crapping on any player in any threads other than Grigsby's blocking. Chill.

Tell me to chill? weren't you the guy that just told someone to suck an egg? and you are telling me to chill? who is crapping on them? Quite a few of you in some of these threads actually.

I haven't crapped on the team once this season, so read my posts pal, before you start pointing fingers at anyone.

C'mon Iso - say it. I know you're dying to bro. But you gotta remember he had ONE win in 12 (?) starts (I think it was 12 might of been 11 or 10 or 9, TBH I couldn't care less as I knew he wasn't here long term). Personally, I would rather lose with Marve as he has potential and will learn, Brohm second though he did come around after his first two series in Calgary and threw a nice TD pass (maybe you missed that?) The guy you wanted shat the bed in Calgary, it's why he was cut.

Yeah, he got cut. That's the way it goes in pro football. Not everyone is going to make it. As far as fans crapping on the Bombers? No way. People are happy. There's no crapping going on. Now, 2013... that was fans crapping on the team. We were furious from the first game of the season right to the last. It's been all good this season so far. How can anyone not love the "No Quit" attitude this team has? Win or lose, as long as the players & coaches fight every game & don't give up when the going gets tough, as fans we can't ask for more.

Oh I hear ya there (and btw - I've never taken any of your posts as crapping on the bombers - just the opposite actually. Me I started crapping on them in March when Mack released two QB's outright and brought in two more that were not better than them. I lost it then, then lost it some more when TO's 2nd, 3rd, and fodder came into our barn and smoked us 24 to 3. But I really lost all of it the following week when our so called leader announced we were going to Hamilton and were going to get our butts kicked. Only thing that shocked me, well, two things, 1st that one team (Montreal) managed to, not once, but twice, play worse than us to give us two wins, and 2nd, the only 'pleasant shock', was actually playing well and beating a team (Sask to boot) in the Banjo Bowl. I would have bet we'd of been the first CFL team ever to go 0 - 18, and I still say it was a miracle we didn't.

This year is like watching the bombers of old. I love this team again. Even if we lose I'll still love them, cause I wanna be entertained and I want to see effort. If we get that, and then lose because the team on the otherside just flat out out played us, I'd be satisfied. Disappointed sure, but at least I'd be able to hold my head up and say I'm a bomber fan. Last year was disgusting and I never want to see a year like that again.

  19. I'd love to see Marve in a game - but only if we have it well under control. I like what Willy is doing but that play looked nasty on his hand. I'd have preferred if he broke a bone as then at least you have a time line, muscle/tendon related you just don't know. Hopefully all it needs is ice and rest ;)

  20. Khari and Glenn seem to have similar chemistry to Goltz and Crowton.

yikes, that bad eh? I didnt' see the game as we left early for dinner prior to the esks game (what long, dragged out game that was - glad I stayed till the end though - the last 10 minutes more than made up for the first 50 I tell ya).

I wonder though..... just throwing this out there, and I know it's not true of course, but Glenn did supplant Khari here. Is there some animosity between the two. I know KJ would never sabotage a QB, I just find it interesting the coincidence of it all.

I'd lean more toward Desjardins being a Genius. After picking Glenn, realizing he was no good and going hard after Burris, getting a 1st rounder for him. Things worked out very well for Ottawa here. I feel for Glenn though, he's a much maligned QB. It does go to show though he is a, as most of us have always said, a 2nd tier QB. Always was. He does not make people around him better, like a Ray, a Cavillo, a WILLY (hey, I love my Willy what can I say) - he feeds of the players around him. Milt Stegall made Glenn, not the other way around. And look what he had to work with in Calgary? In Hamilton he struggled a bit because he didn't quite have the horses there, B.C. is depleted and boy does it hurt Glenn
