  1. Ottawa Sun tomorrow : " A red-faced Desjardins pleaded to reporters "It's not my fault he told me he wanted to play, honest"

Seeing Desjardins blow it is kinda satisfying... to review, of the players he drafted in the expansion draft 1 has resigned with his original team (Kohlert), 1 has retired (Hage) and 1 wants out (KG)....

of course the bad part about this is it's basically a guarantee Ottawa takes Lavertu first overall now...

  2. Does he seriously not have a playbook?

Yeah reading that definitely worried me... Does he mean there is literally no playbook or that guys will not be required to stick to the exact scheme, allowing them to make plays where they see fit.... that latter I can live with, give the players a little bit of autonomy...

  3. Where does everyone have Quinn Smith on their draft boards? How do you guys compare him to Evan Gill?

I'm noting of an expert on this upcoming draft but I wonder why some people rank Smith ahead of Gill based purely on his combine?... Gill's tape should put him ahead of Smith on every level

  4. Ok....this is a suuuuuuper far fetched scenario that I would like to see play out but likely never happen.

We trade picks 20 and 26 to BC for BCs 5th.  BC now doesn't have a first rounder but would have two second and three third rounders.

BC could then flip say 12th and 20th to Hamilton for 9th.

In the end Winnipeg would have two first rounders but nothing until the 4th round, BC moves down 4 spots but get an extra lower pick at 26 and get to pick back to back and Hamilton moves down two but has early second round back to back picks at 11 and 12.

Maybe a team has to throw a player in there to make it happen but in such a shallow draft I think this would be great if pulled off.  But as I said likely won't.

    Thoughts?

The biggest problem I could see is not a lot of teams will trade down cuz of lack of depth in this draft.... but still fun to talk about....

so to make this truly a dream scenario... Ottawa takes Foucault #1, we take Lavertu #2 and Gill #5 and they start at C and DT respectively from day one for the next 10 years!

Well if he's no good at Football maybe he can take up a career in Meth production? I seem to recall somewhere that you can make a fortune at this :)

My understanding is it doesn't typically end well...

  6. Okay I got pwned.I admit.

What does pwned mean? I feel like I'm young enough I should know this...

Also, I agree with most that Max Hall is better than Elliot.... Elliot has better ability to scramble and maybe a stronger arm, but equally as inaccurate so there's no real advantage there...

  7. #1 - It would not slow the game down any more than challenges do now  They don't get "extra" challenges now because of this.  You don't have any challenges or timeouts left

#2 - Difference between holding and PI is that PI can drastically change field position by 40, 50, 60 yards.  Not to mention holding is probably the most obvious call to make.

I agree that PI is called differently game by game, which is why this in particular is such a huge issue.  Maybe this would get help get some consistency?

So when a running back breaks off a 40 yard run that is brought back cuz of a phantom hold, that's not a drastic play??

Also, since when is holding the "most obvious call to make"? Holding is probably the most subjective call that exists in football... you could argue there's holding by any lineman on almost every play...

Penalties should never be review-able, it just opens up a huge can of worms.... Like I said previously, train the officials better and accept the fact that human error will always exist no matter how well trained they are

  8.

Pierre Lavertu - likely returns to Laval for another season

David Foucault - currently making his rounds through the NFL Regional Combines.

    Other OL options:

Mattias Goosen - can play C or G at the CFL level. Can't return to school so he's available for rookie camp in May.

Aaron Picton - experience playing RT but likely a RG in the CFL

Adam Hughes - to take him second overall is a big reach but could be a consideration later as a 6'5" LG that could play the right side too.

Luckily we don't have a recent history of doing that  ;)
