  1. So you're in favour of cutting a guy just because he didn't sign a contract extension?Pay no mind to him, he hitched his fan wagon to Portis a while back and wants to be vindicated for that it seems.I said Portis looked good in a couple practices. I haven't hitched my wagon to anyone. Where do you guys come up with these assumptions??I've explained my logic here. Not saying Marve will be cut, but there's a strong case to support that decision. There isn't a strong case and it simply comes across as you trying to justify your ideas that Portis should be #3. There is a strong case and you are 100% wrong with your accusations. I couldn't care less who wins 3rd string QB. Only in your mind. And Kirk Penton who speaks with Kyle Walters all the time.

  4. So you're in favour of cutting a guy just because he didn't sign a contract extension? There's some logic there, for a 3rd string developmental roster spot. If it were a starting or backup spot, I might have a different opinion. I disagree. It's irrelevant that he didn't sign a contract back in December. I'm sure Osh couldn't care one way or the other that he's playing out this year. All that matters to him is that he progressing along, and making plays and moving the chains. That's cool. We don't need to agree.

  6. Yantz isn't going anywhere.
  7. I'm thinking he'd better sign an extension with the Bombers pretty soon then. I'd say he's in real danger of being cut.
  8. Marve better sign a contract extension soon or he could be cut in favour of Portis.
  9. Wicek should be fired for that tweet alone. The guy is terrible.
  10. There's different criteria for a 3rd stringer/developmental QB than a starting QB. I agree with previous posters who say that Portis may have the upper hand on the 3rd spot because he's committed to the Bombers. Why develop a guy, who's in a developmental roster spot, who will be gone after this season?
  11. Yes Thad Gibson missed the first preseason for the birth of his child.
  12. He threw a touchdown against Calgary in last year's preseason, but was awful as can be in his first preseason game. I agree with you though, Brohm struggles to move the offense more often than not. As unimpressive as Marve's passing stats from Tuesday were, he still proved to be a more efficient QB than Brohm and Portis, as he gained an average of 6.9 yards on plays in which he was involved. I also think a part of Marve's ability to put up points has to do with the fact that he's proven to be a very "safe" QB so far. He's only been sacked twice in all of his reg season + preseason reps and has not committed one turnover (fumble or interception). As a result, his offence barely ever loses yardage and the ball is never taken away in scoring areas. Brohm moved the ball quite well in his start at home last year until he injured his hand.
  13. That would be a mistake cause Portis stinks.Stinks as a 3rd Stringer though? I don't think so. Anyone else we bring in as the #3 wouldn't know the playbook or personnel as well as Portis. So what's wrong with keeping all 4 qbs around this year and in the event that Marve does go in the offseason you still have Portis around for the following season while keeping your 3 best qbs this year. Injuries happen in the CFL, we've gone 3 qbs deep on the depth chart a lot in the last few years. The thinking is that they'd want to develop Portis more this year since you know he'll be around next year, meaning he'd be 3rd QB. Would Marve accept a reduced role this year? They'd both be doing their developing in practise more than anything, I don't see any issues. I think people are really just trying to find something to worry about with the qb position. Writing off guys as gone before the opening kick off in game 1, for **** sakes guys let's settle down a little. There's a lot more development going on when a QB gets to play in actual games. And since 1/2 is Willy/Brohm neither one of Marve or Portis is likely to get a lot of playing time anyway so my point still stands. I was talking about the 3rd down and goal line work which is Marve's role and likely Portis's role if he won the 3rd QB spot.

  15. Marve already said he's trying the NFL next year.

  17. Penton speculating that Marve could be cut in favour of Portis, since Portis isn't that far behind Marve, and he's committed to Bombers beyond this season.
  18. Interesting...I wonder if Marve could be this seasons surprise TC cut?
  19. Aside from BC, Calgary and Saskatchewan who all have much better depth.... And add in the fact that Grigsby is terrible.
  20. @sportscage: Rider release WR Alex Anthony. Didn't see that coming
  21. That would make a lot more sense than a concussion. Especially since some have said it's a lower body issue. You don't get a concussion in your a$$. Isn't that what EJ Kuale had last year?
  22. Jacquie is going to want a link/source for this.
  23. I'm a little surprised there's no competition for the "thunder".
  24. That would make a lot more sense than a concussion.
