  1. I don't see any major changes needed on D. Add a real MLB and a few bigger DLs and we're good. The secondary is exceptional.
  2. Because he doesn't. Wally had an out clause in the contract where if Bene was fired by Dec 15 the remaining 2 years are void.
  3. It's the offseason...we need something to talk about until training camp.
  4. Aside from the year Bellefeuille was OC for Calvillo, is there a breakdown of sacks given up by year for every time Bellefeuille was OC?
  5. You can't really open up the playbook if you can't sustain drives, and you can't sustain drives if you can't establish a run game. As much as I enjoy a double reverse flea-flicker, keeping a defence off-balance shouldn't require 8 a game. Pretty sure the double reverse flea-flicker was used 2-3 times all season. I'm confident Cotton will really help improve the offense next season. Big difference between 2nd and 8 (if we were lucky with Grigsby) and 2nd and 4.
  6. Interesting. So you don't think Bucknor is good at playing man-D? Why do you say that?
  7. Cause it matters so much considering it's ******* december.....smhJust goes to show the rampant dysfunction that still exists in the Bomber front office. Power struggle for a month and a half over firing a coordinator. Why are you married to this idea that the length of time it took to make the announcement automatically means there was a power struggle? That's a pretty huge leap, based on complete lack of facts to support that.Kirk Penton reported a couple weeks ago there was a power struggle. Other media since reported the same. He didn't report it. I remember his tweet, it was more of a tongue in cheek comment based on another source/tweet. @PentonKirk: I heard this week that #Bombers management wanted Mike Benevides as DC and O'Shea wanted to keep Etcheverry.
  8. @jamienye: .@GlenSuitor reports Jacques Chapdelaine is resigning from SFU. A source tells me he WILL be the new OC of #Riders. Nothing signed, yet.
  9. @GlenSuitor: A CFL source says Jacques Chapdelaine is resigning as HC at SFU to look at another opportunity. #RiderOC?

  11. Cool! Looks like it's a consensus. So when is the presser to announce Benevides as DC???
  12. Benevides would make it easier to fire O'Shea should the scenario ever arise. I wonder if O'Shea could see him as a potential threat, or if he only cares about winning. If it's only about winning, I think Benevides is the obvious choice.
  13. Won't happen.
  14. First I've heard of this meeting
  15. @SUNMitchell: According to a source, DeVone Claybrooks was in Winnipeg recently for a "meeting." #CFL #Bombers
  16. Does O'Shea have a relationship with Benevedes? Have they worked together before?
  17. @DarrinBauming: Matt Bucknor's new deal will keep him with the #Bombers through 2016.
  18. Pretty much what I said too. Walters protecting himself with Jones in case Bucknor didn't re-sign.
  19. I don't recall anyone saying they "knew" Bucknor wasn't returning...
  20. Bombers Re-Sign Pending FA Bucknor The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today are pleased to announce the club has re-signed National defensive back Matt Bucknor. Bucknor was scheduled to become a free agent in February. In his third season in the CFL, the Windsor product started all 18 games in the defensive secondary for the Bombers, finishing with 62 tackles, and one special teams tackle. He had five or more tackles in six games last season. “We say this a lot, but a solid Canadian starter, whether it’s on offence or defence, are key parts of your team” said Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. “Matt came into training camp in 2014 and quickly established himself as player we can count on in the secondary. This was a priority for us in terms of our free agents, and we are pleased as an organization to get this deal consummated.” Prior to joining Winnipeg in a trade last January, Bucknor had spent two season with Hamilton, starting 27 games over two seasons, and also the 2013 Grey Cup.
  21. Huge signing!
  22. And awesome drafting by Walters.
  23. I think Walters sees Derek Jones as a potential starter and he's protecting himself in the event Bucknor doesn't re-sign.
  24. Only move I MUST see is Kuale cut. Guy is just brutal.
