  1. No problem if we score 50 points. In an interview with the Free Press yesterday, Kramdi blamed it all on execution rather than talent and opined that when they get that sorted out, all would be well. We shall see.
  2. The number of snaps Kelly takes seems to be directly proportional to the points scored against us.
  3. Maier has looked so inept that MBT has to look like a significant upgrade.
  4. Unless Elgersma has been awesome running short-yardage plays.
  5. Edmonton and district are on water conservation measures- no lawn watering, car washes, showers or flushing of yellow water. Rain would be most welcome, even if it aftects CFL games.
  6. I don't know if Dru's arm strength is better than Zach's at this point in Zach's career, but apart from Maier, This past weekend I was impressed by how strong the arms were of every other QB that played. Bombers are sitting on a time bomb there.
  7. LOVE THIS! Dru is gonna feel like he has been released from house arrest, but this pretty much dooms Ottawa to the basement for the duration.
  8. Surely to God there MUST have been cuts from other teams that were better, but.....Kornelson was at hand, so....
  9. If the elks/Eskimos had a personable GM and coach and were winning or at least playing exciting games, we would not be talking about this at all. Like "the Boston Celtics"? Or "the Fighting Irish"? Or "the Great Caucasians"?-Ok, I made the last one up.
  10. Good (unintentional?) pun.
  11. There were few holes, and that is on the O-line. But the Lion's RB was hesitating a lot as well- maybe he didn't trust his O-line?
  12. Any ream in any league has to be respectable. the rider fans started staying away in droves when shivers brought in good players, but who had a steady parade to the defendant's box and had their names in the news for all the wrong reasons. Losing is one thing, but losing badly while whining and throwing tantrums is another.
  13. Winning teams are very helpful, but I lived in Saskatchewan during some of the rider lean years, and the fan base did not collapse, although there were those who left. The Rider Reps program had representatives in every community of any size who organized car pools, parties to watch away games, distribute merchandise and host players to meet fans. I never became a Rider fan, but had to admire the organization.
  14. The rum Hut is one of the possible solutions, but I doubt if it is THE solution. Many of the teams did not bother to cultivate younger fans and essentially lost a generation. This is not going to be remedied soon or quickly. The Bombers and (ick) Riders are two teams that have done a good job in growing and maintaining fan involvement. They need to be copied around the league STAT.
  15. Probably lungs, stomach and other such stuff as well.
  16. This where the coaches and GM earn their money.
  17. The proof is that O'Shea is still here and appears to be conducting business as usual.
  18. Agreed that the biggest argument for firing Walters may well be that he has not corrected O'Shea or hung onto him for too long. The concerns about our HC have been evident for some three years and Walters ought to have acted sooner.
  19. Any port in desperation.
  20. Unless it is a spectacular defence like we had during Swaggerville.
  21. Coaches and GMs who still have term on their contracts get fired all the time. I also hope that we are not going to have a Chris Jones/Elks situation on our hands, but it could well come to that. O'Shea is more disposable than Walters, IMO, and more of a concern.
  22. Agreed that Walters and maybe O'Shea deserved to be given an extension, but I hope that they were also told that they were on short leashes after successive failed seasons due to the same reasons. Walters ought to have seen what most here have seen- blatant favouritism and poor roster management as well as O'Shea's choice of offensive coordinator last season. Hogan was painfully and very obviously inept and should not have even been allowed to finish out the season, but was kept out of loyalty(?) or stubbornness to admit a poor choice. From my point of view, the lack of good judgement filtered down into roster management, player retention and even choice of subordinate coaches. Lack of experience can be corrected but core personality features can not. Someone can be forced under threat to stop doing certain things that are a reflection of personality, but almost inevitably, they will revert.
  23. And if they had, we probably would never have heard of them.
  24. It seems to me that the whole game is being played better and at a much higher tempo than either of the two games the Bombers have played so far.
