  1. I'd be more concerned with that if he was a tackle and or projected to be one....Coaching and reps at pro level will be all he needs to be a mauling interior guy....you cant teach size and brute force, and the ability to wash guys out...which is what he brings....We will coach him up to get lower...how to create a strong base...and be a body mover...no concerns there...And if he has any hand skills, and seeing as he has above average arm length for an interior guys...he will be just fine....and he has prob one the best all time in Bryant with his hand technique to watch and learn from....If You ever focus on Bryant and watch how with even the most isnignificant looking thigs he does with his hands to disrupt a pass rusher you will truly be amazed...and what little effort it takes for him to do it....Dude's a master and part of why he has been able to play an elite level in his mid/late 30's...his bread and butter isnt necessarily speed and brute force
  2. i'd scoop Menard as Bennets replacement in a heartbeat...and with him and Lawson there are your 2 Canadian dline guys ...see ya Thomas..Schmeckle and Kornelson who I dont see amounting to anything really either
  3. I see no need for either other than PR emergency....same can be said with Thomas really...if he takes an active roster spot on game day roster...thats a huge swing and miss...he should be for insurance in case Lawson gets hurt, and Samson isnt cutting it in a limited role rotation...which is what Thomas should be at most....why slow down a rookies development if you dont have to....rostering a rapidly declining player soley on tenure/loya;ty at expense of a younger player, if they are at par is plain dumb
  4. he plays mean....exactly what makes an oline dominant...I actually shocked we got him where we did...I think some other teams scouting departments were asleep at the wheel...Even right out of college he would be the perfect replacement for Eli in the jumbo package..blasting bodies out of the way as he develops...If Dobson can come in and show he can be a legit left gaurd....an interior of Neuuf...Eli and Dobson ..would give us a nasty streak mean interior...and with Wallace coming in for Jumbo packages in Eli's old spot....would be a pile pushing juggernaut
  5. and he was on verge of leavibg too going into his second deal....but he gave it one more shot here...and paid off....too bad with BOLO we didnt allow him any opp whatsoever....ThoI think the new kid has more upside and use here....no knock on BOLO but he isn't the physical guy the new fella is I cant see any ay...or reason Schmekle and Kornelson (sp)??...can make the active roster...Kornelson possinly PR'd....but Schmeckle I see zero future here...and should have been clipped last yr..
  6. if he can punt the ball...and be consistant with it....I hope that spells the end for the global punter and we will roster a diff global that offers depth and ST usage....
  7. Just win here....or be contending yearly....that and the culture here is a strong pull to retain guys.....if they are used that is....we need to utilize our young talent and actually give them snaps...we have lagged a lot in that capacity over recent yrs...
  8. I like that signing...Talked to a few peeps familiar with him and rave about his work ethic and ST work...will fit in here realy well with the FIFO thing The bonus is as a guy coming in to fill the Miller role...as fullback he actually has the skill set and athleticism to be a threat out there and fully expect him to get some usage in that role....guys will need to be aware of him sliding out of the backfield on short yardage plays....he not respected, he could gobble up serious yards on pitches and swing passes...and 2 back sets in goal line area with him and BO together is gonna be a big plus too...Hoping too that Samson can push Thomas to the PR or the pasture...for the amount of reps Jake should get, ne better served with the young Bull....which can put him that much more further ahead in development for 2025...and depending on the defensive ratuio and where we choose to use the 1 starter we need...we may not even need to use a National DT save for just rotation and keeping guys fresh....which I hope is the way we are headed especially with Ford back....and if we actually use the Nationlized Yank option
  9. Kelly should have been on active roster all year long....when he was on he was one the top ST guys we employed....losing games for the likes of Schmeckle...That Oline guy we dressed earlier in the yr for no particular reason...Named started with an S....thats how much an impact he made on my mind....Bennett...who better really bring it and show he belongs, or be cut in camp....just a complete head shaker...almost on par with the Jackson lunacy....so odd he hasn't been scooped up for his stellar DI use elsewhere...tells you something especially with a few real weak sisters in the league
  10. I not sold on Brubacher and trust in thats why we didnt grab him...CIS to Pro's for him is gonna be a huge step....he's flawed and a project who may project to a decent rotation piece at best
  11. Waggoner I believe he means...Corney was a straight up draft pick
  12. I fully expect us in the draft to grab a legit guy with our first pick....possibly the second but fear they won't necessarily be dire need picks....with the remainder i assume we will see...but hope we don't a succesion of why?....could have gotten later in draft....serves no need/zero potential with the balance....hope I am wrong but not holding my breath yet again....with the abundance of picks I am sure this yr we could pick guys with serious rotational potential...even starter material with bulk of the picks, and then with those extra picks we have grab those slugs we love so much, as I am sure they are not targeted by anyone but us in the first 4 rounds...if at all
  13. seen it 1000 miles away with this management team...hopefully they do a 180 with the Canadian draft....
  14. we need to go defence heavy...front 7...and not plugs who only translate to a few yrs of decent ST play A flyer on an Oline guy who may take 2 yrs to get here, and a guy who has no NFL interest whatsoever....I also dont look at certain players with no upside coming into the pro atmosphere, as thats something you can't assume...Much the same as guys who appear to be ready to roll and fizzle away a yr and half later... After round 1...maybe 2...after seeing some of the dust settling I would like to see us swing a trade as well if in our case remaining picks are just picks for the sake of having picks and dont fill a need for us
  15. did we not have a Canadian punter in camp last year...who basically got bypassed and ignored as our coaches were all gaga over goofy Ausie style kicks? and then continued with it as our coverage on teams enhanced their suck all yr? We should have just had Castillo kick long bomb field goals with lotsa hang to allow our coverage guys to get down there as opposed to last year where the returner had usually 20 yards of free space to get to top speed and find the seams before we had anyone relatively close to disrupting the return...let alone make a tackle...we sucked so bad last year...was embarrassing
  16. prob wouldnt have been much as he was on his rookie deal still.....cutting him loose to go with a rookie punter maybe not the best use of roster
  17. I as gonna say the exact thing....and doesnt hurt to have a backup place kicker in case of an injury...a global punter is a waste unless he is something special and consistantly swings the tide of game in your favour (and that Global would be down south anyway)...a DL guy...DB...gives you way more benefits, and an overall better roster
  18. you would think tho with a good HC seeing the issues...he would have made the call to say...make a change....and we didnt....which leads me to think Osh was full on board with that if not part of the main force pushing it...for the most part our teams have been good with the former coach...the ugliness and total dissarray reared up with the addition of the new punter
  19. and the far too many big returns against, and games where we constantlylost the field position game Getting a productive defensive rotational player on the field for 18 gams, as opposed to a gimmick punter is well worth it i think weith age...and being a yr older for 2025, and the durability issues of lastfew yrs it's probablybthe right move to transition now. Grant is great when he is healthy and playing, but is he at that point with age...and how he plays with reckless abandon just not worth struggling again if he goes out for an extended time?...Always will be one my favorite returners and pound for pound one the toughest...and strongest guys we have seen in recent memory...
  20. IT'S a huge need that wil go a long way in maximizing how/who we roster....that is if we don't do anything riduculously stupid like last yr
  21. I actually dont think right now Haba is our best DE option to ully replace JJ....And thats a good thing, and not a slight on Haba whom if was allowed to have been rostered all last yr would have really developed....but we went a diff route and wasted a yr basially on allowing several players to develop. I think this Yrs DI's will be obviously Castillo....a dedicated returner who can actualy pull signifivant and impactful offensive reps (and i think Cruickshank or Smith may be that guy) at first glance, tho will adjust my opinion after seeing some camp up close Obviously a DE you would hope will be the other and likely a LB ....with Ford back we can go without the extra DB and who knows he may actually win a starting spot on the corner......and if that is the case then we can also rostwr an impact guy who is an import at SAM.....we have no reason or need to go Canadian there if Ford steps up...even if he doent we still have no need to put an extra Canadian there....just because. What we need to do is scrap the Global punter....and use that spot on a DL guy we take in global draft..there are at least 4 guys in that draft group who can make the roster and have meaningful reps on defence....the craptacular punt results last yr wasn't all on the coach we canned, but moreso on personell...and whatever new scheme they wanted to try, which in my opinion coincided with that constant gadget punting we tried over and over...which failed miserably.....sign a cnadian punter who can kick it consistantly 45 yards...with hangtime...and understands positional punting...it's not hard to do...or let Castillo do it...he's above average at it and would offer us probably better results than what we put up with last yr, and free's up another roster spot for another foot soldier
  22. I'm not overly concerned, but more curiuous as to how we go about the other end opposite WJ and how.who we use as rotation. Withe the Jackson stupidity now off the table thre is a good chance we can get back to a deeper rotation which will do wonders We know we will be fine with WJ and likely Lawson as the main end and DT....If we choose to go with a canadian starter on dline, Fox can be very good and isn't a raw rookie, and I ecpect Randall to rely push fo a spot and can be a big load in the middle, and as mentioned really like Woods...so roater allowing if we able to dress those 3...or 2 of the 3 we will be okay and have a way more active interior. We know Haba can play and should only get better, but I still feel Garbutt is the better and may surprise coming out of camp....that being aid we may even dress 2 import ends to go with WJ....or 3 import interior guys, especially now with Ford back and the possibility he grabs a starters role in the secondary. We have a few other real intruiging end prospects coming in as well, an hopefully we go defense heavy with our global picks as there are some actual ballers there this yr...so competion this yr is gonna be legit and real....and 1 yr out from a home cup appearance being a possibility is the perfect time to start the partial transition to young hungry talent....Camp should be very intersesting for sure My main concern is on how we formulate the O-line and who we choose to use, and hopefully it's based on true talent, not a personal like/bias or the old reward system we have used in past yrs.....If guys like Schmeckle...Thomas....Bennett (if he doesn show massive improvement as his age now limits upside) Kolo and Kramdi (good role player and in-situ guy, but not a true front line starter) come out of camp as starters/hevy rotation guys we failed in the off-season, and will be again next spring trying to do an overhaul for 2025 possible home cup appearance. Wedefinately will be a younger, more hungry team, and will have a nice blend of vets...and youngsters
  23. Yup...it's gonna be interesting if we see a lot of 2 QB sets...or a lot of ZC and Strev rotation...I think it'sthe multiple dual QB looks.....and from looking at what that Thompson brings, can you imagine a set with both ZC and Strev, as well as Thompson with motion in the backfield....or in a bunch set....what are your keys defensively there?...and oh yeah....you have BO lurking there too....All I can see right now is if you are not up on the Bombers...and by a lot in 2nd half/4th quarter....you are gonna be ground out to a fine dust
  24. Our QB stable is best in league.....people are under valuing Strev big time....and he got handed that "not a passer" tag really for no particular reason other than from what lapo tried to morph him into in his second yr...That signing is gonna prove to be huge. Barriere as well is as legit a prospect coming to Canada as there has been in yrs...I was shocked we actually got him signed as heard he had quite a few camp prospects, but I think he took the Strev route and didn't wanna be a camp arm, with no real legit opportunity, and deal with NFL polotics...win win for us. The beauty of this yr is this will help ZC immensely if not for the fact he is not gonna try to play outside himself like last year and have those forced errors...as he has a Legit guy now behind him chomping at the bit....and the heavy rotation we will see is also gonna add to his effectiveness Havnt really went over the roter much as of late as have been back and forth from Cali, but looking forard to as some have mentioned what Thompson could bring, as well if Grant is not back Cruickshank, who is a lil more polished all around. My guy tho who is under the radar and should be one to watch is Chris Smith....he's a legit as legit talent as we have brought up in yrs too, and can see him cracking the roster in some capacity...he is also a legit returner and was highly ranked as such for the NFL...legit break away speed and can be that multi tool guy that we tried to turn Mcrae into....But Smith is so much better. Curious how we approach the global draft, as well as the CIS one...there are 2 legit dline guys in the global pool who I believe can step right in as a rotation piece, as well as contribute on teams...and I still have this feeling we are gonna do some draft day moves. This ys camp is gonna be interesting as there are jobs to be had, and actual talent brought in to take the spots, and possibly realy push some vets
  25. some people here...when they know...they know....thats all that needs to be known
