My thoughts on the WSF.... We can only lose if we don't show up mentally and take the game off. The only team we might do that against is the Stamps. Therefore, I want the Riders to win the WSF as it pretty much guarantees our guys are all up for the game and therefore we are assured victory.

Bob Irving is the soundtrack to my fandom of this team. I will share my oldest and dearest play call of his that I remember. I was a young boy out camping with my parents. The Bombers were playing the Edmonton Eskimos ....we didn't have much success against them...the year...1984. The Evil Empire had a dynasty going....we were trying to turn the tide. It was a regular season game....tied up late in the game....a real slobberknocker for CFL dominance at that point of the season and a precursor to a changing of the tide. " Hank Ilesic is back to punt....ITS BLOCKED....this could be a touchdown....AND IT IS!!!" With that one sentence, that one play, that one play call by Bob it was apparent that the monkey was off our back. The Evil Empire was vulnerable and the tide was changing. Am I being a little too nostalgic, or poetic, with my description of the events of that day....MAYBE...but I can tell you that one play, and the excitement in Bob's voice ratcheted me up from a casual fan to a Blue believer. That's my story and I think we all have one that we remember about Bob. That's what makes him so damn special.

It surprises me a tiny bit that it was Fajardo, but it is the modus operandi of that organization to throw someone under the bus when things go badly and DT gets his talking points from Reynolds and crew. Guess we know who the sacrificial lamb they are going to lead to the slaughter on Monday is.

I think even the thirstiest of women would agree that the naked male form needs to be presented in a certain way. Jumping around after a volleyball would not flatter us at all.

Craig Dickenson deserved some COTY consideration for ringing out 9 wins out of that squad of losers. Bo Lokombo and Jordan Williams had very impressive stats respectively but it should be noted they had many, many more opportunities to make them than almost any other team in the league....and that's why aggregate stats don't really tell the story sometimes.
-
Bottom line is our starting lineup went 11-1 this season. The last two games were exhibition games really. Not sure why anyone is surprised that we dominated the all star balloting. This was not a team that won a bunch of games in there by the skin of our teeth either....the vast majority of them were garbage time by half time. Typical garbage from a certain Riderfan mod I guess.
-
I think it is Instagram he is blowing his stack on. Cody Fajardo's crying has rubbed off on him I guess.

TSN Derek Taylor wouldn't be saying anything at all other than a 30s video once a week measuring obscure stats. He's a great numbers guy but he is a football accountant not a football analyst. If I want to know how many times DE's in the league push off with their left leg, he's the guy I call but if I want an assessment on their play.....well his comments on all of this speak for themselves.
-
Derek Taylor is a stats guy...he wouldn't know how to measure a player's impact on the field if it hit him over the head.
-
He is employed by the Riders after all....or so it seems over there. Just ask Rod Pederson.
-
Yea...they got torched all day long by Lulay and Harris. It wasn't the offence that lost that game.
-
So Taylor would trade Jefferson, Jeffcoat, Alexander for AC Steroid, Woodard, Purifoy? Glad he's not our GM, but seriously hoping he becomes the Riders GM soon. He conveniently forgot that one of the Riders who were selected had an inferior season to Steven Richardson.
-
Sure woulda been nice if Swaggerville would have showed up for the Grey Cup Jovon.
-
You should be outraged. Stove was miles better than Johnson. I'm guessing the fact he only played 7 games was what did his selection in. I'm really quite surprised by how our team was snubbed. We easily had 20 all stars and it is a crying shame that they did not recognize some of our players to appease fan bases in Regina, and Calgary.

Rigmaiden was offered the Montreal job when Wally was the special consultant for their search. He turned it down but Montreal was a tire fire at that time. I could see him being a front runner for the Edmonton position if he's at all interested.
-
What if vaccinated guys bring Covid into the locker room? I really don't think that you can worry about this if you are the Stamps at this point.
-
No doubt. He is Hodge with much more of a home town bias.

I think what some people are forgetting here is that in 2018 and 2019, most of Streveler's plays were run out of a handful of formations with various options available on each based on defensive alignment. It would take little to get that up and running again, particularly if Harris is available to us. We ran multiple versions of the same few plays with pretty good success. Several of these formations we also use with Collaros now. It wouldn't take much time or effort to get a few more up and running for Strev if he were to return. The whole offence does not need to learn this stuff. They already know it, just need a refresher. Even if we barely used Strev, the threat that we might makes preparing for him a problem in a Grey Cup week that offers limited time as it is.
-
I don't buy into the whole playbook thing with Strevs. You aren't signing a classic QB here. You are signing a man with a particular set of skills at a time that those skills are very useful. If any of QBs have to take over FT for Zac we are screwed. I would feel a 1000x better if we had to hand the ball to McGuire or Brown (IF we couldn't get Strev ready on time) if we could roll out Strev freak of nature athletic ability for a dozen plays a game while we do that. If you don't think that signing Strev right now increases our chances of winning then I have to question whether or not you have gotten checked for Alzheimers because the 2019 run should tell you all you need to know about how useful he could be to us as a change of pace guy if Zac is healthy, or as a compliment to McGuire or Brown should be, god forbid, have to go down that road.
-
McGuire was inaccurate on many of his throws, and was not reading the defence well at all. If you are comfortable with him as the backup you are in the minority of people I would think. Personally, whether we sign Strev or not I would be handing him his walking papers at the end of the season. He has spent 2 years with us now and he is a long way off from being a competent QB.
-
A Streveler package would be entirely different than anything we run with Collaros. Also, you are forgetting that Buck has complete access to the Strev playbook we ran in 2018/19 and that almost all of our offensive unit is very experienced in the Strev package offence. It would need a couple days of practice but it's mostly run plays and RPOs...it is not hard to get the timing down on that. Gimme a break. There was nothing wrong with the protection provided to either of them in their starts. There is zero chance that Strev comes North for a GC run with Saskatchewan. The ONLY way he comes back to the CFL this season is if he has a hankering for a mid December GC parade down Portage and Main.
-
How is that different than if McGuire or Brown has to play?
-
Did you watch McGuire run our offence? Also, our playbook has not changed that much. How we call plays and the freedom given to the QB has changed a lot but a lot of our offence is relatively the same under Pierce. Doubtful. Would have been mentioned I would think.
-
First of all, we aren't starting Strev. That would be too much to ask. Secondly even without intimate knowledge of our playbook he gives us a better shot to win the game than McGuire or Brown should Collaros get injured. But you bring him back mostly for his ability to come in for 6-10 plays and run over people.

The 3DN guy was probably that goof RadioRyan I am thinking? I could fit everything he knows about football in a walnut shell.
